This week's film is all about Dermaplaning at home, how to do it, safely and why I choose to dermaplane my face. So why do I dermplane? It allows me to safely remove peach fuzz or facial hair. It's a briliant non invasive way of removing dead skin cells leaving your skin instantly smoother and brighter, helping make up sit better on your face. I'd love to hear if you've tried it, what you think and whether you feel it's made a difference. Please subscribe to Speed Beauty for regular tutorials and click the notification bell, so you don't miss out. / speedbeautybycarolineb...

Disclaimer:
The aim of Speed Beauty is to introduce you to and provide you with techniques for make up, skin & hair care products. I only show you products that I love and really believe in. Each product I use is heavily researched before deciding to make a film and I try and provide you with as much accurate information as possible. The views on this RU-vid Channel are my own and are based on having personally tried the products myself.
The products I use in these films are either bought by myself, are part of my professional kit or they’ve been sent to me by PR companies for review. I am not currently paid for producing the films you watch. Some of the films contain affiliate links in the description, but not all. If you are happy to click on these links to continue support this channel that would be very lovely, thank you.
You should always research whether the products I recommend are suited to you. Everyones skin is different and I offer no warranties and don’t claim to be a dermatologist. Some products are really expensive and an investment purchase so it’s always wise to test product on your skin to check for allergies or adverse reactions before you buy. Some make up & skin care brands offer you samples to take away & try. This is always a good idea before deciding on an expensive purchase.

I just did my face lastnight after I came home from work and removed my make up and washed my face. Lisa Eldridge did this video a year ago and got so much heat and flack for it and it's a shame. After I watched Lisa's video I was intreagued and I wanted to have it done. I work at a hotel with a spa on site and had it done, ever since I've been more in love with dermaplaning. It doesn't hurt, but people need to see a professional first as there is mixed opinions on all sites about after care skin care. Thanks for featuring this on your channel.

Caroline I have been shaving my face for years and it definitely has paid off to help with the effectiveness of my active ingredients as well as smoother makeup application. Per the advice of my esthetician, I use a a Gillette double blade disposable razor and use gentle non foaming Cetaphil on a damp skin. I shave my entire face and neck 2 x wk, making sure to cover my brows! It seriously is a game changer !

I've been a therapist in the beauty industry for over 30 years and have dermaplaned ( though it wasn't called that way back when😊) for the past 40 years I would suggest that people rather than going in an upward slant go in a downward slant because over time the hairs will start to grow outwards instead of lying down on the face so the skin would have to be dermaplaned a lot more often..

After being brave enough to shave , I find I'm having to do this every 2-3 days, using those cheap eyebrow razors, does this damage the skin , do you think? Would like to have laser hair removal for the face, but is it true it does not work on fair hair?

Yup, I've been shaving the peach fuzz off about once a month for a couple of years now. I always make sure that I do a check tweeze first around lip and chin to get the syribger dark hairs out of the way first - cos those b*****s WILL grow back with a blunt feelable edge, in my experience!

Yes give it a try! We've specifically designed this tool to be easy to use even for beginners. Our at home dermaplaning tool is comprised of a high quality stainless steel blade with a small guard for safety. Our tool was also designed with the blade held at a specific angle to easily and comfortably dermaplane your face at a 45° angle which is the ideal angle for removing vellus hair, or “peach fuzz”, and most importantly dry dead skin cells. Just be sure to hold your skin taut from behind the tool with your other hand and move down across your face with light feather strokes at a 45 degree angle on your skin. We know you're going to love it ;)

I have done this for a couple of years now and I can't imagine I will ever stop :) I feel it has improved the texture of my skin and makeup application, as you explained, is smoother. I also get asked about the hair coming in thicker.....if shaving hair caused it to grow in thicker, wouldn't those of us with thinning hair be shaving our heads!? I go to an aesthetician but I have also done this at home. I don't think you know what a difference it makes till you do it. I love it! Thank you Caroline

I used to get the Lillibeth tool sold on QVC & Amazon, but noticed in the UK most high street drugstores sell some form of facial razor fairly cheap. Superdrug always have some under ‘bikini’ ‘eyebrow’ or ‘facial’ razor for women. Usually in a pack of 3 or more.
@StackedSkincare
@StackedSkincare 5 лет назад
Our tool is now live on Amazon.com, Amazon.com.au and Amazon.co.uk - We also sell the refill packs (a 3 month supply) on each as well. Be sure to select StackedSkincare as the seller to ensure you are receiving our genuine tool. And from a price perspective, upon purchasing our tool, the monthly cost is only $6 dollars a month for a replacement head. If you plan on dermaplaning twice a month you are getting a far superior product at a fraction of the cost as these other tools are disposable & meant for single use. ;)

😍Mmmm been thinking about these since I spotted them on a famous shopping channel. In the end though decided to go with little electronic razory thingy, to remove the peach fuzz ( and the stray darker hairs) as my skin is verrry sensitive. Obviously it doesn't exfoliate but then as user of The Ordinary skincare range I use products that do that chemically. At 50 + I prefer powder mineral makeup day to day and removing fuzz makes such a difference. Love your videos practical easy follow & fast beauty info 💕

I worried would get 'rash n stubble' but that doesn't happen. I suffered with problem skin into 40's so am v careful about what I use tho after seeing your video on hair removal creams was intrigued so tried it! Loved the feel & look it gave but found it irritated my skin. This option works best for me at the moment and yes do feel products are more effective now. Keep up the good work x

Just wanted to help clarify what sets our tool apart from these devices you’ve brought up. Our at home dermaplaning tool is comprised of a high quality stainless steel blade with a small guard for safety. These eyebrow hair touch up tools are comprised of cheap metal and plastic, should not be used more than once, and can often cause skin irritation. Our Dermaplaning Tool was designed with the blade held at a specific angle to easily and comfortably dermaplane your face at a 45° angle which is the ideal angle for removing vellus hair, or “peach fuzz”, and most importantly dry dead skin cells. This is not just a “shaver” but a professional grade exfoliation tool. The other tools discussed do not consist of a blade, simply a blade guard. When using a device consisting of strictly a blade guard, you are shaving your “peach fuzz” and not removing your dead skin and achieving this professional grade exfoliation. Now lastly, from a price perspective, upon purchasing our tool, the monthly cost is only $6 dollars a month for a replacement head. If you plan on dermaplaning twice a month you are getting a far superior product at a fraction of the cost as these other tools are disposable & meant for single use.

Me, too. Been using them for years and with great results. I also clean them inbetween use and use them over and over, which makes them a far cheaper option. You can feel when they start to go a bit blunt. Being older and having looser skin, I find the smaller size much easier to use than the size Caroline uses here, which I found is too wide for many parts of my face.

Michelle J Place the end of your tongue under your top lip (to llift the upper lip area & create smooth skin surface) then gently dermaplane in downward movements, always with approx 45degree angle. You’ll wonder why you’ve never done it sooner. Instant results. Hope this helps.

I dermaplane, and I actually do my whole face... well I'm really careful around the eyebrows. If you think of it as an actual exfoliation, then it makes sense to tackle the forhead, nose, etc. Obviously, I don't get tons of hair from shav... er.. dermaplaning my forhead; but I do feel like the skin in there and other areas is lightly exfoliated. Love to follow-up with a super-hydrating cream, afterwards. Ciao from Italy, L

I used to always wonder why men have such smooth complexions, then I realized because they shave there faces, now women can do it too, whether you call it shaving, dermaplaning or whatever, I actually love feeling how soft and smooth my face is after doi g this.

Thanks for another great video Caroline. I have been using the Finishing Touch Flawless battery operated device for my peach fluff which is great but I'll give this a go! Just one thing can it be used above the lip and can you clarify which direction up or down please .

Michelle Carolan, I bought the Finishing Touch device too after Angie on Hot and Flashy did a video on it but I must be doing it wrong as I don't seem to get hairs in my device. Any tips? At the moment I just get my whole face threaded occasionally.

Maureen Bouey It’s funny you should say that because I have noticed the same thing, but weirdly it does remove my peach fuzz so where it goes is a mystery! Anyway I think I will give this a try for the skin benefits.

I do my whole face, including upper lip. Stick your tongue into the upper lip area, to make the skin more taut, then use gentle downwards motions with the razor. It works a treat!! No more lady-tache!!

Great question! Yes this can definitely be sued to easily remove the hairs and exfoliate the skin on the upper lip. Simply be sure to tuck your lip underneath your bottom lip to hold the skin taut and move down in light feather strokes. ;)

Great video Caroline, it's so annoying when make up gathers in the little fluffy hairs, drives me mad. Could this dermaplane tool be used on the upper lip hairs and hairs around the brows? That's my fluffiest areas haha xx
@StackedSkincare
@StackedSkincare 5 лет назад
Absolutely! Our tool was designed exactly to help this as well! When doing your upper lip be sure to tuck your lip to ensure the skin is taut and move down in light feather strokes, and around the eyebrows just be sure to be careful when shaping as this tool is very effective at removing hair easily ;)

Thank you Caroline for your quick but informed video. Dark haired ladies that dermaplain what's the regrow the like? Is it stubbly for you? And how often do you have to do it?
@tedoymisojos
@tedoymisojos 5 лет назад
I do it every three days. You can feel the texture on your face when the hair starts growing back, but it doesn't look like stubble on the legs, the hairs on the face are much finer. I shave my whole face except sideburns with regular cheap BIC sensitive razors. Someone reccomended shaving downwards, to avoid the texture when regrowth starts. Don't know if that would work.

Great question! This is actually just a myth - dermaplaning will not grow your hair back thicker or darker, it's physiologically impossible for this to occur. Hair growth is impacted by hormones not dermaplaning or shaving. 😉

Claudia Cain No I bought this myself I had tried cheaper ones but they weren’t as smooth and I had heard good things about this brand. I was prepared to invest when taking a blade to my face! :)
@LauraPazzaglia

But the cheaper ones have to be replaced frequently. I think in the end, if the brand she is using lasts ten times as long the cost difference is nil, and you reduce waste as well. Ciao, L

Thank youf ro reaching out about this!

I do this every third day with regular BIC brand two blade razors. I wish it lasted longer, but judging by how loose the skin around my brows is from waxing, I don't want to extend that problem to the rest of my face.

Yes - waxing can be very aggresive on your skin and is not recommend - Dermaplaning is safe and actually the only form of hair removal that is truly beneficial for the health of your skin. Ashley Alverson I always avoid acids and retinols after dermaplaning. Try to use soothing, gentle products and a “basic” routine without active ingredients. I use a hydrating mask right after the procedure and that night I’ll go in with very moisturizing and soothing products. I like Korean Skincare so I would recommend a very hydrating toner like Hada Labo’s, then I follow up with a snail mucin product, and an overnight hydrating mask. I wake up and my skin feel smooth and hydrated and glowing

A little while ago I ordered the Stacked tool. I found it better than the cheaper alternatives but even so, felt it to be exorbitantly priced.for what it was. Unfortunately, I hadn’t ordered the replacement blades and when I discovered how frequently they had to be changed, Amazon was out of stock and remained so for weeks. In the end I was refunded my money. I am sticking to the cheaper (much cheaper) alternatives. The Stacked seems safer and kinder but not enough to justify the cost.

Doesn't the hair protect the skin against sun damage etc ? I know men shave but men's skin is much thicker than women's . Having said that you aren't being too aggressive with the hair removal tool which actually I do use to just remove down from around the lip area .
@StackedSkincare
@StackedSkincare 5 лет назад
Hi Angie, Thank you for reaching out about this. Great question! The hair actually does not aid in protecting from the sun but actually by removing the hair and dead skin, your products can penetrate deeper and better. It is always important to wear SPF when going out for the day even if you are just driving in the car, whether you dermaplane or not. The sun is the most harmful thing for the skin and the leading cause for signs of aging.
