Been smoking for over a decade and people constantly guess my age is ten years younger than what it is. On the other hand I've met people who have never smoked who are literally 18 looking 35. 😂 the reality is sometimes people just don't fit into how each of us see each age. It is bad for your skin. But so is sugar, not drinking enough water, fats and saturated fats, not excersising and getting too much sun, etc. But you don't have anything to compare it to , bc everyone ages differently or might have features that make them seem a different age to you. Causation doesn't always equal correlation. Go figure
@@drewhempwood2113one thing I'd like to point out is that atleast the other things you mentioned are only bad at excess amounts. Sugar is literally a good source of energy if taken as needed. Minimal exposure to sunlight at certain hours of the day can boost vitamin D synthesis. Some people can't do high intensity workout and should stick to what their body needs (for eg., Hernia). But smoking! I'm sorry there is literally no reason as to why someone should smoke. It has absolutely no benefit even in the slightest of exposure. While the other things you mentioned may still benefit you in moderate amounts. Correlation is not causation. You might not look old but that doesn't mean smoking isn't harming the rest of your system. Imagine trying to sound intellectual but forgetting the tremendous amount of research that states how smoking should absolutely be avoided if a person "actually" cares about their health and well being.
@@sanskritibarman4928 babe cupcakes are not the Sugar ur talking about. U need glucose, fruits etc, but no cake n cookie tc all of that is objectively not good for you in any amount lol I'm sorry if it makes u uncomfortable but its fine to eat; just in moderation dnt convince urself a cupcake is nutritious bc u need glucose unless u have diabetes
Smoking makes you feel old too. I stopped a few months before I got pregnant, but it’s been years and the smell still makes me nauseous. I’ve only craved a cigarette 1-2 times in the past few years and they’ve always tasted horrible and made me feel bad.
Can I ask you how much you smoked and for how long. Not being smart I promise. But it seems like it was very easy for you. So were you a light smoker or maybe not many years .
Quitting smoking probably one of the best things I did in my life (3 year ago, smoked for 10 years)! The smell doesn't bother me at all tbh I kinda like it. But I think that's because of nostalgia from childhood because my grandma smoked all the time and I used to spend a lot of time with her. Kissing smokers though... 🤢
@@ambert3404 I smoked from 15 to 19. So not a super long time, but the years do add up to feel like a lot. I’m 24 now and haven’t touched a pack in almost 5 years. But smoking too much had always made me really sick. I’m NOT a chain smoker type. But drinking also does the same. My shoulders and chest hurts like you just hit me with a bat. So deciding not to do either for the sake of having a baby wasn’t that hard lol.
@@that_pan_chick8650 I've some from 11 to my 40s . I'm having a hard time quitting and I was and still am a chain smoker . I'm happy you stopped I hope to get that willpower one day soon.
I still get tempted and do smoke when in smoker company (which is maybe 2-3 times a year). Being around people smoking is just eventually gonna make me smoke lol. Interesting how to some people it's off-putting and others not. But I also never got properly addicted, I smoked regularly for about a year, but it was very social for me, I rarely smoked alone.
@@bretrichardson8660 honestly that photo is a little old. I think I was maybe 28 or 29 there. I’m 33 now. But I’ve had a natural patch of white/silver hair in the front of my head since I was a teenager that I’ve been leaving natural lately and I think that automatically ages me. And my skin is dry 😂 that doesn’t help. But I don’t smoke or drink… but I also for sure don’t drink enough water. I dunno, man. I always have a hard time guessing how old other people are so maybe I’m unfairly judging myself lol. But thanks!
Used to work at a grocery store where there is a senior discount. A man came through and asked me to guess his age, so guessed 60s. HE WAS 42. HE LOOKED 70
Very hard to believe. But I am the opposite. I was asked for ID buying alcohol at the age of 42! The cashier told me that I "have to look at least 25" 😂.
Oh dear, I guessed 38-40 too. But that’s because their skin look so much like my sister’s. She smoked a lot, and her career is being a skipper, meaning she’s always on water. And she’s not a sunscreen user at all.
@@EggyTheElephantShe’s a skipper, like on a boat. Boats are usually out on the water. Water reflects a lot of sunlight, so when you’re surrounded by it you tend to get more rays.
@@kristy1653 I can’t lie I thought you meant ‘skripper’ for stripper, and ‘on water’ was some new lifestyle related slang. I’m from a landlocked area. 😂
I work in retail and have to ask people for their license for cigarettes/alcohol and a woman buying cigs was 2 years younger than me but looked 15/20 years older. When she gave me her license she said, “I’m old,” and I said, “I’m older than you are,” and she looked at me and stood there speechless. I’m 57 she looked to be in her 70’s. Her skin was severely wrinkled, saggy, along with being sun-damaged also. I’ve never smoked, nor drank alcohol and have wrinkle-free skin, plus, I take care of it with a regular skin-care routine and sunscreen.
@@StompyGalompy Oh, ok, I guess you would know how I look since you’ve never seen me…😐 I saw my cousin, who’s about 5 years older than me, awhile back and I hadn’t seen her for years and she said, “why don’t you have and wrinkles?” I also have a hair client who said the same thing, “you don’t have any,”…I said, “what?” She said, “wrinkles.” So, according to you, I guess they didn’t know what they were talking about either. 🙄
@@mariamendoza8934 That’s NOT using his name in vain! Saying “omg” is an expression / figure of speech. It’s not like saying “god sucks” or “god is bad”, it’s just a saying that has been going on for generations. No need to take offense to it lol
@@mariamendoza8934 My guess is that you do not even know what "God's name in vain" means. It refers to using God with no meaning...an empty reference. Clearly, the OP had meaning behind the reference. Why don't you spend a little more time reading the Bible and a little less time censoring comments.
Been an on and off smoker for 25 years and people often remark on how good I look for my age. The tip is don’t drink. Alcohol prematurely ages you just as much as smoking can by its drying effect and the depletion of vitamins necessary for collagen production. Sun exposure and smoking are always mentioned but nobody talks about how much drinking can contribute.
@@millieyinaski8495 Well yeah, since people are obsessed with aging, we often point out if someone looks younger, as a kind of compliment. People who look younger than most people their age hear it all the time.
I smoked and drank almost daily from 17-25. I cut out smoking completely and only drink on rare occasions maybe 2-3 drinks max. Now at 28 I look younger than I did at 21. Also best decision ever😂
@@Joce-bl7qi clothes need to be UV protected to protect you from UV rays. If you're inside away from the light then you don't, but this is the only time, other than at night
Eyes, neck, and hands. Under 27ish will almost always look perky and firm, I'm talking actual facial structure which continues to change with the aging process . That's why with elderly they always have a different looking nose when compared to photos of them when younger etc
I was wondering if that was a man or a woman. Man face, girl hair, boobs and a 5o clock shadow. Guys and girls both wear earings. I was and am still confused 😂
They/them is not a good look on any man. Sorry. It just isn't. I hate to be mean, but he doesn't look good for any age. Think about your appearance and at least make some effort.
What's cool about it? She guessed wrong despite having asked questions. Most people with whatever occupation would have guessed about 37 without knowing anything about him
For mentally disturbed individuals (such as dementia patients) it is recommended family members give in to their delusions as to not cause more harm. This is the perfect example of delusions. Let it think it’s a woman while we all laugh behind its back.
@@rat612Why do you think the video intentionally included a trans person? They are trying to make women okay with it, when it's not okay. I don't hate them, and I will always treat them kindly and respectfully, because they are people, but it's harmful to women's rights.
@kayleigh3648 You have to be ready to quit. I literally just saw an old woman watching Shirley Temple and something about it triggered me to wanna quit. I also had my boss telling me she didn't believe in me, so I think that pushed me too. Good luck ❤️
@@justme6655 not at all, I just feel like the hoops with the hair aged him somehow lol. It’s that specific size of hoops, the bigger ones I usually associate with younger peeps.
@@rat612 what do you mean? People style themselves all the time in ways that age them or make them seem younger. It’s about the demographic who usually wears those items or the time period they’re from and who/ what era they become commonly associated with.
It’s wild to me people in the comment section think he looks 40 plus , how young do most 32 year olds look to you? He doesn’t look that much older than average if at all. But tbh I think depending on the person they can look 10-15 years older or younger than they are depending on genetics and how they take care of themselves.
Nothing wrong with that. The fancier stuff may help push back time a little better but in the end we will eventually blend in with our peers in the nursing home
I work outside and almost always forget to use sunscreen 🤦♀️. It’s so easy to forget, and it’s also easy to pass it off as “one day ain’t gonna do anything, I’ll just start tmrw”. Next thing I know it’s been 2years and now I’m seeing the wrinkles coming in…
My best friend growing up skin turned so nasty after one year of smoking. She would always make comments about how my skin was “perfect” and I would say “because I don’t smoke” and she would get so mad at me.
Only one year of smoking wouldn’t cause noticeable changes like that, unless she was smoking 5 packs a day and/or doing other things that contributed (like drinking excessively, eating McDonalds and Taco Bell everyday, not wearing sunscreen, etc). If smoking aged ppl that quickly, we wouldn’t have any smokers lol.
As someone with EDS even growing up in Australia I look almost ten years younger then I am. I also smoked for 9 years but stopped in my mid 20’s which seems to have helped a lot
I work in a convenience store, people come in for cigarettes all the time, and I have NEVER guessed their ages right, they look 20 years older than the actually are, it’s insane. I once accidentally gave, what I found out was a teenager cigarettes once because I thought they were in their thirties!!!!
No they dont. If its estrogen, your skin gets softer and less prone to acne. Testosterone may give you more acne (initially) and rougher skin, but its the same amount as going through puberty as someone who have testosterone produced in the testes. Please do research before spouting nonsense
Please stop smoking. Yes, that includes weed. I used to work in a derm office after school in college and the smoker's always looked objectively terrible. The best treatments and products couldn't save them. Your skin will thank you if you quit.
32 is 2-3 years off from the actual middle line of 30's (depending on how close to turning 33). Don't know why people act like there's such a big difference...
Because people are so conditioned to feel shame about the natural aging process which is insane given we are flesh and blood so happens to everyone. People are conditioned by society to feel like they need cling to their 20s as long as possible. As though every grey hair sag or wrinkle means we are doing something wrong . All the tretinoin in the world won't best time
that is so harsh omg they do NOT look almost 40 😭😭😭😭😭 i would’ve guessed 32 exactly honestly but i would’ve thought MAYBE 34 actually but always try to guess younger bc that’s nice to do-i feel it makes people feel good about themselves 😊AND it’s not super rude, if you guess lower that’s nice but to guess higher is yikes
I’ve always looked really young for my age, and I took it for granted. I’m 34, and I still get mistaken for late 20’s, but as the person who sees my face everyday, I notice the way smoking is making my skin look…sad. Time to quit ya’ll!!
I dont really agree with the verdict here but want to vouch for quitting smoking. I never thought I'd be able to, but managed at 33, after 18 years (many half-hearted attempts along the way). Now at 39 I think I look younger than I did. If you are like me it helps to make some other change at the same time. For example: go out less/ spend more time in nature/ start studying/ reading/ learn a new hobby/ join an NGO or book club. Maybe not all at once, and every change wont stick. But to take the opportunity to explore when you decide to break a habit can make it more of a fun mission. Sometimes it is a struggle, but then remind yourself it is the learning curve/growth pain from new synapses :)
Google that, men and women skin don’t age the same way. "This is a fact...research shows that female skin actually ages faster than male skin. Male and female skin is the same until puberty. After puberty, skin starts to deviate structurally and chemically for both due to sex hormones. Lucky for men, their skin ages slower than women". So the dermatologist have to make her conclusions with this fact.
