Diana has something mysterious, mystical in her voice. She is a dramatic contralto, the rarest contralto-type. Dimash is the universe, but Diana is the earth, our home... and when you hear her voice, you feel like, she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and serving you a cup of hot, dark chocolate. Diana was born May 2003. 31 in Arsenyev in the Far East Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her, had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived... and she did not love her child, mistreated her severely and tried to drown her. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone in the street and took the 3-year-old girl to a children's home shortly thereafter. Finally, there she found love... from Irina Ponik, who worked as a massage therapist and treated children from the orphanage. Irina Ponik and her daughter Nastya fell in love with Diana. Taking a child into the family was of course not easy for Irina... when she was 5 ys old, so she became Diana's 'real mother'. Diana has lived in a poor but loving family. Diana spoke very badly but sang all the songs from cartoons. When she was five and a half years old, an acquaintance of her mother's, a musician, noticed that Diana had a perfect pitch and advised her to take singing lessons. So, Diana took lessons from the singing teacher Elena Anatolyevna Kazantseva, who discovered Diana's talent. And so, it all began... The Arseniev period lasted from the end of 2008 to September 2012. During this time Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions. Everything connected with Diana's vocal training, performances and competitions was organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She became her daughter's manager, found the addresses of music competitions, negotiated with their organizers and selected a repertoire. She was looking for sponsors because the flights were expensive and she sewed the stage costumes for Diana. She even attended extra sewing courses, because all this ate up the family budget. She accompanied her daughter on trips and captured her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. In Moscow, after a competition victory, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She didn't want that. In 2012, Irina and her small family moved back to their hometown of Tolyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana even has a grandmother now and has also lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would take her with her. 2013-2015 Diana played in the theater studio of Dmitry Marfin, director of children's programs at the Togliatti Philharmonic Society, who valued Diana as a 'real workaholic and fan of her craft'. Immediately after her debut on June 3rd, 2014 (Diana played the role of Becky Thatcher in the jazz musical 'Tom Sawyer and His Friends'), she met Svetlana Ivanovna Vovk, the director of the excellent Melodiya vocal studio of the DDC in Togliatti, a pop vocal teacher at Togliatti College of Music and Rodion Shchedrin, member of the jury of international and purely Russian music competitions and Diana's journey continued ... Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win. So, in 2017 on February she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A door had closed but a new door opened: In 2018 and 2019, a unique international competition 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children, was launched in Moscow. Diana took part and won. These performances were broadcast nationwide, uploaded to RU-vid and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote. Igor Krutoy, mentor and jury member of the competition, gifted Diana an apartment in Moscow. So, she was able to continue her vocal training with the best teachers like Professor Olga Donskoy (She and her husband died from Covid-19 in October 2020) The break of voice made Diana’s voice darker and deeper. During her voice break, her voice sometimes went a little crazy. You can hear it in some videos from that time. She worked hard to get the lost high notes back and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 - D6... and it will go on. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile. She likes to paint and draw, so much that we can be glad that she decided to sing… But did you notice she holds a microphone only in the right-hand? The left-hand underlines and paint, what she is singing. Diana puts her whole soul into each song. That all makes her performances special and unique. But she's not just a great singer and storyteller, she's also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman, who loves her family and appreciates, what they sacrifice for her. She loves her fans (they are 'Friends' to her) and she is grateful, that they helped to improve her home studio. On RU-vid Prof. Donskaya und Diana had also regularly answer the many questions of her Friends. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title). In her home studio, she is currently experimenting (Corona time) a lot with different music genres and performing on both large and small stages. 2020 Diana graduated from school and in September she has become a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She studies in the specialty "Variety Artist". She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon. She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman.
