for all the people who don't get it. The two artist are designing some sort of ad for something. Derren brown sent the artists on a taxi ride with a bunch subliminal symbols that he had placed like the zoo gates on the kids' sweatshirts at 3:34. Then he drew what he thought the artists were going to come up with for the ad, put it in a sealed envelope, and gave it to the artists. Then after the artists came up with their designs he had them open the envelope to show he guessed right.
this is amazing, I always figured that everything we've seen/heard/smelled so on and so forth was captured by the subconscious but stored in a way that we cannot easily access simply because it is too much information to consciously compute.
it is real. And this technique is being used on people allllllll the time. Just look at politics. Most people believe that gibberish is their own ideas, on either side.

People don't create their own opinions, they just mindlessly jump on the bandwagon without question (for multiple more or less unconcious reasons). Or look at all those "Influencers" and their personas and all the mindless sheep who want to be "special and their own person" literally copying these influencers or celebtrities, being as unoriginal as possible while likely still believing they're being different than the rest, often letting themselves go, becoming frustrated or anxious and depressed because "they'll never be as perfect as X". There are so many examples for this, the weirdo Ariana Grande addicts on Twitter or certain Billie Eilish fans. After all it's easier not to think for yourself and it's easier to be liked by others if you behave like somebody that is already popular. This is not uncontrollable though. Think for yourself, be concious.
You should watch the whole episode to really get how amazing this is. Those two ad guys should appreciate the fact that subliminal suggestion - which is cornerstone of their business - works as well as it does!
So during their cab ride they picked up all the exact things they set up but yet not any other things that weren't set up. What are the chances of that? Especially in a bigger city where they would have been susceptible to the influence of countless other pictures and objects. I do believe the mind can be influenced to a degree but i think this was just way to perfect
Well, you and I don't actually know the amount of effort they put in. Maybe they replaced absolutely every picture, and what was left was trivial or unrelated to their task, was shown far less and didn't leave any impression. If they did go through that length, I hope they tested a few more people...

That happens a lot with my grandfather. He is a little deaf and many times can't hear what we say. But more often than not, after a minute or so he says the exact same thing we had told him before, and he could swear that it just came to him on its own. This shows me that old age has not got him crazy, it just made the effect shown in this video more prominent over time. Nice =)
What went on in this video: He wanted then to draw a picture, described what it was about while doing so, as he said at the end, gave them subliminal messages in order for them to have the same idea he had. Welcome to the world of magic.
Watch at 3:23 first. Then watch from the beginning. It was confusing *BUT* if you wait until the end, you get a summary of what the guys saw on their way to the location and how it subliminally guided their creativity.
This video is pointless without showing or atleast giving a brief description as to what they/he did to put these subliminal messages in their head. was he saying key words before? was he doing mock up example drawings with them in their first discussion to implant idea? Completely pointless without that info really.

I believe this to be untrue. And instead of the whole thing being a setup, perhaps all of it is. Even the artists. There is near zero probability that every subliminal message was absorbed into the brain and pieced together into a picture, while all of the other non specific things were not even considered in the artists minds. Also, artists do not draw things exactly as is. They put their own variation. Therefore, this is not real.
doodelay It doesn't matter if you do or don't believe. It's real, and the power of subliminal messaging is amazing. I encourage you to look into it, because you will find that it's all around you! Pretty spooky stuff, though some people aren't as susceptible to it as others.
+doodelay It's actually a pretty common thing. You "think" of something. It was all your own, from your head. But, it turns out you absorbed that information years ago possibly, and then your brain tells itself that how you got the information is useless, and forgets that. Then when you remember the idea, it seems to you, like it was all theirs. When you dream, any person's face you see, has come from a person you have seen. Watch many movies? Well you will see an extra's face in the background, but you don't actively watch them right? Well, they can appear inside your dreams. You absorb a lot more information than you think, and then your brain subconsciously only sends your conscious part the important bits to your current situation. No reason to know you're running passed red flowers, when the axe wielding murderer is chasing you, but you still see them. Just don't notice them.
Well, people like artists who have creative minds are very susceptible to suggestion. The smallest thing can set off ideas in their imagination. With the number of suggestive elements scattered all around them I'd be more surprised if they _weren't_ influenced by all that.

Yeah, I read this article about how movies in the past had a small frame of a certain food play during a movie for only a flicker and the audience subconsciously wanted that same certain type of food and went on and bought it.
It's hard to understand. What did he do to suggest the images to the artist without them knowing? All there is, is them showing the end result. Where was the experiment?
for those who dont get it, the taxi jounrey involved many things that they advertisers drew. they had obviously taken in the information subconciously and then drew it later on
im not talking about that. Im talking about consciousness and our ability to observe our own mind and be absent of thought. Its easy just sit with no distractions and watch your mind and you will see how uncontrollable it can be but with practice of awareness we can step out of our minds and maybe into our hearts?
Maybe the artists aren't the ones having an idea planted in their minds. Maybe the idea is being planted in our minds that subliminal messages work and the video in its entirety is the message/tool. After all, a lot of people in the comment section now believe subliminal messages are real. They used two artists as a guise when the real experiment was on us.
Snoi Subliminal messages can definitely have a marked impact on oneself. There are many subliminal recordings meant to help with trauma, anxiety and distress on youtube that have helped many- and others from channels posing as subliminal aides that actually have harmful suggestions tucked inside them that have caused harm and further suffering to listeners.

I was scrolling down a page on a blog and wasn't even looking at it because i was talking with a friend on the phone, then I talked about something that came on my mind.. Later I went to that blog and read everything (this time, paying attention). I couldn't believe when I saw on a post the same thing that came on my mind earlier...
@Badoompop there was ads and diffrent posters around them when they were taking the taxi up to the building. When they got to the door there were also some pictures on the front of the building. Once they got inside and Darren showed them all the taxidermy there was the first thing they saw which was the bear. So in the end the ad creatives made the same exact thing as Darren did that was under the dead cat in the envelope. The first poster though not their other two.

But Yusuf Islam (the artist formerly known as "Cat Stevens") pointed out that both of them had subliminally stolen the tune from his song "Foreigner Suite", which predated the other two by decades. The human mind is a sponge, and most of what it soaks up, you're not aware of, but it's still there.
It's basic psychology, the dude that tricked them was priming both individuals in the car ride there and when they walked through the door. He primed their brain to think of his exact same idea. The human mind, you can't fathom what it's capable of doing.

Subliminal is very powerful. But I suspect only if recent and mostly if target is 'open' to messages. Someone engage in creation is often very open. But to use an advertizing analolgy, you can flash all the ads you want to me. I won't buy your brand based on that. I might remember your brand. Which is import too. I will also be reminded to buy your brand if it's my choice anyway. I wonder if many studies have been done on this. How far can it go ? Affect your emotions? mood? other states? performance ?

Derren Brown is against those who claim to have powers that they do not have, and he takes pains to make it clear that although his tricks appear to be based on psychological techniques, he also uses conjuring and misdirection.
@marcetclaude light from the window passes through the blood vessels in his ear to make it look red. Happens every time with a light source and a sufficiently thin body part. Check it out yourself, get a flashlight and shoot the beam of light through you fingernail or ear. It will look red.
Darren Brown strategically placed pictures of the bear with a harp, the creature heaven, etc... The guys didn't notice it but their brains did. It is the same concept as a subliminal message, you won't notice it but your brain will (ex: in a commercial for Pepsi there might be a small sign somewhere saying "Buy Pepsi!" then you might have a sudden urge to go buy some Pepsi.
there is actually a lot of mixed research results when it comes to subliminal messages in a variety to mediums. Some studies have found that there is a lot of influence, others (esp. when it comes to audition) do not show any significant influence. Tricky business
