I remember watching this game D Rose played the whole 40 minutes plus Ot...he played perfect didn't force any shots found his teammates!!as u can see with the 8 assist ....unanimous #1 pick that year...damn I wish my boy would have stayed healthy !!

That was Memphis Achilles Heel and it came back to haunt them by not hitting their free throw and cost them the championship and they was up by 9 points one point it was 61-52 with little over 2:00 in the game and they can't close the deal and Another game Memphis lost to Tennessee during the same year and Memphis was No 1 and Tennessee was No 2 and Memphis lost at home and they missed free throw had cost them the game. You got to hit free throw to put the game away and not let other team to hang around and come back to beat you.

He actually missed A free throw and Memhpis grabbed the board which lead to Rose getting fouled and he missed one of the two free throws.

This was the last truly great college basketball season to me. From like 2000 - 2008 NCAA was it, I can’t even watch a full college basketball game now. I miss those old days

College basketball is barely watchable these days. If you thought it was good from 2000-2008 you should've been around the 80s and early 90s when you had crazy rivalries in the Big East and huge games like UNLV #1 vs Arkansas #2. It used to be such a big deal back then.

I live in Florida now but am a lifelong Memphian. I was a U of M student that year. My first year there. This was devastating. I knew when Joey FO at the end of regulation it was bad. He was our big presence down low. The Jayhawks had Kaun and Arthur.

This was a helluva game. Back when college basketball was loaded with talent because guys stayed in school! This was also the year of "super freshman" started. Guys like rose, love, Westbrook, Eric Gordon were the Stars of college basketball.

No they weren’t. That was a problem they had during the season. They started to get better in the tournament but ultimately fell back into the shooting woes in their final game.
