This is a really good analysis, as a lot of people (admittedly, myself too) were excited about the range expanding, but not comparing how many colors were probably not super needed. I’m sure there are good reasons, but I wish there were more pinks (and a dusty pink), lighter grays, and a mid tone reddish brown.
Lovely new shades but many are very similar to what we already have. We absolutely need more shades of pink, from the palest delicate pink to the brightest neon pink. Thankyou for doing this video😊🌺
Thanks claire, I can't find anywhere in Australia that is selling the new colours, so I've now ordered them directly from Cult pens......now I just have to wait patiently for them to arrive.😊

Very good analysis! Here in US, neither Blick nor Amazon have either the 100 set or the added ones as if April 22 ' 2023. Love that they are available open stock!!

Wow, excellent video! I have the 72 set as well, and I bought the Inktense paint pot sets too, because of the unique colors in there, that aren't in the pencil set! They even put out a pastel set recently which I really love for backgrounds!

I managed to get the 72 set for 105 euros so I'm happy. I was unsure if I wanted to buy the 100 set but it seemed way too expensive conpared to the 72, when you compare how much only 72 were. Luckily your review of the 28 colours that aren't in the 72 was really helpful to me and I'm definitely gonna order 20 colours open stock
I purchased mine through Derwent, as a build your own set. They arrived super fast and the packaging was faultless. Can highly recommend, even if they are more expensive than cult pens.
This was a very well thought out and useful review, Claire, for which I thank you very much. Derwent Inktense colors are really beautiful, but I must stick to budget supplies for now. However, I still love to see all the beautiful colors that are out there just for the pleasure of looking at them.
I wonder if the new colours will also be released in the blocks? According to the Derwent colour charts, the existing blocks are more lightfast than the equivalent pencil colours in most cases.
I was wondering this too. I really like Sugar Plum, Amethyst, Night Shade, Violet Blue and Lapis Blue. They are pretty colours for botanicals, and though I prefer pencils to blocks, the blocks are extremely lightfast. I've searched the Web and can't find any information on the matter. We'll have to wait and see. 😞
I have had my eye on these pencils for a while and decided to wait because I heard they were coming out with the additional 28. I am here in the United States and Blick Art supplies is the only company that sells them (complete 100 set) and for a whopping $348.99 U.S dollars which translates to around 319 euros. I think I will wait until the newness wares off and the price comes down. Your review was perfect and highlighting the new colors on your swatch chart is very helpful.

I was thinking same im gonna save up for the whoke set i just have a small set of inktense pencils so its just having the steadfastness to keeo putting money aside in piggy bank for the 100 set, when i gotten in to art five years ago painting i didn't realuze how expensive this could be the only great thing is my area space is quite small and being broke makes me use my limited art supplies alot and i can take more tutorials to see if id like other art supplies,it works tho i do get sad cause theres soooo many beautiful supplies id like to try, wish someone would start a art- co- op here where artist could sell or barder or trade art supplies to each other..

Ken Bromley also has the new shades open stock and ships to the US, I have purchased from them before since they are one of the few that also sell Chromaflow open stock, and had zero issues.

Thanks for you great description and for the charts. Your review is the best. I have already purchased the new 28 colours, wonderful but there is one thing I always check out. That is the lightfastness and there are five of the 28 rated 4 and less which I will never use. OK for the kids next door. The scale used goes from 8 the most lightfast, then 7 and 6 are considered very good, even 5, well it's on the edge for me - I do sometimes use. But lightfastness values of 2, 3, and 4 are not acceptable as far as permanence of colour stability goes, for me. They are of course beautiful colors. I know Derwent do their best. Their 'Drawing' 24 set are all top lightfast. And many of the Chromoflow are great too.

11:11 did your 72 set come with 1215 turquoise? if so, you may have been missing one of the "old" colors this whole time -- it'd be interesting to see how the phantom twenty-ninth color complements your original 72 as far as i know, 1215 turquoise as a pencil was marketed as only coming in a special edition 12-set ~a decade ago -- never available as open stock it's always been in the 72-set of blocks (no 2400 outliner in block form), and as of now, the 1215 block is still named turquoise despite the 1215 pencil now being named mineral blue either way, you're very fortunate to have 1215 turquoise as a pencil! you're probably one of the only people with a true Full Set haha
Thanks for sharing this info Claire. I wish they offered the option to order just the 28 new colors as a set. Instead you have to select from a long list of colors. Makes it harder than it has to be. At least that's what it seems like to me. I'm stuck unable to get the new colors because of that
I checked Cult Pens and it cost an additional $20.00 U.S dollars for shipping to the U.S. That's a big NO from my husband. Claire, if your color chart with the new colors highlighted is available in your Kofi shop, I'll use that as an ordering guide for sure
Hi Claire, After watching your video about the prices of Inktense pencils, I am a member of The SAA (The Society of All Artists) and as a member you can get them substantially discounted at the moment as I just bought all 24 of the 28 they had in stock and they cost £1.50 each therefore very cheap in comparison to other places! I do hope you find this interesting as despite the price to join, you do get a good deal from them, along with an Introductory Membership Offer normally something worth having. You are also sent a Magazine every 2 months that in comparison to other magazines, is probably worth £4 each anyway so there is £24 to start with, I also received a book to introduce me to painting but these gifts change, but aside from all the above, they will send you one of the recent back catalogue magazines too. If you enter competitions and have to send your paintings off, you are entitled to insurance for your works which would also be very expensive if bought separately and there is also a large back catalogue of videos online which you can either watch, or paint along with. All the above benefits make it well worth joining and then you have their online shop that is often very well discounted too therefore well worth buying from them and they award points on purchases too which amount to money off once accrued. Normally you can manage to obtain free delivery too as there is a very reasonable level to reach free postage and it is couriered too, not sent by Royal Mail and you can track the delivery date and time! I hope all this info is worthwhile and also if you aren't a member but are considering joining, if you quote my name and account number, they normally send an extra gift but would also send me one too for referring you. Once you become a member, you can then do the same for others and receive the extra free referral gift yourself. I have never own these pencils because I don’t do much water coloring. But sometimes when I want to do a color a long they are using these pencils and I see more people using them ? I am noticing I have been using my fiber Castell pencils more lately. Because I have noticed especially on Joanna Basford books that I having a lot of wax build up . Maybe my hand is too heavy. I like my Prisma but am noticing but I am just getting waxy not a good blend. And although I love buying color pencils I am trying too not buy so much because then example Castle arts never use them a waste of money. Trying to stay away from wasting money and color pencils that I really don’t need. But since my daughter who passed away away tow years ago I have done so much coloring especially when I feel the tears coming down again. I just reach out for my color pencil and before I know it my crying or the waves of grief hit around gone in away because I have noticed there is something about color that clams you down. Therefore I have begun to notice my hand is heavy I am not really getting the blends just right. So far my big to investments have been fiber, Castel and Prisma 150. When I feel like getting something knew there are so many I get overwhelmed. What are your favorite color pencils? Thanks for sharing ❤ Marina
