Mes respests et merci de la Hongrie. @atelierdesarchives History + On demande de bien corriger le titre du film: ce ne sont pas des "jeunesses hitlériennes" (dont n'existait d'ailleurs en Hongrie jamais aucun, meme sous le coup d'état fashiste en oct.1944 de Szalasi non plus). Ce sont des écoliers de cadet des lycées militaires (il y en avait six) du Royaume de La Hongrie. Comme eux memes, les deux garcons (á 14 et a 12 ans) disent en allemagne avec un accent tipiquement hongrois. Apres l'occupation allemande militaire de la Hongrie (le 19 mars 1944) et surtout apres le putsch de Szalasi en Hongrie ces pauvres écoliers furent commendés de se rendre en Autriche-Allemagne ou ils sont devenus prisonniers de guerre en avril 1945. Leurs destin a été souvent tragique apres leur retours en Hongrie sous l"invasion russe. Le destin des "Levente-s" (les jeunes de la formation pre-militaire du Royaume de la Hongrie qui n'a rien au fashisme non plus !) commandés au front russe a été encore plus tragique: beaucoup d'enfants d'entre eux se sont mort en dysentérie dans les wagons vers la Sibérie. Donc on demande de corriger le titre inexact , faux et discriminatif. Le peuple hongrois n'était pas fachiste, comme le peuple francais sous occupation allemende ne l'était non plus. Merci pour la correction. Les mois des collaborateurs et poutsheurs comme Szalasi étaient la honte de l'histore de la Hongrie.
An interesting tidbit out of the immense saga of the 2nd WW, and its aftermath. There are quite a few misunderstandings about this video, one is in the title calling these boys 'young Hitlerites'. They were emphatically not that. Granted, Hungary was allied with Germany, and it fought alongside Germany, but it didn't revered the leader of a foreign country. For example the so called 'German Salut' wasn't customary ever in Hungary, even when the Führer ordered their obligatory use all across his Empire after the July 20 coup and assassination attempt. But these boys were not lived in his Empire, (although only a few miles away, but still), and their mother tongue was not German. There is also the question of language: How come these Hungarian boys communicated with the translator in German? To answer that, the military residential school where they lived, had been located on the western fringe of Hungary, only a couple of miles from the Austrian border, which was at the time integrated into the Third Reich, under the name 'Ostmark'. In Europe it's customary, that populations living in frontier-lands learn the language of their neighbours next door, beside Hungarians were the Germans' comrade-in-arms in that gigantic struggle against Bolshevism, thus one more reason to learn their language. This however took time. Clearly the second, smaller boy was still struggling with his German, since he was only attending the school a few years, that's why the translator had to switch to Hungarian at times during his interview. The slightly older first boy was markedly more confident in his German. These boys were fully expected to speak advanced level of German by the time of high school graduation, while also receiving education in Hungarian as well. That is in contrast with other, more regular Hungarian mid-schools, more into the interior, or in the capital, who learnt foreign languages in a more leisurely pace, finishing high school at only intermediate level, except when they were attending dedicated language oriented schools. Just for the reason that these boys were from the border regions, they must have received accelerated, or intensive German lessons daily, the school probably organized class trips to the other side of the border, or spent part of their school break there and so on. But of course they only acquired the so called 'Hoch Deutsch' version of German, which is the connecting, or Federal language among German speakers, and learnt no local German dialect in addition, because there were none. Their local dialect was an entirely foreign language: Hungarian. Compare that with the other side of the border with similar aged schoolboys, perhaps only ten or fifteen miles away: They learnt their local dialect, (which was Lower Austrian German), as well as Hoch Deutsch, so they too were able to communicate with for example a Swiss German in the South-West, or a Hanseatic German from North-Eastern Germany, and anybody else in-between. In addition, Austrian schoolboys in the border regions adjacent to Hungary, may took courses in Hungarian as a matter of courtesy, and in the name of reciprocity, - or may not, I'm not so sure. Sorry about the length of my comment, but it's an interesting subject for me.

je ne sais comment ces gosses ont fini , mais ça reste une tragédie car j' imagine qu' ils auraient du servir de chaire à canon pour les nazis ou de prisonnier pour les russes , il est dommage qu' il n' y est pas une traduction pendant les interrogatoires
Vous avez raison, Ils ne sont pas des "jeunesses Hitlerienne". En Hongrie cela n'existait jamais, comme en France sous l'invasion allemande non plus. Écoliers de cadet. Lisez mon comment plus détaillé.
