This is a popular song against the Unidad Popular (an electoral alliance of left Chilean parties and groups) during the growing demonstrations against the government of Salvador Allende, in which various forms of protest such as the "Cacerolazo" (a form of popular protest that consists of a group of people who make noise by hitting pots, pans and other utensils to attract attention). These marches were due to dissatisfaction with the economic measures implemented by the government, the sustained rise in inflation (it reached up to 606%; the highest rate of inflation in the history of Chile) and the lack of food.
