the real conflict in the movie is that the ppl in the kingdom "the good guy" don't have magic while the ppl in the isle "the bad guys" do have it so they basically view having and using magic as inherently evil despite it being used for good or bad, like the fairy godmother is seemingly the only person in the kingdom to be magical yet she REFUSES to use her powers

Technically even if Mal and the others had given Uma the real wand it wouldn’t have worked because as was stated in the first movie magic doesn’t work on the Isle which Uma and everyone else from there should know so it’s a bit odd that any of them thought that the wand would actually do anything on the Isle.

I love you how you guys seemingly absorbed nothing from the first film leaving you extremely confused. The first group of kids didn’t sneak to Auradon, they were personally invited with full ride scholarships by Prince Ben. Uma wants an equal chance for ALL the kids of the isle, that isn’t dependent on their familial ties for good PR, or only given when they go so far as to kidnap someone. She wouldn’t take a deal that only included herself going to the mainland, and views Mal & Company doing so as betraying all of the other kids of the isle. They went, got their happily ever afters, and without Uma’s intervention would’ve never given a second thought to the other kids stuck there.
