I actually think Umas dad is captian Hook. I think this because she and Harry Hook seems to be pretty close. Not to mention Ursula is a sea witch and uma can turn into an Octopus and Uma is also a pirate, like Capian Hook.

It makes so much sense. If Hades left Maleficent around the time Mal was born, he would've moved on to a disney villan almost as powerful as Maleficent. It would also explain why Maleficent wanted Mal and Uma's friendship to end because she was worried about them both knowing they were daughters of Hades
When Uma and Mal worked together to break Audrey’s spell, Uma took the Ember out of her shell necklace and gave to Mal. But if the shell necklace DID use the ember as a magic source when they were trying to break the spell, then that automatically means that Hades is her father, because in order to use the ember you have to be Hades himself or blood of him.
I'm pretty sure Uma's cousins with Mal on her mom's side. Ursula being the daughter of Poseidon, god of the sea and Hades's brother. They couldn't be half-siblings because that would make Uma at least a year younger than Mal. Uma's turquoise hair probably came from her father but in 'Escape from the Isle of the Lost' when Uma and Hades teamed up to get Mal to open the barrier, they made no father-daughter relation.
I really like this theory. It also explains why both Uma and Mal think they should rule the Isle of the Lost: if they're both daughters of Hades, the most powerful and 'high-ranking' villain of them all, it makes sense that they would be in the running neck-and-neck as rulers - it never made sense to me that Mal apparently outranked Evie when her mother Maleficent is only a sorceress while Evie's mom is an Evil Queen, until we found out Mal is in fact a demi-goddess. All these ranking prejudices are probably outdated in the United States of Auradon (except for Leah and Audrey, obviously), but real villains would never give up an excuse for a feud! This theory of Mal and Uma being half-sisters also explains why Mal would still press her claim over Uma's to rule the Isle even after Mal had left for Auradon and was going to be queen there too: a bit greedy? Who needs to be queen of TWO places, Mal, just more work than anyone needs to handle! Let Uma have one! But if Mal is Hades legitimate daughter - he makes it clear he was 'married to her mama' - and the closeness of age makes it highly unlikely Hades had time to marry Ursula between the time he left Maleficent and Uma's birth, so Uma's claim is technically not as strong as Mal's in a legalistic sense, even if she clearly has more of a practical claim to rule the Isle, cause she still lives there! (Besides, Uma simply rules, anyway. Love her.)

Try cousins. According to The Little Mermaid the Musical, Triton had two sisters namely Morgana and Ursula. And their father is related to Greek Mythology as in Disney's Hercules. Poseidon had different appearances in the Little Mermaid series, and in Disney's Hercules movie and series.

@@ximenasalmeron620 But Ursula is not a character in real Greek mythology at all, and Disney never actually made her related to Triton, and there is no reason for the Disney Triton and Disney Hades to be related anyway since they are in separate movies and this is not strictly copying Greek mythology. So either way, Ursula is not related to Hades or Triton in either the Disneyverse or Greek mythology, since she doesn't even exist in Greek mythology originally!

I just put in my comment to clarify that anyone who prefers to see the Disney characters as separate from mythology and develop their own theories - again, this is all just for fun - we don't need to worry about being morally questionable for making up fictional relationships! No one is thinking Hades and Ursula are related at the same time they're thinking Mal and Uma should be half sisters; they're two separate theories requiring two separate family trees, and of course anyone can choose whichever one they like best!

Mal wasn’t able to ignite the ember because of the fact that her magic was drained when Hades hit her with the ember and she hadn’t yet grown to full strength. Meanwhile Uma at full strength was able to ignite it with her magic. It could be possible that both just have magically powerful parents on both sides.
In Every form of Mythology Gods had children with their siblings to make sure their God bloodline (for lack of a better word) stayed pure. When a Zeus got angry at his sister/wife, he transformed into a mortal and had children with mortal women making Demigods, such as Hercules, Odysseus, Persius, and Pericles. So therefore Hades having children with Ursula and Maleficent is not far fetched.

Going based on what everyone else is saying, Mal and Uma are indeed cousins. Ursula and Mal would be first cousins since their father’s are siblings. That in turn, would make Mal Uma’s first cousin once removed. In order to be Uma’s auntie, Mal would have to be Ursula’s sister. This is because the term Niece/Nephew or Aunt/Uncle is exclusively used for the children of your sibling. Cousin is used for anyone that is the child of your uncle, aunt or cousin. Your first cousin is the cousin who shares a grandparent with you, your first cousin once removed is the offspring of your first cousin. THEREFOR, Mal is Uma’s FIRST COUSIN ONCE REMOVED
