Precision of the picking hand - that's what it's all about!
This lesson started as a "best practices for 12 string jangle producticity" idea, but steadily morphed into a desert blues/Mdou Moctar/Tinariwen/Ali Farka Touré thing.

Love the vibe of this, Eric. It draws on tonnes of Eastern and African music that can be a real inspiration when you're stuck in a rut - widens the musical mind. Sometimes I dig into Tinariwen/Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan/Ali Farka Touré/Geoffrey Oryema or folks like Peter Gabriel and Ry Cooder who have put a Western slant on lots of this music. There's a Sergio Leone spaghetti western thing going on here too which would be a cool lesson idea - some Ennio Morricone, given the sad news this week. Also, please please please stop making me want a 12-string any more than I already do :)

Super cool lesson as always, the one about this scales crossed with Hendrix style was great too. Love this kind of music, discovered it years ago, did you see Scorsese's first chapter of The Blues serie? It was dedicated to the roots of the blues, and Ali Farka Toure appeared talking about when he first listened to JL Hooker, he was surprised to recognize the west African music roots. Just listen to the intro to "My fist wife left me"... pure desert blues. By the way... even your "I don't do fancy stuff" is almost literally stolen from the Boogie man himself! ;-)
