Use a spent shell to put in the bolt to relieve tension on the ejector. It will also stop the ejector and spring from flying out when you drive the pin out
This is a great video, but you need to let people know about the California firing pin stop, which is harder to remove. I found out I had a California gun even though I bought it new in Florida. Kahr sells the 49-state stop and pin, but the stop is black, so it won't match stainless.
Using a C clamp helps in changing the ejector and extractor pins. Use for holding the parts in to relieve spring tension. And it doesnt hurt to order some extra pins to keep on hand. I just put in new springs on my Deasert Eagle.
Thanks for the many videos that you have done on the Desert Eagle. They have been very helpful. I bought a brand new D/E 44 magnum a little over a year ago. Lately I have been getting a lot of brass to the face. The last time it happened I got a "cookie cutter" brass to the nose. I bled for 30 minutes. The funny thing is that the pistol functioned flawlessly other than kicking the brass straight back to the face. I took your advice and ordered a spring kit, not sure it would make any difference because the pistol functioned perfectly. I installed the spring kit while watching your video then took it out to the range. I was really surprised to see how much of a difference the new springs made. Again my pistol was only about a year old with about 500 - 600 rounds through it. That's not very many but then again there is no telling how long that gun sat on a shelf before it was shipped to me. Now the brass ejects up and to the right just like a normal semi - auto pistol. I had thought about selling or trading this gun but after the range trip today with the new springs, she's a keeper! You’re the third person I’ve seen that has flipped their selector plates upside down. I have to ask if that’s a preference, is it a trend in more recent or is it by mistake?
Yes if the springs are weak in the bolt it wont extract correctly or eject are weak the shell wont be pushed out far, thereby hitting you. I suggest you gat a spring kit. Its comes with all the springs.
okay fudd move along then. I'm betting you've launched a few springs yourself in your lifetime. And the only way to get practiced at stripping your gun is to do it, btw.
