I think Swoop told the other Dinobots the Cybertronian history which also helped them understand their importance to the Autobot cause which in turn helped their personalities . Loved it when Swoop and the others thanked Carlie. Such an important episode to see the Dinos personalities

This was one of the best episodes of the series. So rich and well balanced.

Megatron always favored Shockwave. Instead of threatening to destroy him like he would do with the other Deceptions. He threatened to reprogram him to do maintenance

Always had a fondness for this story. Since Swoop takes a lead role.

I always loved Swoop seeing the history of Cybertron. It's easy to forget they were built on earth and never knew the full story of the great war.

if you're wondering why Swoop's voice sounds kind of familiar and you've played Metal Gear Solid 3, it's because his voice actor is Michael Bell, AKA The Fear. He's also Scrapper the Construction.

Boy, Frank Welker had plenty to do in the G1 series. He voiced Megatron, Soundwave, Skywarp, Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, (probably Laserbeak and Buzzsaw too) as well as Trailbreaker and even the announcer on the videodisc, as well as other assorted characters. He even voiced Galvatron in Seasons 3 and 4 in a different voice.

One of the best two part episodes. Lots of action on Cybertron and decent characters, plus this is one of the only episodes that doesn’t heavily feature the core Autobots and Decepticons until The Movie anyway. I mean surely we see more of Cybertron in this episode than any other in the series!

I wish they would show an episode of the history of cybertron like the way they showed it here on that film disc.

I'm gonna call it now: "Dinobot Island", "War Of The Machines", "Atlantis Arise" and "Desertion Of The Dinobots", and any I missed that featured the Dinobots, was a mini-arc that focused on how respectful the Dinobots were at first to growing increasingly impatient with their roles within the Autobot team. Concluding with this two-parter that pushed them over the edge while resolving that when they realize their place among the Autobots.

G1 Snarl was such an underrated character. One of my favorite dinobots.

Honestly, Carly should’ve been the main character of this series. Knows how to repair and mess with Cybertronian technology, is an MIT graduate, and brave enough to travel to Cybertron with Spike. Plus, if I’m being honest, less of a wuss than Spike.

And that's how Swoop became my favorite dinobot.

This episode was great for all the lore it established. Energon Cubes on Cybertron since Megatron sends back what he harvests from Earth before the Autobots show up. And the more primitive Transformers we see as the precursors to the Transformers we know today.

I love Grimlock. But he's such a lovable goof. What I love about him besides is chilike behavior and macho attitude is that he's independent.

As much as I love g1 when it's on earth it never competes with when it's on cybertron, there's something about the 80s Futuristic Sci fi aesthetic that can't be beaten

Keeping them locked up in stasis except when they needed their muscle, and I don't recall the Autobots ever thanking them for their efforts. Though you'd think repairing them would have helped a little ...

Both part one and two of this episode truly shows the absolute awesomeness of the Dinobots!

No matter how much of a grumpy bot he can be, I still love G1 Grimlock. I dunno what it is, something about him is so charming, I guess because he's so simple it's easy to understand him. I assume the Dinobots walked out on the Autobots was because they got blown up and felt it was Optimus Primes fault.

Swoops one of my favorite Dinobots. He listens to reason and is able to comprehend most more sophisticated ideas and words compared to the others. Glad he got his moments to shine in this episode.

In this episode Carly almost became a JILL SANDWISH. Was saved by Swoop.

I always ask the same question now that I'm revisiting my childhood with this series: There's an atmosphere on Cybertron?

I thought that on Cybertron there's no oxygen to breathe for humans. But Spike and Carlie just doing fine.

The cliffhanger for this 2 part episode was a major swerve. Shockwave fired his gun and blew up the elevator at the end of part 1 and when you see the conclusion...it's like it never happened. 🤪🤪🤪🤪

"Metal of good old days, not so good". --Swoop

This episode was mostly about Carly & Dinobot Swoop. Carly is resourceful, confident, and a genius. She loves electronics and learns quickly how Transformers work. She's not afraid of danger, regardless of how risky it can be. Carly managed to drive by Devastator and stand up to Shockwave. She fixed all the Dinobots without Wheeljack or Ratchets help. After that, the Dinobots were thankful and decided to never again commit mutiny & desertion to their leader and the Autobots. She volunteered to go to Cybertron to save the Dinobots and get Cybertonium. The Autobots after, made her part of the team. Swoop showed he's kind and intelligent. He managed to escape capture and Decepticon patrols. He repeatedly put himself in harms way to help Spike and Carly. Spike was a wimp and didn't want to go to Cybertron. Spike didn't want to do anything dangerous even though in many episodes, he put himself in harms way to help. Shockwave was a nincompoop. He's the second in command, just as powerful as Megatron, and yet manages to not capture two humans running away from him. When clearly, he could've easily run up to them, and either shot or grabbed them. The Dinobots, without their Dino modes, are no match for even weaker opponents. They can be taken out easily in robot mode. But even in Dino mode, surrounded by weaker robots, they surrendered, except for Swoop, who got away.

This was the episode as a kid that made me realise Swoop was my favourite Dinobot

This 2 part adventure is undoubtely among the best episodes of this marvelous TV show. This 2 part adventure is dramatic and suspenful in every way,showing how much of a jerk Grimlock can be due to his primitive state of mind. And the drama of both the Autobots and Decepticons losing their lifeforce and the adventurous moment of Spike,Carly and the Dinobots on Cybertron,great classic episode!

Now EVERYONE should know that the term "generation 1" from a cartoon perspective does NOT mean everyone is from the same generation. Autobots and Deceptions HAVE ANCESTORS TOO. Alpha Trion is FIRST generation. Shockwave and KUP are SECOND generation. Orion/Optimus and everyone else are THIRD generation. Hot Rod, Arcee, Springer, Blurr, and Wheele are FOURTH generation🤓💯

THIS IS HOW MEGATRON CONQUERED CYBERTRON BY 2005!👍 Megatron was STILL getting energon cubes to Cybertron (Divide and Conquer, Ultimate Doom, Revenge Of Bruticus.) He made a SHIT ton of them thanks to the Insecticons (Quest For Survival.) Megs played the LONG game and it payed off. The Autobots had to wait for Meg's to make a move first by then sometimes they were too late to stop him from making energon cubes💯
