I know more employed software engineers than hardware guys. Actually have known a few homeless hardware engineers. They get mostly contract jobs then the company drops them. Software seems to continually need updates. I would stay with that personally.

@@Dan-ger82 Some of us design hardware successful enough that allows us to not only feed ourselves, but also the homeless you mention. OP, I encourage you to progress your movement towards hardware, especially with your background.
@Dan-ger82
@Dan-ger82 2 года назад
@@bigpickles obviously there are some companies that operate differently but from what I've experienced alot of the hardware engineers around my area are contract workers. They get the contract and once it's completed if another one isn't open you are out of a job. Maybe it's different in your area but I'm around the space coast and most of them I've met have told me that. The ones I've met that are homeless were aged out and said it is hard to compete with the younger people getting out of school and willing to work for half what they were making.

Back in 2020, I was stuck at home due to Covid for my Circuits II class. For our lab assignments we were mailed the necessary components to create our circuits, which consisted of SMD resistors and capacitors. We were given extra parts for obvious reasons, and I am willing to bet that some of those SMD parts are still in the carpet.

Fantastic! How about an "intermediate" board with variable output constant current for high-output (flashlight style) leds? Through hole and SMD between the chips, pots, connectors. LEDs are always fun. I need to map out a board to use USB 5v to retrofit some old microscopes with some high CRI leds. Projects been on the back burner for like a year now. 😆

That's the one thing I haven't seen here on RU-vid yet. Lot's of electronics videos, here and there the basics, but seemingly no structured approach to the kind of impressive projects people do on here. Where and how did they learn this??

Yes you can. But, every LED has a slightly different voltage drop hence some will run on higher current and some less. On cheap LEDs you might even see some of them brighter and some dimner. Also you have to make sure the resistors wattage is rated above the current consumption of the total LEDs wattage/power.

In theory and paper this would work good but in real life LEDs dont have exactly the same characteristics. What then happens is that the diode with lowest forward voltage will conduct most of the current and it will wear out the fastest. After it dies (if it dies as open circuit) the diode with next lowest forward voltage will conduct most of the current and will die even faster than first diode and so on until you run out of diodes.
