literally this! its how vector images work (when you show the full rendered image its just the normal logos youre used to, the circles show the shapes that are put together to achieve this
Random fact; the wax in candles is used as fuel as long as it doesnt run down the side (tealight candles for example), if the wax can be heated and then flow downwards the candle burns quicker, but some of the wax can be re-used. The more you know.
The wax melts, soaks into the wick, and then burns off the wick before the wick burns. That's why a piece of string burns so slowly, it only really burns when the wax soaking in evaporates before it reaches the end. If the wax doesn't melt at all the candle will burn out very quickly by comparison(or not burn nearly as hot/bright).
As a Canadian me and my friends love the no name branding because it's funny as hell to have a chair that just says "chair" written across it in huge letters. Not a pretentious thing, no name is a brand for poor people (like me) and is sold at discount grocery stores
The egg carton design makes me irrationally angry ngl. Not only does it look like ass, its also way easier to make the mulch cardboard cartons, cause they're literally just recycled paper and card, pressed into a mould. The flatter, more smooth cardboard takes more manufacturing effort, therefore less eco-friendly, so it doesn't even have the normal cartons beat on that either. It's completely useless and unnecessary. Its like trying to reinvent couches. Like no, we have perfect couches already, we don't need to completely overhaul the standard couch design elements.
Imagine trying to stack two carton at home. They are not perfectly aligned, all of the sudden the lower one tilts and the upper one falls down. Have fun.
Using RED tiles for your pool is actually such a recipe for disaster. Red light spectrums cause algae blooms, so CONSTANT red light is just asking for a never ending battle with algae
Fun fact: the circles on some of the designs are there to show how a person would make these creations in an application or editing software such as Adobe Illustrator

I completely agree. I have some experience with CAD software, and seeing the way all the circles and lines go together for the final product is impressive. He probably just does not realize that.
The little circles on the thing are to show the geometrical process of designing it :) I know this because I studied this before summer break and I go to an art school, this is basically what happenes everytime a designer has to present a logo to the company! Hope this helps ^^
8:15 That branding reminds me of old BBC shows, can't forget the famous "Lager" Lager. I think Canada had similar TV rules (no product placement on the national network), so maybe that's where that trend comes from?
With the shark face I think you made the same mistake I did initially. I was looking for a shark facing left, in fact the shark is facing right. I presumed that the teeth from the waves were on the top jaw not the bottom. Once you see it, you can't unsee it and it is well designed generally. I would give it marks down for having the shark facing right though, humans have a bias towards the left side of the face.(Social sciences so contentiousness there with some details, effect size, etc. As with any information from social sciences best viewed with some healthy skepticism, but current understanding does point to such an effect existing.) That bias is often used in design contexts and might have made the shark more immediately obvious if implemented, even if the effect is small sticking with a design convention for something like this does also help to improve its readability.
No matter what I do I still can't see the shark facing right 😭 The waves look like bottom teeth cos of the way they point but I can't consolidate the rest of the image 🤔
The dark parts of sand are the negative space (open mouth) with the light part closest to the water being the white underside. the dark patch near the top is the shark's nose hole thing, George pointed out the eye! The other light patch of sand with the beach towels is just beach and not part of the shark. Hope this can help you see it! :3
The stairs at 11:13 look like something you see where some bloke design with Eco Friendly Wood Veneers & Galvanised Square Steel Beams with Screws borrowed from his 2nd Aunt.

And now the egg carton will be useless for using as plant starting pots (at least for the ones that are okay with the size) But...I still don't get why they are doing that...be quirky I guess, I know gardening with them is very situational though.
in canada we already gave ecofriendly egg cartons. theyre made of recycled cardboard. they work and look exactly the same as styrofoam but they dont make me want to crumple up and die everytime i have to open it
3:52 egg cartons can’t be more environmentally friendly as is since the cardboard that’s used can’t be recycled anymore and is safe to be used in gardens there is no need to redesign them.

The logo with all the lines is made like that because it uses the golden ratio. Each circle is a certain ratio, using the Fibonacci sequence. They are intertwined to create the desired shape. I disagree on the Jaws poster, it's so clever. I wish it was more of a normal print rather than a poster thought cause I'm not an angsty teenager anymore 🤣

With the wine rack staircase they're forgetting you could just have a cupboard under the stairs with a wine rack in. You could even use it to keep unwanted children in (This is a Harry Potter reference, I am not a monster).

The egg carton is almost as bad as the plastic lids they now attach to the plastic bottles so as you try to twist them off the liquid just spills everywhere
