Every single time I come to a bump in the road on my gimp journey, you have a video explaining how to get over it! You make running my business so much easier, Thank You!
If you're opening a PSD file in GIMP, how do you work with the text in the original PSD file? I noticed that when I opened it in GIMP the text now appears as simple layers. This makes the text in the original PSD file un-editable in GIMP. Is there a way around this? Great tutorial video btw.
Came to say this. This is super informative but as someone not familiar with Gimp, it was tricky to see what was going on with the different layers and small icons near them because the logo is in the way.
Having the massive logo over the buttons made this incredibly difficult to follow the directions. I have to RU-vid other videos and hope they fill in the blanks.
@Mike, is there an easier way nowadays to edit mockup PSD files in gimp, I've got an envato subscription and would like to be able to do it somewhat easier, thanks
Brilliant! Question: how does saving as TIFF, to preserve layer information, differ from saving as PSD? I imagine TIFF won't retain smart objects, layer effects, etc. Thanks for posting!
3:40 So a “smart object” is really just one image embedded nondestructively inside another? Sounds like it would be better to use Inkscape to handle the overall layout, and just leave the editing of the embedded image to GIMP.
thank you so much for this! i managed to get up to adding my own design on top of original smart image, but im unable to adjust the size of my image to match it to the smart image, meaning i have no handle bars to select =( anyone know how i can fix this please? many thanks
Can you try the "scale" feature in gimp. When you open it a small dialog box opens with the pixel sizes to the right of that is a small box icon in the middle. Click on it to unlock the image so that that you can stop proportional scaling. Now your image should have handles that you can drag as needed.
The little "wilbur" icon? I have no idea what you're saying and I'm blown away that someone who clearly believes they are an instructor of sorts completely assumes every gimp user uses the same configuration/layout.
Hey, its free help and there are only so many hours in the day. I bet if you wrote and told him your set up parameters and paid for support he could probably tell you what you need to do to solve your problem..
