I'm sure most people do not have the lathe spacing between centers to turn as one solid piece. The other consideration is finding stock that long "for the average" woodworker. Those who do this as a living have developed resources for the quality material needed for a single uninterrupted bed post.

Yes, you’re right about that. The bed I was describing to make was a “low” post, not requiring such a long lathe. As it turned out, I decided to change the bed project for one that doesn’t require turning, which the average woodworker will be able to take on. Sometimes I’m showing things, like the long posts, because people enjoy learning how they were made, not because I’m expecting them to make it. There’s all kinds of people watching. Thanks!

I tried to watch your show on pbs providence ri on thursday at 4:30am and studio was not on for your show and subsequent woodworking program. No respect. I wish you could get a better time slot.

I appreciate that Ed, and I have no worries about when they air. This is now two years since that season first played, so it has been seen many times and the first few were prime time Saturday. Who knows if and when we will get another season of episodes, I would enjoy it but it comes down to getting the sponsorship funding...seems there is always some available for another cooking show, but for woodworking shows it’s hard to come by 😎
