In this video, I will show you, how to paint transparent layered silk flowers in watercolor.

@@jamesmartin3425 use a hair dryer to dry the first petals, then the process will be faster. Don't worry, everything comes with practice. At first it's 2 days, then it's an hour

Hi Lola, I hope you are doing well. I found your channel yesterday and immediately purchased the ink based watercolor you recommended for transparent effects. I agree that I have never gotten this level of transparency with diox or ultramarine purple. One question: in this video, are you starting the blue shadows at the end ? Or is it left for viewers to add in as they see fit? Apologies if I missed it in the video. Thank you in advance.

That’s awesome work, I usually face the issue of too much water, or that my paper become too soft and the water damage it.. I wish if you can show us the entire process, including when you load your brush with more water, when you clean your brush before loading it with more color..

Oh, my dear friend. I have tried so many times to fit everything into the lens, but it does not work. If I make the flower focus further, then people will start to complain that they are too far away 🤣 You know, my movements will not even give you a clear idea. This all comes only with experience. When this is your 100th flower, you will clearly understand what and how much you need 👌

New to your channel and the second video I’ve seen. Was wondering if you’ve ever done a video on how you preserve your paintings. Anything you sell or want to keep, you don’t want to fade or get stained.

Hello, my new friend. I will not make such a video, because watercolor is a very delicate material and can be spoiled by any impregnations-coverings until the color changes or yellowing. I do not want to risk it. Watercolor is best protected by glass and the absence of direct sunlight. This is what my mentor, who is a member of the American and British Artists' Association ACBA, told us. As for storage, just do not store it in the sun, protect it from moisture. I store my works in a dark cabinet in a huge album - I put my works between the sheets of the album). And also, use paint with good lightfastness, such as Daniel Smith, Rembrandt, Winsor Newton. Tell me about your experience of covering works if you have any. I will be interested to hear what you think about this.

@@Lolaaquarella Unfortunately I’m not an artist. I took art in high school and loved it. I didn’t carry on with it because of art history. Biggest regret I have and that’s saying something. So I live vicariously through real artists.

Ефртлы) It's not small, it's number 6. I use it to control the edges of the petals well with the tip of the brush. This is important. Plus I make a gradient along the edges and smooth it out. A clumsy big brush is not suitable for this.

@@funnydogmom You know, my paint doesn't rise even on cellulose.. Take a look at my community, there's an example of a transparent technique on cellulose. You've got me stumped. Maybe you're not drying the first layer well?

Hello, my friend. I'm glad you liked this watercolor. It's my favorite. I add shadows throughout the video at once. I just make each next petal darker. That's the whole secret.
