A visit to platform 1 to 9 at the rebuilt London Bridge station to view the class 700 and 707 Siemens Desiro City units in service.
Southeastern have received some, but not yet all, of the 707s from South Western and have started to introduce them into service. They carry a variation on the blue livery used by Southeastern on its class 375, 377 and 395 units, with a dark grey window stripe added.
Some class 465 and 466 units have already gone off lease and the expectation was that more would do so, however it appears that Southeastern intend to bring back some of the retired units as part of a bigger shake up which has not yet been announced.

Super video with lots and lots of continuity. Well done Mr Boogie. I assume the seats in the new units and hard and unforgiving. Stay.

Interesting to compare this with your 2018 London Bridge video and to see how things have changed.

The rest of the Class 707 Desiro City that are with South Western Railway will be transferred to Southeastern in August with most of the Class 707 “City Beam” to be used on Hayes, Dartford, Orpington and Crayford routes. And SWR hopefully to introduce the Class 701 “Arterio” before the end of the year.

You will be lucky re the 701s being introduced by the end of the year, the trains have a multitude of faults on them, SWR have not started any training yet. It is estimated that the SWR Class 455s will be in service for at least another 2 years.

@@EM-yk1dwwill the 701s be in service by this year?

Informed sources said December 10 but that is now being contradicted by people who probably know. Perhaps you will need to ask your question again in another year.

@@Shadow_x12 Apparently a low key introduction next week on Windsor services.

signs of much needed investment and great new trains. Thanks for the video, but I think I prefer "my" London Bridge of the 1980's with the 4-EPB 4-SUB and Hastings units! Great Days commuting Brighton to Woolwich :-) retrospect is a great thing!

I commuted from BR3 and SE9 to the City from October 74 to August 14 so I appreciate your point of view very much. I just caught the pre 70s rebuild on the SE side.

Judging by the departures from platform 6 and the condition of the crossover at 8.00, it seems that at present at least Thameslink don't need three platforms at LB...

As far as I am aware Thameslink only use 4 and 5. Connections are available to other platforms in case either of these are unavailable. These connections also allow flexibility for Southeasterns Charing Cross services.

The 707's are now established on the Dartford Loop. They ride ok, but I find them to be dreadfully uncomfortable with the Fainsa Ironing Board seats, which I consider unfit for purpose. Transport for Wales found that the same seats had been specified for the new class 197's they had inherited from Keolis and the English DfT. After consideration TfW considered these Fainsa seats to be uncomfortable and have committed £1.9m to specify Fainsa Sophia seats as replacements. Sadly these Sophia seats are not that much better as travellers on the Great Western have found out.

But they were when they were built. The oldest 375s still have Adtranz on the step plate.
