Just found out he passed away about 20 years ago. A great tingeof sadness when I watch this fabulous comedy which I've rediscovered on Gold . RIP Norman Beaton who went far too soon at 60.

Love to binge watch this comedy. Never fails to cheer me up! The British comedy from this era are for me the best and nothing has come close. Vicar of Dibley, Thin Blue Line, Dinnerladies and Desmond's are my comfort TV.

Desmond's from 1989, absolutely 💯 loved watching this on Saturdays. One of my favorites at that time, brilliant programme. TRUE CLASSIC !!!!!!!!!!! Norman Beaton / Desmond, he was awesome throughout. RIP 🙏 🕊 🙏 03:28 Lisa Geoghan, great actor who also played Polly Page in the BILL (92 - 04), another brilliant program. Ram John Holder - Porkpie, totally hilarious - awesome character (YEAH MAN !!!!!!). Not surprised that he got his own series / spin off from Desmond's for 2 season from 1995. Shame it was cut short. Original Windrush Generation! Those opening credits told a whole story so did the song. This and Oliver at Large was so deep in my childhood! I didn't know who was funnier Desmond or Oliver!😆😆😆
