See where Martin Luther went to school, and where he hid from his enemies. See where Bach was born, where a saint got married, and where East German cars were built.

My host family in high school lived in Thüringen near Eisenach. It was cool to see some of the old sights again. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. :)

Excellent video. I was there for a day in 1999 on a field trip when I was studying at the University of Kassel. Beautiful town with a gorgeous castle. The town looks even better now than it did then. Even a decade after reunification, they were still working on fixing the town up. The Wartburg is fantastic. If I remember right, it's mostly original and considered one of the most historic castles in Germany. King Ludwig II of Bavaria copied a lot of it's design features when he built Neuschwanstein. Eisenach is where I remember first trying my all time favorite German street food, Thueringer Bratwurst. It was raining the day I was there, which made the town and castle look and feel like a scene from Lord of the Rings.

It was raining the day I visited there. It really did add to the atmosphere. I didn't make it to the factory though. I bet in the rain it would look like a movie set. The castle and the center of town really did have a mystical atmosphere in the rain, like a scene from Lord of the Rings.

I'm only 99% sure that you didn't do a video on it before but in the case you haven't I would like to recommend Burg Eltz to you. It is a beautifull partly still inhabited castle with a lot of history and being generally in good shape

My wife and I anxiously await each new travelogue. We've been to German twice but that just sorta "whet our appetite" for more...our daughter-in-law is from Munchengladbach. My wife and I were in Berlin just a week or so before you released your long Berlin piece. We watched carefully and time and again we would say things like...we sat right there on THAT bench...we had lunch RIGHT there...the little shop you liked was right around the corner from there...and our first venture out on our first day was to the Berlin Wall memorial...we were staying just a couple of block away! I don't know when or if we can ever get back. Please keep up the good work!

I was station with the 11th armored cavalry in 1992 and I went up to where the border used to exist at Eisenach. It brought back memories of where I served a bit south, just to the east of the town of Weiden , which was up on the Czechoslovak border. Eisenach is a beautiful town!

Glad to finally see the city. We were planning to visit there in July on our Thüringen vacation, but slowly it dropped off. First we opted out of going to the Wartburg as the hike would have probably been too strenuous on our son. Also because of the Luther Year, only audio guides were available, which is not so younger child-friendly. I still wanted to go to the Bachhaus, but the days before we were planning to go, I caught a cold and then had a terrible headache. Oh well, another reason to return in the future!

Many believe that J.S. Bach was born in the house known today as the Bachhaus. This is not the case. He was born in the neighborhood not far to this house. The place could be seen from the Bachhaus’ backyard.

Been there on a Bach tour - loved the place but I want to go again and visit the Wartburg castle (not the car factory though, as a teenager one of my friends had one of those for a short time and I don't think I've ever been in a more horrible car).

It's interesting that you didn't include that corny legend about the ink stain on the wall in the room where Luther translated the New Testament... (I don't remember it exactly any more myself, since it's been 25 years sine I first heard it)

Memberberry 1) It's probably better to say this as "I don't like how long the music at the end is. Maybe cut it down a bit?" That's feedback, instead of a request. 2) They're at the end… If you're watching a playlist on a Chromecast I can see them being annoying, but otherwise, couldn't you just, y'know, skip them?

You should do Münster, Westfalia. If only for student city atmosphere, bicycle capital of germany and of course loads of churches including the dark medieval backstory of hanging cages in the towers for religious cultists to rot

@rewboss
@rewboss 7 лет назад
@DarkSharxx

There are too many old things or infrastructure, they need some more modernity to have a proper mix. This is how they will have 200 years from now to show the modern times of today... Every age should be well represented that is how u do justice to that particular time in the distant future... GERMANY IS NOT DOING JUSTICE TO THE 21ST CENTURY. Their school buildings, public buildings, dwellings housing, roads, bridges need a complete facelift to be in tune with this century...As they are reluctant to procreate that is how they are reluctant to move with modern times, pretty soon more than half of the population will be pensioners and gradually kick the buckets. How can u guarantee prosperity and continuity on selfish deeds....
