I'm dumb with the Rasputin stuff. Making too many mistakes lately trying to rush out content. Gonna slow it down and get more fact checking first. Just not paying attention.
Ahh man I was going to put my lore nerd glass on and go like uh actually streamer/youtuber he was trying to defend Io but the Pyramids disabled him with their spookiness.
i heard ana built a shell for him to put himself into. So maybe later we’ll get some cutscenes where ana fucks with him and see him essentially come to life as a frame
Narratively, shutting down Rasputin at the start of the season is a smart move. Otherwise, lore nerds such as myself would keep asking, "but why isn't Rasputin shooting the pyramids like he did during the first Collapse?!?"
Correction on the cutscene. That was Rasputin actually attacking the Pyramid as it approached Io. The ship sent a counter attack, which was clearly effective because it deactivated Ra-Ra entirely.
The Savathun's court area was a recycled area from the Dreadnought, it's also very similar gameplay-wise to that same area: the big door in the Sunless Cell strike where you need to transmat some locks to disable the runes.
Yeah, I'm almost certain that the first cutscene is when the Pyramid actually approached Io. Rasputin and Ana were working to attack it, and successfully struck a blow, though the Pyramid simply went "Hell naw, bitch."
Mick Breeden In my opinion this season is just ok so far. What really makes it for me is the dungeon, if it wasn’t for prophecy this season would be comparable to worthy for me. I feel like as always with destiny everyone is just in the honeymoon phase with this season. Give it 2-3 more weeks and everyone will be complaining about this season. Just watch
Giann 3250 that’s literally how any video game is. call of duty dropped a new season and next week it’ll be back to complaints. ea sports games have complainants every week after the first. fortnite has complaints daily. destiny isn’t really different in that regard
This gives me season of dawn/opulence vibes, which is a good thing. Only negative is trials is still half baked, but that's not really the season's fault.
I love how everybody is like "The day of reckoning has come...the darkness is here" and drifter is just all like "Darkness infused engrams? Ah shucks, looks like more business opportunities to me."
I can understand why some veteran players would be upset about getting weapons from other seasons... But as a new player who didn't play in Season of Dawn, I'm really glad I was able to get a Breachlight. Trying to get Martyr's retribution now. I've been having a lot of fun with Breachlight and Graviton Lance in the crucible without SBMM
I think people are actually mad about reissued weapons like lonesome and gnawing hunger not being any different from the old versions but they now have a higher power cap. So u have to grind for a gun you already have all over again.
Mr New House Now THATS a valid argument, honestly, why doesn’t bungo just update all the already existing copies of the weapons to the new versions, all without touching their rolls of course.
@@Fr0zenEagle I've got like 5 or 6 Breachlights. I'm still searching for a better roll tho. I've already got one Martyr's Retribution by now, but I didn't really like the roll either, so I'm going to keep grinding a bit
@@acostco9921 his io warmind bunker sector likely got shut down by either savathun or the darkness. Especially when Mars is gonna be destroyed soon , he probably wants to prepare himself before that happens.
I think this season is off to a great start. The way to get loot is amazing. The new Dungeon in amazing. The story going in is just spine tingling. Looking forward to seeing how the season goes.
@@grizzlybehr1902 as I'm writing this now, I'm in rasputins chamber. Went back to double check on the off chance all that had happened is I'd somehow glitched into a previous instance, but no still allowed in. Got no explanation for why I'm here and it says the doors locked for you.
@@wv11989 mebbe. If I were an ai and the pyramids did manage to wound me somehow or corrupt my gizms, I'd definitely keep a backup or two of myself somewhere.
@@dasnomaden wow that's a trip. His door wouldn't open for me at all. I even tried clearing all of the enemies and stuff to see if it made a difference but still couldn't get in. Is he still up and running? Or was he dark?
It's a very good start, promising aspects to keep using and others still need more tweaks. Overall to me I'm happy and excited for the future but all holding back my hype. I can't wait to see the fall and beyond but as for this season, a strong start isnt the only thing the game needs. It needs a strong finish to roll into season 12 and to keep the momentum going for the next three years of content. Love the video datto, have a wonderful weekend my man
My favorite thing about this season vs previous ones is that the grinds are optional. Currencies from bounties aren't directly tied to progression, progression is instead done via a short weekly quest. The Triumphs all have one-and-done objectives. And the new gear is dropped engrams you can get from any activity. The only "mandatory" grinds this season are power level, glory, and the three activity quests for shaders and emblems from strikes, crucible, and Gambit. This frees us up to do whatever we really want this season, and that's fantastic. I tapped out two seasons ago because the mandatory seasonal progression grinds in Undying and Dawn took so much of my free time that I was burning out hard, and was ignoring other things in the game, or other games that I wanted to play. This season I can go back and do some old quests Ive yet to finish, or actually spend some time getting weapon rolls. I'm happy with it.
@@jacksonmcphail546 Tons of the "content creators" seem to already be at the lightcap. Like, bruh, you did everything that could be done grinding hardcore for 8 hours with a reliable fireteam that's equally sweaty. Yea you're gonna get bored.
The problem is its their job, if they only play 8 hours a week they dont make money. They need to be constantly playing for money which sucks for them but we obviously get to enjoy the game a lot more
@@Itz_Kry yeah but that's thier problem to be entertaining and cycle in different content. Even though these seasons have sucked lately, they are working on 3 expansions. It's not Bungos fault, cuz the streamers and no lives burn through a season in two weeks. That is the main reason, why they decided to timegate content. There is always a community Rush of euphoria at the beginning, then players eventually get angry and bitter when they don't have anything left to do.
The intro story mission was awesome. so much lore implications and for the first time since forsakens intro, the game really had a sense of urgency and high stakes
I’m nervous that I am still in a honeymoon phase with this season. I’m happy there’s at least a new dungeon that I have yet to go through, but I’m still feeling sore from Season of the Bounties and leveling drifters stuff is yet another “can’t do this content unless you do your weekly chores”. :/
In the opening cutscenes that was no simulation, that was all the warsats on IO. We didn't use any warsats made on Io on Almighty, Rasputin made those to attack the pyramids since he knows they were coming. And the attack failed and the pyramids disabled Rasputin via his Io bunker.
I haven't even done the Dungeon yet, and this season is already off to a better start than any recent season. I knew loot was going to just be older stuff rehashed, so I've tempered my expectations and am pleasantly surprised at how fun they are. In terms of the Gambit public event, Drifter said in the season of Drifty that he was preparing us for the Darkness to come, or something to that effect...so he kept true to his word. And honestly, it's fun because I can now carry randoms without fear of losing progress from an invader. Once I reach level, it's going to be a lot of fun farming it for Umbrals. ORDEALS NOW HAVE TAKEN NFs...we can now farm for Horror's Least and Militia's with pubs...although at this point the only reason to do this is to fill out your collections or to have a rapid fire arc pulse or legendary kinetic GL for Crucible. Lots of good stuff...this season has been a breath of fresh air, and a very welcome one, at that.
The trinity ghoul catalyst drops from the completion of that quest step, whether it be your first strike, crucible match, or however else you get to complete it.
What I like about the contact event is that it doesn’t feel like I’m forced to play it unlike the public event from last season. I didn’t do any contact events for the first 3 days (besides the required one for the quest) and I still got a lot of new loot and increased my light level.
Btw the game completely locks up if you fill your inventory with umbral engrams before receiving the one from the drifter which unlocks the decoder this happened to me and forced me to create a new character to fix the bug. As a newer player this hurt the experience and i would recommend if you are lower level 900< just stay around the area of the public event on io before doing anything else to progress the quest before filling your inventory with engrams so your game doesn’t lock up
If you read the lore cards, it seems Rasputin has been loaded into an engram by Ana Bray and will try to load him into an exo unit. AKA Rasputin might become Fel Winter 2.0. Which might be why we got the whole Fel Winter quest.
Beginning cutscene was rasputin’s satellites firing at the pyramid ship approaching Io. They failed, Pyramid ships landed on the planet. With Rasputin not being at his pre-Destiny Golden Age capacity, im assuming the immense power frequencies/ gravity force that 1 pyramid landing basically crippled him heavily.
People seem to forget that this is Rasputin’s second time “fighting” the darkness. The first was during the end of the golden age when Rasputin was in his absolute strongest and failed to stop the pyramid fleet from entering the system and then the collapse happened. Rasputin promptly went dark to save himself while humanity burned.
I've been having a bit of an issue with the drops, I main a hunter(yeah ik ik crucify me) Who is a 1017 light level character I have others I dont use however I've recently been getting 750 engrams randomly be they the powerful/bounty or sometimes being umbral I'm not sure what to do or if I'm doing something wrong
@@KingTraut yeah it really puts a damper on the grind for the dungeon idk when they'll fix it or if theres any advice on how to stop the bug from happening if there is a way :(
I interpreted the first cutscene as not a simulation, but actually Rasputin fighting the Pyramid ship approaching Io, failing today do anything, and then overloading/crashing/fleeing
Dungeon was tons of fun and for the most part, I agree with your criticism of the mechanics. The first and final encounter pretty much had the same mechanic for dps phase, so there wasn't a lot of change there. I thought the second encounter's usage of the mechanic with the room was pretty fantastic though, a fairly unique use of both the mechanic and the environment. Maybe it would've been more noticeable for some if each face had a different set of mobs or something. Overall, great stuff, great loot (though not putting trials of the nine weapons in the pool is a missed opportunity imo) and an overall better start to the season.
I'm ready for this next dlc and the future of what destiny is trying to do, but I really just want to know what ever happened to calus? Are we ever going to find him? Kill him? Is the menagerie and raids the only affiliation with him? I'm just curious about that whole story line because I thought he was going to do something big with guardians.
For me I’m really enjoying the season but I agree with you in that I’m worried they won’t be able to keep the momentum because they already did som much stuff within the first few days.
I think it'll maintain momentum. Want all the dungeon goodies and lots of quests have been mined. On top of that, GM nightfalls, solstice of heroes, and moments of triumphs all hit in july.. not so far away
Datto, was kind of hoping you'd remark to the artifact mod that allows exotic pulse rifles to be added to the potential "champion arsenal". or if The Vow was still the go-to for exotic champion guns.
I don't know if its because I've sat out the last 2 seasons, but I still need to hit Legend and get the Elimination kills. And I'm over here with Redrix, Recluse. Etc. A tad annoying, and this'll just make the sell to get my friends back into Trials that much harder.
So am i one of a few rare players getting "powerful" drops and there at 750 instead of 1000+? Happened on my Warlock and Hunter last night, completed Crucible rotatation and got a 750 weapon and 2 pieces of armor :/
The valor reset on the new trials thing doesn’t carry over, I have over 7 resets but it doesn’t count towards the quest. Not like I ever planned on playing trials anyway...
My only concern with this season is we’ve had really great stuff like the new dungeon and the public event and pyramid stuff all coming at once, but, the roadmap shows mostly stuff we got on day one, and then stuff we already get anyway like moments of triumph and solstice. I know the seasonal model runs dry after a while but I’m scared that this is all we’re getting besides the weekly interference missions and exotic quests...
It is more likely the Veil deactivated Rasputin - after all, they are millions of years old whilst he's been around only for centuries... however, there may be a reconcilliation possible with him and the Traveler. I love the Umbral weapons (especially the AR, feeling a little on par with the Trials-equivalent). It was nice to receive the Trinity Ghoul catalyst myself this week as well. My only real annoyance is that Prophecy doesn't have matchmaking, which I think is a missed opportunity for coop play over its Shattered Throne predecessor.
I’m pretty sure that opening wasn’t a simulation, but what was actually happening in real time, as there’s apparently a lore book where Ana and Jinju emergency port Rasputin into an experimental Exo frame.
I thought it was hilarious how we spent all of last season upgrading Rasputin to full power, and he gets taken out in the opening cutscene to this new season, also this season gives me Dreaming City vibes, and it’s def better than Worthy, but Worthy was a POS.
Last season sucked for numerous reasons but I think the part that was most problematic for me was I couldn’t just play a little each week and feel like there was a point. I didn’t even get past level 30 on my season pass. This season I’m not gonna be playing every day but now I feel like there’s a reason to hop on so I can pick up some umbral engrams, powerful/pinnacle rewards and do the new dungeon once I get my power up.
0:54 SPOILERS: (you have been warned) there have been datamined quests about us evacuating each planet that has pyramids on them by the orders of zavala, including us gathering Rasputin core fragments etc to evacuate him from mars AKA, some shit gon go down later this season, and the planets getting vaulted will be explained in game with some sort of reason
I like the loot pool choice aspect (reminds me of the Menagerie), and I'm into the fact that there's a weekly mission to complete. Also, Contact is waaayyyyy more fun than Sereph Towers!
I hope in the next year bungie reintroduces weekly raids or something like that so the raids got through a loop on what raids give you powerfuls, I would also like them to do that for dungeons
I like Contact quite a bit, especially compared to Towers. I am disappointed that Bungie once again failed to show instead of telling with the Rasputin scene. Too much rule of cool, not enough clarity in the emotional stakes. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about the Umbral engrams, but I adore the Drifter dialogue.
So erm... I'm thinking a lot of people misunderstood that first mission completely... The savathun part is not in the ship, it's on IO, the ship tries to pull you in saying you don't need weapons, we only share the truth and then savathun hijacks you and teleports you to her. Afterwards Eris also says that Savathun is blocking the darkness from reaching out to us property
I'm taking this season for what it is. The lead-up to Year 4 and actual game-changing new stuff. I'm enjoying the season so far, and there are a couple of things happening during the season that should help the longevity of it. That being said, I know I'm gonna get bored at some point, but I have the new CoD season to do stuff with, as well as a new Borderlands 3 DLC coming out, so I think I'll be much less exasperated with Destiny by the end of this season than I was at the end of the last season.
I’m pretty sure Ana Bray and Rasputin were actually attacking Pyramid ships at the beginning of the season and the Darkness just kinda yeeted Rasputin Also whenever you focus an Umbral Engram it gives a chance of dropping powerful. That’s why some of them are randomly higher
Aww, was hoping for a comment on the earliest look at sunsetting and the fact that we're already getting "new" versions of weapons that are exactly identical stat and perk wise with the only difference being the season indicator and the max infusion level. Particularly when this includes gear that has not even been sunset yet where there's no way to upgrade or turn our old versions of the same EXACT weapons into the "new" version forcing us to grind out the same exact rolls on the same exact weapons all over again.
My feeling toward Destiny now, after the preseason trailer of the history and the coming stuff is, the actual story elements would have made a great multi chapter single player campaign. I’m not sure in can wait till 2022 for a possible resolution.
Just having an endgame to grind up to is a huge improvement over the last couple seasons. I actually want to get up to max light because that lets me do the dungeon. Sure you also needed that for stuff like GM nightfalls, but that wasn't really new content, just a hard mode, and while a welcome addition, isn't enough on its own to really hold my interest. The dungeon by comparison is something new, with its own pool of new loot. Then stack on a story that actually interesting and feels important, rather than just another villain of the week (or season in this case), and it's vastly more engaging. The main thing these seasons needed was reasons to care, and this season has so far delivered. The game has other problems, but they feel a lot more minor when the story is actually engaging.
I wonder where the real quest stuff is? Didn't we used to need to level up in order to do quests and go through the story? Like, a quest, a few public events to level, then the next quest, and so on?
Ok how do I even get this story and whatnot. I just got the game like a week ago and the main thing I’m confused about is how exactly you can start separate stories and how side quests relate to the main game.
In a P2P game, Connections always need to be priority number 1. SBMM only works if they can guarantee a clean connection each game which lets face it, is impossible in a P2P game. I already notice my PvP matches feel 1000x better than they did. Im not getting lobbies against Chinese 6 stacks anymore and havent had people teleporting around or lagging out of their mind. Not to mention the change from CBMM to SBMM was made because of a expanding playerbase that is now about 1/3 of what it was with the shadowkeep launch. So far im happy with this season and the changes theyve made. The reload perk nerfs really dont feel all that bad and im loving how strong Trinity Ghoul is with the catalyst.
I think this season will be (and already is) better than season 10, but i don't know if it can hold interest for the upwards of 100 days it needs to, honestly it'll be a good season to jump in on the first couple weeks to get power levels and then come back nearing it's end
I hit max light with 11 hours left on season 10 not too happy with the level grind I hate having to infuse my gear all over again but playing control for drops with no sbmm is amazing dropped a 50 kill game for the first time in months
As soon as the last season told me to do PvP stuff to get past rank 1, I uninstalled. This season I've made it to rank 22 in about 3 days, I did hunger for more Destiny 2 content but last season was really fucked for me, for this one, I plan to max out the season. I've been having a good time so far!
