Seriously! What were they thinking. It's like that for most pve and pvp nerfs too. Too much usage so they nerf it and then they release new weapons/armor/mods that are broken and then rinse and repeat

In the post where they announced this change, they also predicted that this would happen. They know there’s a problem and there’s apparently there’s a weapon mod rework coming at some point (now whether it actually fixes the problem remains to be seen).

The other options are good, but also need some PvE buffing to be ideal, but would break PvP. Also gives room for more things like adept reload etc. to be stronger.

They literally backed in the damage mods into the weapon base damage, its not like a side effect of powercreep. It's like they went "Fuck It, we ball"

Uh didn’t they say in the SAME twab/twid/info dump that they are adding more weapon mods to compensate for the lack of options, wether or not they had mentioned if they had an idea of what they would be or not?

While we're at it, can we get rid of the negatives from adept mods? Most people don't even use adepts period, so why does something like adept back up mag also have a -15 handling tradeoff?

@@wixzy_ there shouldn't be a tradeoff in the first place. I don't see the problem with it being a straight upgrade to the regular version, let there be an incentive to get an adept weapon and use the adept mod.

The adept backup mag isn't even good since it doesn't override the max magazine cap so you're just better off with a regular backup mag anyway

The only problem with adept mods is that weps are power crept to max, so adept backup often doesn't even add a mag.

They wanted to get rid of people only using the spec mods and now the problem is worse because people are all running one mod instead of at least choosing between minor major and boss

To be fair...we don't exactly have many options now period. I like trying to find loadouts that r meta but not the Meta everyone is talking bout or making vids about. For example, EVERYONE running lairs hunter build or celestial hunt sniper build but ive been having alot of fun using the "spin to win" build but literally have yet to c ppl talking bout it.

Not the case at all only a handful of weapons were meta bc of the weapon type and mage profile and some were meta literalist bc they could have mods(cough anything not exotic) removing the spec mods and buffing the entire sandbox has made a multitude of more weapons viable across the board. They just need to revamp the mod system

Yeah I don’t know how they thought removing the mods and not replacing them was a good move. They could have just opened up enemy spec mods to it, like taken spec, fallen spec all those. I know it would just result in people just using those but at least there’d be some variation, and it wouldn’t have made every single weapon that can’t equip backup mag less viable.

Another thing is a mod that basically makes all weapons kinda function as kinetics. Lowe the amount gained, but allow them to give progress to BOTH sides of the transcendence bar. And then buff how much it gives to kinetics.

I would unironically love that. Rolls like Explos/Incan Zaouli's would work wonders with it. They'd probably just have to check a box to stop em from synergizing with the "bonus energy from kinetics" fragment but this is otherwise perfect.

that would get rid of the point of kinetic weapons (energy primaries are better for everything else that isn't filling transcendence bar) it would also somewhat get rid of the ergo sum perk that charges both bars making it not really be a exotic perk anymore lol

Tuned optics: +7 zoom Cqb optics: -10 zoom Hairpin trigger: +8% ROF (primary only) Bandolier: +1 reserve Targeting optics: Applies target finder effect to scopes. Tuned barrel: reduces hip fire bloom. Power pack: Activates traits on orb pickup Anti armor casing: +5 impact damage, -20 blast radius (explosives). Piercing rounds: Applies piercing. @@Xoltie it would create the same problem as the current mod lineup minor ttk/dps increase == instant use for everyone. also, now that I think about it, unless my math is wrong 'antiarmor casing' would be like a 17% damage buff to rockets lol And power pack would be too strong/not work with plenty of perks also the zoom modifying traits would make snipers even more busted in pvp (in the right hands, than they already are) aim cones are still tied to zoom.

About time I found someone in this comment section that made sense! I'm not gonna add 2 or 3 bullets to a mag while this can help Guarantee that 30% Bait & Switch buff and some of those other buffs that have short windows to take advantage of them!

The only other mod is Quick Access... yeah idk. Everything we could ask for is in our armor. Outside of +10 Reload, maybe partial reload mods.

I use Counterbalance Mod on my Snipers. I am just terrible at keeping my sights steady. I am not like others, who can run, aim, and snipe a target in a second (lol)

counter balance has been on more of my guns than backup. effective dps is more important than potential. and its quicker to proc focused fury and a few others with smaller mags

Targeting Adjuster might help you more if you’re just making one shot at a time, Counterbalance is for recoil

Big tip, only use counterbalance mod if your recoil direction DOESN’T end in a number with 5, for example 75, 55, 85, etc. Numbers that end with a 5 tend to have vertical recoil so if you have a weapon that has 55 and put the mod on it’ll go to 70 and cause it’s recoil to harshly skew one way essentially ruining your recoil direction. The only exception to this is 100 where in that case you get perfect recoil direction.

As someone that uses hip fire on some guns when backup gives like 1 ammo to a 30 round, and has also messed with the ready speed ones, they kinda slap for things where you run a lot, like excision and the add clear Encounters in raids like totems or caretaker

​@yoshz5389 good. The helmet is already a contested slot between super generators, orb makers and ammo mods. Glove orb maker mods got nerfed, as did reaper. I personally say let kills or sustained damage make orbs of power or even elemental pickups.

or just revert the orbs to the old system where rapid kills with masterworked weapons generate orbs, then for exotic make it a flat rapid kills generate orbs, no need for catalysts on them. crafted weapons would generate orbs after the intrinsic stat bonus is applied

I did find one good use of counterbalance being: playing on controller with a rapid/multi hit gun that rolls with headstone. Just to absolutely make sure you get the crit on more unwieldy weapons and get perfect straight upwards recoil. Or maybe just me because I have weird sensitivity settings, with max on unscoped, and almost min on scoped.

I just want either the ability to get orbs on weapons again, the ability to swap element, or combine the primary and secondary slots into one large 18 slot page so can doubble up on solar weapons etc.

Pretty sure u can still get orbs from weapon kills. It may be more restricted like tied to an element type or something. I'd have to look at the artifact or subclasses to be sure on that tho.

Swapping elements will never come back now that weapons roll with element exclusive perks. Otherwise you’d be able to get Voltshot on a Solar weapon or Chill clip on a Strand weapon

Someone had an idea which I thought was pretty good: why not make mods based off of bad/underutilized/retired weapon perks? For example, a Thresh mod was suggested, where it could be like “Kills with this weapon give a small amount of Super energy,” or maybe an Underdog perk, like “When you reach critical health, this weapon’s magazine is fully reloaded.” Now, of course, this would only be with perks that gave little to no effect in the first place, as Underdog and Thresh do. Maybe they wouldn’t be as powerful as the OG perks, but it would be a way to bring them back into the fray in at least some way. Maybe this is just more power creep, but idk, I thought it was nice.

Panic Magwell: +10 reload speed when shields deplete Aftermarket Muzzle: +3/maybe 4, to range Illegal Sights: highlight targets and specific data about them (Hive Guardians would be highlighted yellow when they have a super active, same for PvP) Polybionix Foregrip: slight boost to stability and recoil direction the longer you shoot the weapon without unADSing

dont sleep on Target Adjuster for Triple Tap or Fourth Times The Charm guns, the ammo you reclaim with the additional precision shots will be far more than backup mag

Don't remember the proper name, but the quick swap mod on auto-loading weapons or utility weapons is pretty great actually. Quick swap to your auto-loading blinding grenade launcher, or your chill clip riptide, then swap back to your damage weapon after blinding or freezing your target.

I use: Counterbalance to boost fast firing weapons to 100 RD. Targeting Adjuster to boost slow firing weapons for better headshots. Quick-Access Sling for weapons usually used in-between gameplay. Backup Mag for everything else.

Maybe it’s just me but I use quick access sling on most weapons, especially for dps rotations. It just feels nicer to have the weapons come draw faster even if there is minimal usage for it outside of pvp and dps

Bump loader definitely needs to be a percentage so large magazines feel the appropriate effect. All great ideas though.

One annoying thing about backup mags i found out is that it can eat up/lower the reserves of some weapons, notably LFRs, which make them even worse than if you just gave them any of the other lackluster mods

The reload speed, glimmer/xp booster, and steady ground mods seem like reasonable additions. The bump loader may be a bit more powerful than anticipated and the prismatic mod seems *way* too unique to simply use as an interchangeable mod.

One mod we NEED Is what I call Osmio Mag turns the weapon to the same element as your subclass, i feel kinetic weapons are kind of obsolete and mods like this would help.

Ah, so the old element mod system? I have 3 of this old AR from vanilla days, one of each flavor, back when we could change the element of a gun ourselves. As for an Osmosis mag, that could be interesting, it would definitely free up a perk slot for certain weapons.

Heavy fluted barrel adding 2 points to range for every ten points in range so if you have 70 range it will become 84

This is kind of a niche complaint because counterbalance mod does help for some guns that can't get a 90-100 recoil and freehand helps with GLs to be more accurate while saving time on weapon swaps. Even the airborne one is helpful for the Witness boss fight since you're considered to be airborne.

I'd like mods that change the sights slightly. I love sights that highlight targets or come with an ammo counter, I'd like to be able to add that to a weapon. Or be able to do that with weapon crafting. I have way too many Ascendent Materials lying around, I need new things to do at the spooky crafting table.

I use the stability mod on auto rifles, machine guns, and sub machine guns. I've trained myself since call of duty to compulsively reload. So, I only use back up mag on like grenade launchers, snipers, and such. I like the reload speed perk idea though.

i have one gun that backup mag actually makes a difference on and I can proc kinetic tremors 1 extra time every other gun ive tried it doesnt do much, and for focused fury it makes it harder to proc etc

Hip fire grip is very useful on the last encounter of the raid, Using a Linear fusion, you can still precision hit the boss and still see the boss' attack pattern.

I beat the campaign on legendary and all of act one, I've reset Zavala and Shaxx twice and I haven't seen any of those new mods appear anywhere. What content do you have to do to unlock them?

Steady ground may get shot down because unflinching mods exist but bump loader and speed mag will definitely see usage, though bump loader will need to scale with archetype. All GLs and Rockets would load 1 (If they even get bump loader). LFRs, FRs, Snipers and Glaives would get 2, Rocket sidearm 3-4, Trace rifles and LMGs would get like 15 (think 1/5th of the mag). Ammo reload that's archetype dependant means its a viable option to weapons with bigger mags instead of always picking fast mag. Do you only fire your LMG in short bursts to ad clear where a bump mag just tops things off instead of needing to reload the whole thing. OR are you dumping it on bosses which warrants a fast reload to make sure it's always ready (can be synergised with field prep). Rolls like target lock, recon, rewind rounds, killing tally will influence what you pick too. LMGs are the example because most archetypes mag total size means you only need an average of 1-2 loaded back in from bump loader.

I use counterbalance stock if the recoil direction is terrible out of the gate. But if it’s at least 75 I’ll consider backup mag. I don’t think I ever use the other mods now.

We need more mods that give us a boost to our specs. Impact, Range, Stability, Handling, Reload, RPM, etc. Plus, we need weapon mod slots on our exotics.

I got one for kinetics. All the elements. Like solar,void,arc,stasis,and strand rounds. Just turns your kinetic into that element.

These are good, I especially like the Prismatic one. But Fast Mag wouldn't exist since we already have Adept Mag. Not to mention, it's clear that Bungie only wants Adept weapons to have access to stat boosting mods.

Backup Mag and Quick Acces are the only mods really worth anything now.

I like the idea of these mods, i also like the idea of something that gives flat boosts to each parameter. They could also have some synergy with subclass choice. eg another method for class buffs or debuffs, like breaking an enemy shield with a matching element granting a debuff like blind or a limited supression burst in a small area (obviously balanced accordingly to what it does) you could also make said weapon boost the transient gauge when doing specific things like precision damage or kills. These wouldn't boost the weapons damage directly but would give some buildcrafting options.

Better yet for bumpload: call it roadkill. Meat (dead body) isn't worth much but good'n'nuff for roadkill jerky (a bullet)

I absolutely don't know why Bungie hates people using their guns reliably. If I had a fucking space gun, I'd rather it working reliably the same way than having to dump it, modify it and change it every single second. And most of the time, changes simply take AWAY guns from rotations, while introducing 1 single gun that eveyone ends using. Case in point, Sunshot

Honestly if they brought back rampage scec and firefly spec, along with other perks like for subclass verbs it might be a cool wait to enhance lesser perks

I want a stability one to compliment the recoil one. Because sometimes you already have 100rd and just want to reduce the recoil even further. No, it's not because 'skill issue' I can manage just fine, but not having to with a good gun is way better than suffering on purpose.

Counter balance is actually huge. Alot of guns I would take 100 recoil direction over backup mag, easy.

Some really good ideas here actually, especially the prismatic affinity. Hate being restricted to a degree with surges in high end content and feel that would make a huge difference for players arsenal and freedom 💯

Counterbalance is good for playing on a controller and it makes the recoil more predictable on a weapon.

I also use the mod that improves ready and stow speed. Especially on heavy weapons like rockets and machine guns.

Y'know what? Mods should be custom. A modification by definition is a personal touch or change someone makes to an existing thing, so by that definition, we should just sweep all of the mods from the list, and redesign the system to be custom for the player to determine what the benefits from the mod are. The player can choose one stat to increase between +5, or +10 to that stat. The difference being, that if you only take a +5, you can choose an additional effect from a list of different things, which would be like your Icarus Grip, Quick-Access Sling, and the ongoing list of reprised, reworked, or completely new mods. If you take the +10, your tradeoff is not getting a mod effect for the extra stat bonus.

"Quick Access Sling" helps with faster handling for Bait & Switch loadouts & similar Give us an Orb Of Power Mod that only activates on Full Masterwork weapons, like the good ol days Gives us mini-Warmind Mod back lol

Bumploader is 100% a hand cannon/rocket etc type mod. Garbage on something like an auto rifle or god forbid a pulse
