This is my second time uploading this, the last time was uploaded with atrocious timing. I'm hoping now that this will be shown to more people. If you were part of the few that watched this initially - I salute you. Your words were why I decided to re-upload to begin with. Time will tell if I will remove it again, let's hope RU-vid doesn't bury this one.
Perfect explanation of inside, but one correction on outside. You stated that you will always see three double symbols but this is not the case. Outside has one of 3 scenarios; - No 3d shapes are doubles - One 3d shape is a double - Three 3d shapes are doubles Each has a ‘perfect’ way of solving that works 100% of the time, but to summarise; - if none are doubles, dissect the left inside call with a statue that also contains that shape, to end up with a double on the statue, then do a second dissection of that receiving statue with the remaining inside call not yet dissected (if calls are CST, outside is CS ST TC, then dissect C left and T right to leave CC on the right, then dissect C right and S middle) - if 1 is a double, dissect that with both other statues twice (if calls are CST, outside is CS CS TT, do T right and C left and then T right S middle) - if all are doubles, dissect the inside calls in the exact order they are told twice over (has to be in order) and it will resolve correctly (if calls are CST, outside is CC SS TT, dissect C left and S middle, then T right and C left, then S middle and T right) Can explain in more detail if needed, I have a full guide written.
Titans watching Drown In The Drip and realizing they either have to become the walking amalgamation of a junkyard and a tub of lard or become nigh-Hunter levels of Slim™.
@@atomic_wait Well either that, Lightkin (splicer), the KF knight head, the gigadome from Trials, or the airplane helmet from Forsaken that has lived in my head rent-free and untaxed for years. Alternative sidequest: get you and 4 buds to all wear the cat helmet from Xur and just *watch* as the random tries to tell you all apart.
Easily the most straightforward explanation of the encounter I've seen, the diagrams are an exceptional visual aid. Also dividing the encounter into clear distinct segments helps significantly. PS: Love your content and editing style.
Great guide! I have an easier way of doing the ghost mechanic. When “The Witness notices your efforts” appears in the chat, the players inside the rooms should run to their statues and stand next to them. This makes is so the outside players know who’s ghost they are picking up. For example, if a player inside the room is a warlock with cenotaph on and they die next to their own statue, the outside players don’t need to look at what the ghost shell is, they can just say “I have the cenotaph warlock” and the dead players can call out where it is if they see a cenotaph warlock.
@@Bestow3000 What changes exactly that would prevent this from working in the first wipe? You stand next to your statue, which is matched inside and outside, so your ghost is next to your guardian. Before anything else, I have literally done this and cleared the encounter lol
Something I've realized for the outside team to not even have to think about the shapes. You're almost replicating the 1st step of the solo team. If the call is TSC, triangles go on the left statue, until it can't take any more, squares on the middle and curcles on the right. The only catch here is to not repeat shapes
once you understand what to do the outside is actually easier than inside: triangle goes to triangle, square to square, circle to circle 😂 you need two sets of knights (4 or 6 shapes), and except you got three double shapes on start you certainly would be done before the inside team died
Wait so if it’s TCS, kill the knight and if the knight drops a triangle put the triangle into the left statue? Then kill another knight pick up the square and put it in the middle statue etc etc? Is that really how it works? lol I might’ve been overthinking it this entire time
This is by far the best guide Ive seen with intentional footage shown alongside the steps properly AND A PERFECT VISUAL INFOGRAPHIC AAA So many guides Ive seen just have dry talking with random clips in the background. Thank nomad!
No seems, it definitely is a nightmare. I’ve had 17 LFG teams disband due to the monotonous mechanics in this raid. The combat is awesome, the mechanics just suck.
Only step by step guide that explains the mechanics AND how to do them. To many guides on this fight are just skipping to the how you do it without explaining the core mechanics.
Smh.. atp I think everybody knows the encounter when everything’s working perfectly.. but y is nobody discussing the bugs or the scenarios when things arnt going perfect.. like y can some teammates make a key.. when the other teammates don’t even have ogres to kill so knights can spawn..
5:45 is, to be a litte blunt, just plain inaccurate. The encounter is not guaranteed to start with only 3D shapes made of identical 2D shapes. (i.e. the cube/sphere/pyramid). It is possible for a statue to begin with prism, cylinder or cone as well. The method works the same, dissecting shapes from statues that contain the same shape as the 2D shapes on the inside statues, but saying that the encounter starts with cube, sphere and pyramid is just factually wrong.
Why does everyone cut and paste their runs whilst explaining. For the first outside change you cut your video and pick up 3 shapes, whilst exposing just the two you swap??? This makes it soooooo difficult to understand
I have an issue with this encounter, and I'm unsure if it's due to a bug, or something else. My team has made the correct shapes on the outside of the wall, we have Cylinder, prism and cone, on the inside we had the corresponding keys, I had Cylinder, middle had prism and right had cone. yet the wall wouldn't break and we couldn't continue. Is there something we're missing ?
FINALLY a video not requiring a calculator! As a console player it takes way too much time for me to plug in. This made SO much sense, I can't wait to impress my clan with my dissection. thank you nomad!
Thank you for the explanation. I now realize that Bungie has created a troll raid to counteract Root of Nightmares being too easy. I will not be participating. I’m a rank 11 btw
Crazy way of saying you don’t care enough to learn what is essentially a moderately challenging visualization puzzle If you don’t want to do it, you don’t want to do it. That’s fine. That doesn’t mean it’s a troll raid.
Last night my team would say that when they went to the inside they couldn't get their knights to spawn specifically when they were like trying to make a key. Is anyone have any ideas on why this would be happening or how to spawn the nights more reliably?
When all 5 guardians are dead, we've found it more effective to have the one guardian alive NOT grab any ghost, but to grab what people are calling out - this way they're not grabbing a random ghost hoping the person who can see it is paying attention
Nice guide, Nomad! You did really well with the visual guides. I would have liked to see some mention of how to course correct if an inside guardian accidentally picks up the wrong shape. For the unaware, if you accidentally pick up the wrong shape when on the inside, you can pick up a second shape and deposit it on any statue. The 3D shape will cancel out and reset your shape pool. You’ll have to kill another ogre, but it’s better than causing a wipe. I’ll be sharing this with my fireteams. Good work, Nomad and team!
Been watching guides of this since it came out and by far the easiest to understand this one NOMAD. I knew inside but not outside. I just prayed it took me in because outside I was useless and just cleared ads. 😂
This is much much better than whatevee the FUCK so-called "top-tier" D2 content creator Datto puts out. I swear the guy is more about his quips and jibes and nitpicks than actually helping others.
Me at the end "WHEW....I mean no boss, but that was a lot of work, teamwork, complications and... "And now all you have to do is that two more full times.. Me: WHAT!
Not that its super imortant, but the outside shapes dont always contain the same shapes ie triangle/triangle, circle/curcle, square/square. This is actually the "worst" setup you can get. In most cases you only have to swap 2 shape. So 4 shape grabs and 4 statue interactions. The reason i point this out is because if you have the "triple/double" as i call it, you know you will have to do 3 swaps minimum, regardless. You just have to determine what goes where. To simplify it "for myself", and maybe this will help others, is start from left to right. Once you get the inside callout determine if that 3d shape has the inside shape for the left callout. If it does, kill the knight that drops that shape and pick it up and interact with the left statue. Look at the middle 3d shape, does it have a wrong shape? If it does, kill the knight that drops that shape and pick it up, then interact with the middle statue. Repeat the process with the right statue. Inly with the 2nd "pickup, make sure you dont swap the matching shape to the left or right statue. The order you do this is doenst matter much, i just do it this way for consistency. Getting back to the triple/double callout though, it is rally simple although it requires the most swaps. You always know youll be doing 3 swaps with the triple double. You can go from left to right in this case always. You just need to determine the third swap and make sure you arent putting the matching shape on the last swap. Sorry if this was confusing, but im just trying to 3xpress how my brain thinks about it.
"It's actually easy" Tell that to the endless supply of LFG bozos who cant focus for more than 2 minutes at a time. This encounter is the worst thing destiny 2 has ever produced.
4:15 i wish you guys would teach the simple lets communicate method. Each guardian will start with either 1 or 2 symbols that dont belong in the room. If its 1 only, then each person needs to call out which symbol they need. The people with that symbol can then dunk it in your statue and pick up the symbol they do need on the first knights. Then ogres. Then knights to break free. I think your method requires 3 sets of knights.
Being tiled instantly by a square an a circle making a 3D cylinder might be the most petty thing iv ever been tilted by. Watched several guides on this to try convince myself i could get through an LGF raid but this one encounter i think would be the *people mute there mics pretend to be AFK then leave* stage.
One of if not the dumbest raid encounters ever. Feels more like work than playing a game for fun. Ahhhh, wait, bungie games aren’t fun anymore, that’s right
You can force three of the members into the area by sending them ahead, can't you? Like each time I ran, I interacted with the "Free Guardian" or I stood in front of a statue at the front (next to the projector) and I got taken inside.
Finally did this raid the other night and this room was what took us the longest. We got there with 4 learning and 2 sherpas and by the time we finished we had 2 that have never been through the raid and 4 that have which helped a lot with that room. Most of the other areas we did within about 5 tries except this. I am still trying to get the shape thing down. I have the putting ghosts in the right place as long as others will work with my way. Us older folks tend to not remember every person and every ghost that they go with,so I would pick up the ghost say which one I had and ask what character and what made them stick out so the position could get called out.
I hope you genuinely know you are one of the best D2 creators out there. Genuinely informative, structured, and well thought out videos are rare, but thats all you make 😅
so is the matching of the shape you hold in the "inside" room step necessary? You can do it without that step very easy and get to the right shapes but everytime we did it it would not let out of the "inside" rooms.
This is legit Plato's Cave allegory turned into gameplay and then inflicted on the Destiny player base in some sort of mad social science/philosophy experiment. Mad props to whoever came up with this idea, and even madder props to all the people who devised the actual mechanics.
Has anyone tried making doubles inside AND outside as a means of escape. If the goal is to just make a key that does not include the initial shape presented on each Guardian's statue, wouldn't doubles of the other shapes work?
Good thing I kept the Festival of the Lost mask around. As long as I am not the leader, I can make my Hunter look like Pyramid Head for the who has what Ghost mechanic.
I dont understand the isnide stuff, first you said "goal is to get the projection shapes (the wall ones) different to the ones your guardian statue is holding" but later your statue and the projection shapes are all circle and you said this is good?
He is explaining the strat, for the strat you want to make sure all your symbols are the same , then once that’s finished you kill knights and grab the keys and put them in your teammates
It is easy. But in the heat of the encounter, I mess up with everything. I know this is just week 2, but I had some bad experiences last week trying this encounter. Like the video said, there's no place for ad clear, you CAN'T be carried. Because even if you got luck on fist run - and could just ad clear -, you'll probably be called to do the mechanic on the next rounds.
Nomad, you are a godsend. Third time really is the charm. I went to Datto for the overall gist but but it was still rather complex. I turned to Fallout who made the raid make sense but Verity was still complex (at least outside job). So I now turn to you and outside job seems so much simpler now. It's not that I don't understand but performing under stress. Because the internal dialogue looks like: "Ok, order is CTS. If 1 is C, then they need T and S." "Ok T and S make prism" "C currently has a a sphere" "A sphere is C+C" *Run off breaking down the remaining shapes to see who has what* "Oh 3 has a T, I can take that" *Kill knights to do dissection* And that's just ONE swap. My brain does that for it all. So hearing you say "Once one is done then the other two should have 1 symbol they do need and one symbol they don't" Slices the thinking power in half because of how streamlined the thought becomes. That whole list I wrote above just becomes 1 line (at least for *after* the first statue is done)
Halloween masks are perfect for this encounter. With Fireteam power scaling, the 0 power means nothing (unless you're the leader). No one has trouble recognizing the pyramid or traveler heads 🤖
I’d prefer some shit like this. I was in the outside room and it was like people were fighting for shapes after killing knights, like wtf am I supposed to be doing?? Lol
Another thing my team determined is everyone need to not have symbols flashing on their wall as well. For example if my statue is cylindrical and I get the cyclindric object crafted to escape my room, I still can’t escape if there is a shape flashing on my wall (this just means that someone miscommunicated or dumped on the wrong statue but you can have 3 shadows flashing and it caused my team a lot of grief on our first night doing this)
Been watching a few of your videos over the last week or 2, but this one is the one that singlehandedly made me subscribe. After this video, Verify is a joke.
this guide was excellent. I kid you not! ive seen like 4 different guides and didnt understand shi... but this makes it crystal clear. heck it aint that hard for people to be explaining it insuch a convoluted manner
Thanks for this video. I have doen this encounter 3 times and had only an idea of what was going on. You made it very easy to follow your directions and explained it very well. Thank you 🙏
If one person really understands the 3d shape and you guys aren't worried about dying too much u can have that person off themselves and revive them after the teleport like in vog and you can do that for each teleport
Fantastic guide here Ascendant! I'm a sherpa in my clan and after watching a few other guides and diagrams, it was still very hard to follow. I love the segmenting of the roles you did in this guide! Also, what made me really understand the shape moving mechanics was when you said: The shape solutions on the inside, match the outside. The solution image you made is what I am going to base my teaching off of and I think this really is a simple way to tell everyone what the goal is in this encounter. Thanks a bunch!
Every video always forgets one small detail. After they are revived they have to kill their night and pick up the correct shapes to form the key to get out
Looks like ill just learn the witness fight and just do that each week because theres no way im learning this mess. Kudos to anyone who finished this during contest.
This is exactly how I try to explain dissection to new players so they can dissect better than people who think they know what they're doing lol I've met a few people who tried to gaslight me into thinking I'm somehow wrong but I can finish dissection very fast and it's a braindead method that anyone can learn how to do without any tools or spreadsheets or cheat sheets, etc.
This is a cube. Can you guess which statue that goes in? That’s right it goes in the cube statue. And how about this sphere? That one, that goes in there too. Up next, a cone. Can you guess where that goes? That’s right it goes in the cube statue.
One thing I will add is that once you are revived from the five death part, you can still see the glowing statue, so you can grab that persons ghost and deposit it without needing a callout.
