Cool! Another weapon that I'll never get because I don't have anyone to play with. I feel like lately Destiny has been hitting the team aspect harder than normal. Before it was mostly Raids (which I've never done) but now it's many pieces of gear/weapons too. This sucks. I love Destiny but I don't know how much longer I'll keep playing if half the content is locked away from me. Team stuff is cool but quests like this aren't the kind of things you can auto-matchmake to get. Sucks.

Not exotic because of its power? You swap to another gun and get 35% damage. That's NUTS.

Doesn't look game breaking or overpowered but definitely looks like a weapon that would be fun to mess with in a stacked fireteam like when you all equip sweet business, hard light or malfeasance

Fun fact: In EP, rounds 1-6 give 1 point, and the boss round gives 2 points Lumina also procs Benevolent Dawn for middle tree Dawnblades

For the handcannon kills in Crucible, Rose gives you more progress. It gives four percent instead of one.

The rose itself is really good

A good place to get orbs of light is the opening encounter of the leviathan. Endless waves of Cabal spawn, and I was using masterwork weapons, and chained my supers relatively quickly.

Why do so many exotic quests require pvp? It pisses me off to no end

Thanks for the guide! Got D2 while it was free and bought Forsaken for it so now I have access to both quests. I was originally gonna do just the quest for Thorn because someone told me this one was a pain in the ass but now that I’m seeing what you actually have to do, it seems MUCH easier than the Thorn actually. I already got the first part done by running a Masterwork Graviton Lance on Escalation Protocol, the multikills from the purple blobs that explode still count as multikills, so doing just the first segment will generate like 40-50 orbs due to all the chain explosions on the thralls that just killing one can cause. Again, thanks for the guide and I will def be getting Lumina soon. Thorn is also almost done for me and doing the stuff for Thorn was fun. I’m doing it during the Iron Banner to add a little spice and challenge to it and so far it’s been the most fun I’ve had in D2.

Finally after four whole weeks i finally got lumina after grinding as a solo player only on weekends

I personally love it. I love games where i can be a healer and I love hand cannons (don’t we all) but this weapon really makes me feel like I am ten times more useful. On console this weapon feels great. The damage is very good.and rewards a kill by allowing you to heal and buff teammates and yourself

Mr. Healthy Challenge: 《Strikes and Nightfall only》 Two people must use Lumina and other healing abilities/ults and cannot attack bosses. The person not using Lumina is the only one who can kill mini-bosses and bosses. If the person not using Lumina is killed, everyone must go back to orbit. Everyone can kill regular enemies.

a little bit of advice for those stuck on deny invaders step. firstly dont worry about invaders until you hear drifter say 'your portal is ready' after he says this pay attention to the 'blocker incoming' and 'enemy portal is ready/active' text usually thats a pretty good indication your about to be invaded as most teams with common sense will bank motes before invading. next your best option is to run counter invader you really dont have any other option if your going to solo gambit. lastly like drifter says 'find them before they find you' and drop them quick personally i used secondary bow subtle calamity to do this if your lucky youll catch them before they kill you or someone on your team. one more thing before i go dont die trying to kill the enemy revenge from the grave tactics dont count quite literally it is also worth noting that usually invaders have their ultis up so be wary of that fact.

Just to let everyone know. No matter what Blind well is the fastest solo or with a team

I just want to say, the endless thrall part in The Whisper really is one of the greatest things for quests. Sat there with a masterworked Crimson. Generated the orbs, got the multikills without reloading, and did two Werner bounties in a matter of minutes.

I can definitely see this become a go to PvE exotic paired with Phoenix Protocal and Well of Radiance. Heals and buffs for days.

When u pull Rose out of the collections it gets a range mstrwrk. The gun is very strong in PvP

I did this quest super late because I was a returning player and I picked up both thorn and lumina quest so I basically had two exotic quests that I thought were the same thing

Fireteam leader step is a nightmare for solo players

As someone who initially played Warlock because he was thinking Sunsinger would be like Paragon or Ritualist in Guild Wars (a healer / support job), then went Titan because of the Paladin-like gloriousness of Destiny 1 Ward of Dawn. Then as someone who was disillusioned by Destiny 2's total step backwards in Year 1: This gun alone and the new Sunsinger Well and the new jobs for Titan have made me want to play again...this FEELS like the game I wanted and was promised 6 years ago.

I wished I would not had to do an arbitrary pvp thing for a pve gun in gambit. Feels like an unnecessary roadblock for pve players who will be stuck on that step like me unless you cheese it in which case I simply dont want to do or play the game for. Very saddened for the time waste I had today.

Why do they always have to include pvp? Everyone doesn't like that (I'm one of them) and it's hard to kill an invader before they kill any of my teammates cause they always camp in high ground with hammerhead and 3 shots everyone at long distances some even uses xenophage

As someone who mained support in OW. this is something I was hoping for. I always wanted a way to play like how I did with Zennyatta and this weapon gives me more of that feel. Especially with warlocks. My go to for group play.

For the 50 orbs in the 2nd last quest you can go to reckoning and generate orbs for days. Hope it helps :)

Fun glitch note, if you have the rose equipped and an exotic equipped for me it was the prospector and complete the last step it will pull the rose out, give you the lumina and keep your primary weapon slot empty if you wanted to do so, it's not game breaking but it is funny

i killed the invader before any of my teammates were killed still didn't count. Does anyone know why? Also it was 5 secs after the invader invaded

Got it around 3 hours ago. I don't know about others who got it already like me but I think the end product is pretty promising for the grind

Riskrunner for multi kills without reloading is the quickest and easiest step you can do in this quest. Escalation protocol wasn't bad but you had to have nearly a full lobby to make it go faster than blind well. Should probably point out that the not on my watch medal has a time limit of ten seconds so gotta be quick in getting that invader kill.

Anyone else already have the weapon but just wanted to hear Datto's voice?

Mine was in Alton dynamo on Mars. It's literally in the secret room near the top where you have to shoot the vent to jump up in that has a sleeper node in it.

Its not a hard quest, but the weapon is a little underwhelming. For me its mostly because it can't generate orbs of light. If it could do that its perfect in PvE. In PvP its overshadowed by other 150 hc 's.

also if u go to the green room in whisper heroic u can clear thrall there with huckleberry(if u have the catalyst, doesnt have to be fully upgraded) and thats how I did it. It took maybe like 10 minutes, so its a good option if ur alone

When its 2020 and your trying to get lumina but you have to do the rose part by yourself because nobody is trying to get this shit gun

I remember getting this day one I haven't done a day one exotic since.(not counting devils ruin because that was no quest)

I love this weapon because it reminds me of d1. In d1, exotics were guns that could do crazy shit other guns couldn't do. In d2, exotics are mainly focused on being powerful weapons that are must haves. I like lumina because it's just that, it's a gun thats not powerful, but it's wacky and cool and can be used effectively.

Unfortunately the damage buff (35% in pve) does not stack with well, empowering rift or melee. So the only situation where I might consider using this (raid) is pretty much out of the question. Maybe phase one gahlran where you can buff your team mate and adds will die a bit quicker? It does trigger benevolent dawn for middle dawnblade locks when you heal with it but it seems like a gimmick and not at all that useful in pretty much any situation

I'm sick of exotics that require PVP to farm for.

For the orbs, it's far easier to just go into a Whisper mission with a team IMO. my team found that progress was shared across the team members, although chucking on a MWed Huckleberry will get it done in not much longer solo.

Think I'm gonna sit this one out. Seems like something that'll get immediately vaulted.

In a game where taking your attention off the enemies for a millisecond, and one in which stomps and melees are routinely fatal, this weapon doesn’t seem very practical. The community is already complaining about Titans being unable to run a weapons shield without taking away from the total DPS of the team; that makes it all the more odd to me that we’re now seeing a primary exotic for healing which needs charging. Love the idea of mixing things up, but I’m struggling to think of where this will see feasible usage in-game. The perfect example of this one’s struggle is where it should be coolest-shooting yourself in the foot with a chared round begins health regen, but health is usually ready to regen on its own by the time you line up a foot shot. Now, if they intend to introduce new activity modifiers (say one which only allows health regen from teammate sources), I could see this being interesting. I’d much have preferred a primary trace rifle which only healed teammates (no damage output), but didn’t require charging, and healed your own character upon reload/ricochet.

Datto makes this new weapon feel useless or not needed. Lol

It seems fitting I use this weapon for the Campaign of ShadowKeep once it comes out.
