Destiny 2 - Lore and Story Part 1 (Prelude to Destiny 2 & The Red Legion's Invasion) 

Anybody else want a Guardian-Fallen alliance in D2?

So... we're basically the same as the Fallen now? Children of the Traveler, lost their home, abandoned, forced to scavenge, divided

I want our first mission to be our year one character's last. We start off in the Tower during the start of the invasion, only the weapons we have on us to fight with. We first have to rush to our vaults, only to have them destroyed at the last second. Our ships are gunned down as we try to summon them to escape. Something smothers the Traveller and our light just disappears. Our Ghost, our faithful and somewhat witty companion starts to die. Waves upon waves of Red Legion cabal keep coming, we have to work our way down The Tower whilst constantly firing at cabal. Every cabal we kill, five more replace it. Our actions are futile, though we still do our best. All around us are the broken bodies of the people that once roamed the tower, the faction reps are united trying to hold out, we watch as they are gunned down. Unable to help. We get surrounded in the collapsing Tower, little to no ammo left. Suddenly we feel a searing pain through our back and we drop to the floor, dead. Only to wake up and see our ghost, glowing a bright light. "E-e-eyes up, G-guardian-" He says, before finally dying. Completely drained of light. We get up and fight. Shoot at anything until we finally run out of ammo, are attempts do nothing. Unlimited waves of cabal come at us until we finally are killed, and the tower crashes down on top of us. The Age of Triumph brought to an end. Boom. Character creation screen.

So I got bored and was reading through grimoire. So get this in one of the grimoire cards for the cabal known as ghost fragment Cabal 4 it could explain where our ghost went. While reading it it says that the cabal are looking for a way to kill our ghost. What if they succeeded? Maybe that's where our ghost went and why so many guardians lost their lives and we don't see any ghost! Byf man check it out!

I'll be super bummed if the Fallen are not in Destiny 2 they were my favorite enemy from the first game. They had the best lore and were the coolest.

Anyone else noticed how incredibly smart bungie has been with setting up a legitimate antagonist for d2. They've been setting it up since the taken king, placing cabal invasion in the background looming over us and now they're going to strike and we won't be ready despite all the warnings we have been given.

I think Gall (or however you spell it) may actually be the cabal emperor. The cabal are a highly militarized race so it makes sense that the emperor would command a legion. It would also explain why he has the red gaurd. the red hairs may well be the emperor's eleite guard, the best the empire has to offer trained to both protect their emperor and carry out his will. We also know that we have already defeated cabal military leaders and they couldn't her the job done so now perhaps the emperor himself has come to make sure the job gets done right. sort of like "of you want a job done right you have to do it yourself" sort of thing. just a thought.

thank you byf for sharing the better parts of Destiny's story that isnt well told in the casual game play. i really hope you continue lore videos through Destiny 2

i kinda want in d1 a mission to appear on september first where we play throught the last moments of the city and it just ends with your character seeing cabal ships and bombs/weapons fireing at the city, (note the mission would be like a talking mission refering too your victories and achievments with the speaker and the vanguard)

Byf you are one of the few people who recognize and know what and who the FOTC are I salute for that they are not just a weapon foundry they are an army which I would like to see try and protect thr city with the war frames

Byf. I've said it to you before. Read fragment Cabal 4. It details that even before Oryx the Cabal knew the greatest threat in our system was indeed us. Exerpt: This is an archetypical engagement. It represents many hundreds of failed operations. Guardian activity in the Freehold AO has exploded across recent campaign seasons. Tactical attrition exceeds both frictional projections and our ability to regenerate losses. New tactics are necessary. The primary threat is the Guardians’ individual counter-attrition capability. Guardians can be rebuilt after even total disintegrative trauma. This capability is provided by a small autonomous drone unit called a Dead Person [trans. unclear]. My opinion is the Cabal don't see us as a local pest to crush or ignore, they don't see us as a threat to the legion but I feel the following statement to be most true: The Cabal view us [Guardians] in the same disdain that we view the Darkness itself. An evil that must be purged. Those are my thoughts on this at least.

the exo female guardian thats from the future btw is fighting the cabal.... thats y during the mission she got message and quickly pulled out her gun and teleported (again... one of the new subclasses we may attain and learn from the wilderness) that is why she said after the celebration that it is only the beginning

I'd love to fight a worm god in Destiny 2. Hive lore is my favourite, being part of that lore by killing yet another one of their gods would be great!

Destiny 2, before all else I feel, NEEDS a library or some kind of item we can use and go to in order to read the grimoire we collect. The lore of the game world has improved leaps and bounds since our journey began, it's only right that we be allowed to view such things in-game now, especially with the constraints of the old gen consoles now lifted.

played "bond brothers" 2day & noticed for 1st time a hologram of the cabal ship in the trailer, the one gettin shot at, largest carrier ship.. makes me wonder if bungie knew all the way back at the release of TTK that Destiny 2 would start with cabal mania..

Imagine this : your guardian is talking to the cryptarch and is decrypting his/her engrams when all of a sudden *BOOM* everything is a fiery red and the vaults and everyhting around you is collapsing and epic rock music is playing in the backround, then you hear a huge screech and you realise that the tower is starting to fall over.You wake up underneath rubble and you crouch your way around the now fallen over tower and try to not get seen by the cabal, when you finally run out your in the city.

THE REAL QUESTION IS HOW CAYDE EATS SPICY RAMEN.

People say that Destiny doesn't have a story, they're correct but it has a ton of lore behind it. Imagine if even just the contents of this video alone were outlined within the game? That's one of my biggest hopes for Destiny 2.

We can only wait and see what this means for the future of destiny. Have the fallen abandoned their individual banners to join under a single lord? have they simply abandoned every holding and fled? Will they be our allies, our enemies, or will they simply not be there? We can only hope it is not the last option. They are the closest to humanity in nature and story...

I think that Rasputin is gonna be shut down by the Psions of the Red Legion which is possible as the Psions of the Scouting parties sent to the Sol System were able to pull a moon out of its. And Red Legion will most probably have way more powerful Psions whose power is comparable to that of a Warmind. And we won't be able to wake him the Base game so we try to wake Charlemagne instead to help us. It is only in DLC 2 that we try to wake Rasputin.

I like how there were no expansions focusing on the Cabal. Well first of all the raid on the Vex (which I mean wasn't an expansion but still), then the Hive, the Fallen, the Taken, and then the Fallen again. It really makes Destiny 2 more meaningful because if the Cabal had been weakened as much as the other species in Destiny 1 it would not make sense for them to destroy the guardians.

When will we get an actual new enemy race? They can't go all of Destiny 2 without introducing something new. The expansions don't hint at anything too drastic, granted all we have are the 2 Osiris and Warmind symbols, but I'd hope they'd at least start the introduction with the first expansion and then make it the primary focus of the second. The same goes for an actual new planet, not just new areas on the old planets/a ship

This is what I am talking about... This is what I wanted from the Cabal, absolute destruction. The Cabal are stated to be the most powerful and fearsome militaristic force in our cluster... Show me... I've said. because for the most part they always felt like chumps... This shows how formidable they are... I love it.

Technically the city should have known about the Red leigon. When they arrived in Sol the reef or mars outposts must have encountered them This is further explained due to Zavala knowing Ghauls name. Possibly Eris?
