I have over 2000 hours in Warframe and only paid $40 and I play it regularly. I have 300 hours in destiny 2 and spent $90 and there is nothing to do unless I spend more money. And that $90 was with discounted dlc. Everyone who didn't wait to buy got ripped off.

I think you're spot on when you say they aimed for safe content because they're so busy otherwise. This has been an xpac of fixes. Bnet to steam, xsave, armor 2.0, continued transition back to the more somber tone of D1, F2P, better bounty system, changes to bright dust, major exotic/ability rebalancing, shift to a different content model (seasonal progress vs major plot dumps) ... Not a single one of these things can be done without major thought being put into them and I can honestly say I see them laying a really solid foundation for what sometimes feels like a new game here. Shadowkeep campaign was alright, not great, not bad, but it comes with the first season and we're already seeing the first signs of change (the scarlet keep is turning the surrounding hive structures scarlet too). I think the vibe everyone has with this drop is "Yeah ok the direct content so far hasn't been mindblowing but fuck, bungie has been BUSY."

Funny enough, I loved the campaign. The hype was there for me and I felt like they built up what’s to come next pretty nicely. Plus, unlike Forsaken, I feel like we were actually going somewhere with this. New enemy! Buildup to a final showdown! That kinda stuff. And I agree wholeheartedly. Even if the content is disappointing (which rn it isn’t), Bungie has made a FUCKTON of changes to get this ship steered in the right direction. Hats off to them

I have to be honest, Cayde’s death was only a big moment when they showed it in their reveal trailer. When I played Forsaken it didn’t hit me that hard because I knew what was going to happen. If Bungie had not given it away the shock value would of shook the entire community.

Well the whole point of that was to trick players into thinking the entire story/expansion would be about Cayde's death and avenging him, when in reality it was just a piece of the puzzle and took us into the Dreaming City, which was so packed full of incredible content that it was really a genius bait.

@@praisethepuck they did. Try using MKC in a different smg while hitting crits and just see the difference. Recluse is consistent and only requires one target, but if you can aim with multiple targets, MKC completely outdoes MoA. Pros and cons versus all pros and no cons.

Other than that and the overall length of the campaign I did enjoy it. I was expecting just a standard Hive expansion and was pleasantly surprised with the twist. Bungie have said this is only the setup to the next year of content and obviously the best big DLC which I’m looking forward to. It’s not amazing like Forsaken or Taken King but it’s not terrible

I felt the same, I actually really enjoyed the story but i understand why people didn't. The cutscene did seem like it was almost cut off. All it needed was another 30 seconds or so where you know who pushes you off the cliff and you wake up with Eris trying to revive you

I actually liked the whole fighting the 3 old bosses. They had the nightmare mechanics so they weren't carbon copies and it made sense from a story perspective. Maybe they could have had a new boss but I didn't feel like it needed it. The transition from the final mission to the end did need something though.

Shadowkeep should feel like an ok expansion for most veterans, and an overhaul of content for new players; I can't even imagine how a new player would be able to get even close to the amount of good loot I have, like exotics (world drops and from quests), pinnacle weapons from the pinnacle weapon quests, God-roll weapons, and gear with enhanced perks.

i think your saying theres so much stuff todo that it can be confusing for new players?? but idk about the rest of your statement as a new light character they give you every pinnacle/exotic/legendary as a quest, most being easier to get when they first dropped removing hidden locations or amount of kills needed ect ect, its now easier then ever to get all the best gear, its just theres hours worth of grinding to get it all.

@Steyr Acrx yeah i guess you do have a point, but pretty much every aspect of this DLC has been new slate start again with all the new changes we have made, yeah that always sucks, but you need those resets in a live service game to keep things fresh, especially since they launched free to play, there will be a large majority of players who are playing F2P and they want something to entice them that keeps them engaged and catches them up at the same time, i think its fair to say if you grinded hard you had the advantage for a whole year in some aspects and at the start of a new game year they bring everyone up to scratch. i enjoy playing new content with new people who all have a fair chance, i think its good, just my opinion

@@atlas_twb4215 Personal disagree. I do think that there was a lot of great moments from D1 that I fondly look back at, but I think D2 is better is several ways. Your weapon loadout allows far more options, you can build your armor to be better tuned to what loadout you want to use, a clamber mechanic makes platforming less frustrating. I'm not saying that D2 isn't worse in some ways, but I think that overall it's better.

But sure you can customize a bit more and grind for those perfect rolls to be op but it’s all re skins nothing’s new really just more of the same. D2 hasn’t really gave me that same feeling like the first few times I ran vault of glass and crota’s raid. Maybe I’m just jaded from all the years grinding

I love Destiny 2 and while they have never had the strongest story telling the gameplay has always been solid, new changes, refresh into the community by being free to play. The story while short is foreshadowing with the knowledge that there is more to come. The moon might be reused but I welcome it, I want all of the old locations to return so long as I have new things to shoot and new ways to play. I Honestly think from this point moving forward just like with Destiny one this...this is the step forward which Bungie needed.

@@mildsthatyac2097 You might need to re-install the game after a clean uninstall. Most of my "bugs" are chalked up to loading into areas and it freezes you mid-air. Honestly funny and fixes itself when the last fire team member catches up. Delayed damage and ghost bullets...hmmm never experienced that in the 10 years I've played the game. Closest I've come to ghost bullets is in the Crucible...but with everyone having different latency and mine locked in at 22ms I only see it maybe two three times/ I'm sorry your experience with the game is that but for myself I stand by the things I've noted the gun play has always been great each weapon feels different from its archetypes and the perks have me farming up better versions each running in ways that make the weapon play differently even if someone has the same weapon. Outlaw and Firefly are great but so is Quick Draw and Snapshot Sights :)

I only did the first 3 encounters. My opinion can and definitely will change as I do the raid more, get loot and in general become more familiar with the raid. My early impression is that the raid is pretty cool so far, although I think that the second encounter is a bit of a snooze. But I think that the top Destiny raids are probably going to be tough to beat, with stuff like Last Wish and King's Fall.

That being said, I also reckon shadowkeep was made with the new light players in mind. The ones that didn't play D1 or whatever, because for those guys, shadowkeep is probably awesome. They've come in when destiny 2 is at its strongest from a core mechanics point of view and they'll not have the same experiences so for them, it won't be rehashed content. For those folk, it's probably great value. I do disagree with Ralph's statement about it being objectively "worth" it though, value for money in games is almost always subjective, so it's pretty much up to the individual.

I am SO glad you mentioned the new light experience. I was just dropped in the tower and had no idea what to do. It directs you to an NPC that has a quest, but it appears to be a group type quest, who wants to be put in a group to accomplish something when you have been playing the game for 5 minutes. At least for the first part of the game, they need to give new players a bit more direction.

The story's great but they've dug really deep into the live service aspect and all we can review is: -The moon as a new map and the content on it -The cinematic quests (as given from week one, we don't know if we'll get more as the weeks unlock more content?) -The gameplay loop changes as compared to Forsaken+Annual Pass content Main quest is short when compared to Forsaken's main cinematic quest... though it is quite a bit longer than something like Warmind or Osiris (both can be completed in as little as 2 or 3 hours if you're really chuggin' along) and Shadowkeep just has more stuff to go out and do on the moon. Also.... if one were to review Shadowkeep would you also have to review Season of the Undying? since both are packaged together and connect together? Honestly I don't envy you boys, how the fuck does one even properly review a live service game? Come back to it periodically to check up on it and give an addendum every couple weeks until you know all the content of the dlc is available to play?

Great video boys. Everything you mentioned is exactly the way I feel about it. Do I think the update is a "must buy"? No. But I'm also coming from D1 so while I didn't feel like I experienced anything truly new, I would absolutely recommend it to brand new Destiny players. If anything, even if it were to suck, with Bungie now being independent I'm more than ok spending the $35 US for the content.

I agree with you guys: Destiny 2: Shadowkeep - "Season of the Undying" is basically "Season of the Recycle Contents". It was really clear since the first trailers, though. The Moon again, same reskinned enemies (this is the fourth time the Hive gets recycled/reskinned), recycled Bosses, recycled Armors and Weapons skins, pretty disappoiting Raid too imho. Yeah, it's not that great. However, even if the story-campaign was really short (I think... 5 missions in total?), it is also true that it makes a really big step forward in the Destiny narrative arc since the beginning. If you think to the Main Story Campaign of Destiny vanilla and the Red War, those were longer, but they really brought the player nowhere. Here in Shadowkeep, instead, with just 5 Story Missions, we really got a lot. Also, I believe that Bungie wants to continue this story during all this Year 3, so probably what we have experienced until now, it's just the beginnig, but I may be wrong, this is just a hypothesys. I have yet to play Shadowkeep. Currently re-playing Legacy Quests with a friend who is new to Destiny, but I loved the Moon in Destiny 1 and I have no problem with them reusing the map as long as there is new quests and story in that place. The Moon and the Dreadnaught were probably my favourite places in the original Destiny.

35 for the base edition that includes this season pass and 50 for the deluxe edition which includes 4 season pass , so a whole year of additional content. My issue apart from how much was re-used is just how much they more they are leaning into the micros, i don't and didn't expect them to go away , but to seem them push them even more is a little disappointing especially with how much content was re-used for shadowkeep.

I think that the biggest issues with new players is that people come to the game expecting to go through a campaign, which makes the way that New Light drops people in all the more confusing (If anybody's curious, you have to go to Amanda Holiday in the Hangar to go through the campaigns).

This video sums it up pretty well. It starts with re-used content, then there's some "pretty good, but also meh" and it ends with a Warframe theme song because in the end Warframe offers more content, had always been free, and Destiny's expansions that cost 50$ are the same as Wardrame's biggest updates that were always free. Obviously which game is "better" is entirely subjective but their release cycle and payment model seems to show that Warframe is way better in this regard.

Main question for me are skills / builds. How is it? For me the main problem why I didn't get to endgame was... are so boring skills. I felt that I was doing 3 buttons rotation. I felt there are no build variations etc. Guns ware good, but skills ware boring after few hours.

I've played Destiny since D1 Rise of Iron, and I've learned 1 thing about destiny. Destiny has great stories, but the story telling is mediocre at best. The story has a lot of subtleties, and lots of points that are easy to miss.

I swear I Dw the whole 79 gb and started to play it but I got bored during the first opening mission, still finished it and then got overwhelmed by just being thrown in the public area and all the maps and go talk to Ikora and trying to do a mission but find I am unable to solo. After playing Warframe for a year or so I feel like a molasses filled bag trying to move around and maneuver in Destiny's opening area. But I think I like your advice of playing for 5 or 6 hours before I make a final 'gonna continue or not' decision. I just hope there is more mechanics to it than everything that was in the opening area.

I just re-downloaded the game. Is there any way I can do the story missions after the base vanilla story to reach the current pay-wall there is now? Or am i stuck reaching PW LV 780 and starting up from the moon? I just wanna see if the story slowly starts getting better, because to me, shooting and looting doesn't mean shit if there's no story to back it up, and thus far; there ain't no damn story worth sinking my teeth into. So if there's a way to trigger the start of curse of osiris and to continue from that point I'd appreciate the info, thanks.

haha warframe theme song plug at the end. I played Destiny 2 for a couple hours, but I honestly got tired of collect mcguffin and protect mcguffin. It also annoyed me that it seems like daunting process to upgrade previously owned exotics/legendaries and you end up just wearing blues again to fluff your power level. I was hoping that they would change that process and they still couldn't be bothered to, so you wear bland generic blues until 900. They could have simplified the whole merging process, so you wouldn't get the 1 for 1 so, for example exotic 750+ blue 777 = 760? and remove having to collect 10 of some item just to be able merge and I'm not even sure it's 1 for 1 when you do that.

I feel like you can only REALLY appreciate the story if you understand the lore really well, which is pretty cool for a lot of hard core players, but shit for newer players. I initially played through the campaign with a friend who’s super into the game and we were both hyped about seeing the triangle ship, going inside, and seeing that final cutscene, as all the lore implications were incredible. Then when I replayed the campaign, it was with a friend who didn’t know as much about the lore, and it was a stark contrast to doing it with my other friend. Instead of being hyped when we turned that corner, he was confused, not even sure of what he was supposed to be looking at. Going through the strike, he didn’t know the lore implications of Crota having a daughter, cuz he doesn’t even know who Crota is.

My problem with shadowkeep is when I finished the campaign I was asking where the other half is? It felt like it was entirely filler missions and bounties with only 2 actual missions 1 at the start and 1 at the end, with a strike in the middle. I can understand why it is that way but it feels like less of a story than curse of osiris or warmind.

to be fair there's a lot of new content added like vex invasions, armor 2.0, new raid, a new dungeon is coming soon, exotic quests etc. I think the biggest change to destiny is new light which is a cool way of changing how the game is perceived. There's a lot more positivity around destiny 2 which is nice :).

The way I see it: There never should have been a Destiny 2. Bungie should have kept adding content to the original Destiny. DLC like Shadowkeep takes D2 closer to that vision, so I'm all for it.

In terms of story, I respectfully disagree in regards to Forsaken. The story was extremely predictable, the player character has one voiced line of dialogue, and the biggest supposedly heartbreaking moment in the entire expansion was spoiled before it even launched. We knew Cayde was dead before we even got our hands on the game, so what was the point? We also never actually had in game moments with Cayde-6 so his death wasn't heart wrenching for me. It was just oh okay, only interesting member of the 3 is dead. Okay. Moving on.

Heres my problem, I like keeping up with content and more so loot. However, when I bought the game it was such a let down from the beginning that I ended up selling it. I decided that I wasnt going to give another live service game the benefit of the doubt that it'll get better. The problem for me NOW is that as someone who likes to keep up with content, I'm too far behind to want to catch up, even if the game turns out being the best game ever and that's why these devs have to do a better job and why the "what the game will become" argument is completely unacceptable.

@@calebjames7330 absolutely correct. though i think the black armory needs a rebalance. way to many things shooting at you from every single direction and bot suicide spam is rediculous.

Hey guys, long time viewer, first time commenter. Love your content btw. I am a D2 hardcore player. I played D1 but only casually (busy with school and partying, etc.). Now my life has slowed down and I game a lot more. Very cool to hear your critiques on the game from a more casual perspective. I can also relate as I used to be more casual. What I have realized about Destiny is that it is a game geared toward the hardcore. And with the launch of D2, Activision wanted to water it down to appeal to a wider audience. In my opinion Destiny is now in its best state and only getting better. As a hardcore player, we don't want a long campaign. I honestly race through the story (watch it on one character and skip cutscenes on the other two) to get to the endgame content, where the game truly shines. I did the raid on day 2 and it was my first one going in completely blind (usually wait a couple days for how to videos and then try to beat it before reset). Going in blind was incredible. The environment is second to none and learning the mechanics for each encounter on your own is truly satisfying. The next day I ran the raid again to get the new exotic raid weapon (divinity). There is an infamous raid exotic from D1 from wrath of the machine that had a truly complicated way to obtain it. Involved reading code and many complex steps to get Outbreak Prime. So I would say A LOT of the work that goes into destiny is in the endgame content, of which very little of the player population gets to experience. I have heard something like only 2% of players even go into a raid, which is truly the best content in the game. The cross save and the sandbox and quality of life changes also cannot be understated. As a hardcore player, I really appreciate the adjustments they have made. Very good changes. To summarize I would say that Destiny 2 is a game where the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. Beating a raid boss for the first time with a well oiled fire team of six is a truly accomplishing feeling. One that I have not experienced in many other games. Keep up the great content guys. mona lisa don’t worry man, that stuff is just for things surrounding the season of the undying and shadowkeep. I’m assuming you mean ikora’s bounties? She’s the vendor for the new season, and all of that stuff is just around vex offensive. Bungie really has turned things around, and I definitely would recommend giving it a try. Maybe try crucible? It’s been updated pretty significantly and is an actually fun experience now. If your luck is good, you might even be able to get a fire team together to do that first leviathan raid. Gauntlet can be a bitch, but that raid is actually a lot of fun. Plus, now that that raid armor actually matters you’ll get some sweet looking gear on top. It wouldn’t hurt to try, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Especially now that it’s free!
