Eris has always been the prime example of "looks evil as fuck but is actually one of the goodest good guys in the story." A betrayal or corruption involving her just wouldn't really fit the character I think. Her willpower is so astronomically strong, I don't think she'll succumb to the voices in the deep.
As others have said, I think our timeline is parallel to the the Dark future's timeline which reflects the times we didn't follow our "Destiny". Taking Eris for example, if we hadn't killed Crota and Oryx she wouldn't have been able to move on from avenging her fallen teammates; if we hadn't forged Xenophage and put her phantoms to rest she wouldn't have moved forward to helping Asher, or found a relationship with the Drifter; actually living. On its surface Revenge and Vengeance are almost the same... but Vengeance is on behalf of someone else, and that means the new hive god of vengeance inherently cares about her flock.
I don't think the Dark Future is happening, but it will be interesting to see what Eris does after Savathun is revived/after this season. And unless Rasputin is still kicking around somewhere, I think the odds are even lower of it happening.
@@landemossel I'm 100% sure that Clovis had a copy that a random Cloudstrider somehow stole and split into separate parts and can be found in Neomuna and somewhere on Nessus.
@@landemossel tbh, that’s what I was hoping for Neomuna. When it was referred to as Nefele Stronghold, I was hoping in part it had a secret, old, abandoned Warmind facility with a copy of Rasputin (granted, it would have been old Rasputin, not the new one from S19) that was effectively cutoff from the rest of the Warmind network. Now granted, Rasputin did say that the bunker in the Cosmodrome was a facility that was also cut off from the network? Or at least that’s how he made it sound when we had that special mission to go there and collect stuff. It makes me wonder if there isn’t a secret, segmented part of Rasputin still in that bunker somewhere…
We not only have Elsie guiding Guardians on handling Stasis, we also have Osiris who is now the instructor for handling Strand. The Dark Future event started by Zavala's recollection is the corruption by the Heart of the Black Garden indicating most Guardians don't have the strength of will our Guardian did let alone the strength. A lot of events had occurred involving Stasis and that of Eramis and Eliksni on Europa yet it was our Guardian who first responded to the call for action and they were open minded about means to fighting the Darkness. Not only that, Savathun had became a Guardian in her own right forsaking her Worm and the Witness creating Light-Bearing Hive aka the Lucent Hive with it. Not to mention ally Eliksni in the form of House Light lead by Misrakks and thanks to Xivu, the Cabal has joined forces with the Vanguard. Though I guess another difference is that our Guardian too was corrupted and was not as mentally strong as they are now. Safe to say if Eris does become berserk after becoming a Hive God and slaying Xivu, our Guardian would slay her and Immaru if needed.
@CommanderNixon that's what I understand, she says we're no exception but others are saying we don't exist in those timelines, so I'm understanding two different things
@CommanderNixon the difference in other time lines is we aren't as powerful as we are in this one, we were easily corrupted, idk why you're so pressed bro
well considering the fact eris wasnt alone and the fact shes controlling her hive power it means we prevented a lot from happening and the fact savathun also could be a potential ally as well one day is something that wasn't possible from the dark future timeline
What's cool is that everything in the dark timeline is happening but instead of us losing control we have the control. The Rasputin exo saved the traveller from leaving. The black heart is destroyed, most of the cabal and fallen are on our side, Mara is trusting us and helping us a bunch! And now Eris is becoming a witch queen but in control because Savathun is dead.
Unlikely. Our timeliness is the only one thus far that has avoided most, if not all of the other dark futures. The difference with this timeliness is that we are not ignorant to possibilities to not just help us survive, but to win. We have embraced the darkness but with extreme moderation. In a sense, us lighbearers are travelers that have become one with our inner veil. This gives us the power we need to defeat everything. Had we been only light bearers, our light would be extinguished to the concepts of the darkness. Had we been dark guardians we would be blinded by the light. But both? We become a temporal anomaly.
This reminds me a lot of Bloodborne. "Those who hunt monsters, are monsters themselves" The recklessness and bravery that defines us, is what also causes our end. We are so hellbent on doing what is considered impossible, that it borders obsession.
Eris must know, that Hive God of Vengeance or not, Hive Gods (in general) do not survive contact with Guardians, so it will be up to us, to stop her falling into ruin.
The most damning argument against Eris turning evil for good and getting killed? The moon. Combined with the fact that there is no more xpac sunsetting. Eris is an integral part of shadow keep and as long as SK is in the game, Eris cant be killed in the story. There are no story-dead characters still handing out quests or items. Even Rasputin was only recordings and silence after we finished the final mission in Seraph.
I think the dark future will be part of the new saga, past the light and dark. Also, Eris like Sloan have a objective to stop the Witness, but once the objective is complete, I think that’s when temptation will set in. Sloane could be the 1st dark guardian. And in Elsie’s dark future there really isn’t any mention of the Witness and/ or Xivu Arath one could only assume that they have been eliminated
I think you’re right on the money in this, but in the dark timeline we DID exist, but we fell to darkness too. We were tempted and suffered a similar fate
Don’t you see that the Dark Future runs simultaneously with our guardians timeline except the light wins…. “The line between light and dark is so very thin” The timelines run parallel to each other
The fact that this happened in another timeline means it won't happen exactly the same way in ours. But... There are many rivers of time. Some coalesce. Others don't. It's key to know more than you should. All of my detractors in one place.
River of time is singular, it's the flow is different streams within that river that represent different outcomes, but all flow the same direction. Our Guardian presence changed Elsie time loop, thus avoiding what happened in her dark future. The bond formed through our Guardian connects many characters friends and foes alike. Think of how Savathun had a plan which started Destiny and now her contingency plan after falling to the guardian is to enlist our power to relentlessly kill to take on Xivu in combat using her very own ritual against her and Eris was the key to this. Savathun fears the witness because it's plan kills everyone and for one who wants retribution for stealing the light from them so long ago, I'm betting she's not willing to lay down and die within stabbing the Witness in the back herself. Savathun is my favorite enemy, very cunning and witty although her composure broke fighting the Guardian. She has no choice but to trust in a power that even felled her great brother and listens to reason. The only way Savathun can get the Guardian to help is through humans, all the instances when confronted, it's always bullets first. So through the connection formed with humans, Savathun communes with the Guardian. No chance the Guardian was going to listen to Savathun ask to take out Xivu, she's get Thunder crashed in the face.
While we probably don’t have to worry about the city bombardment and a few other events, we should be very concerned about Eris turning evil. While Eris doesn’t have a hive brood she still knows a vast amount of hive magic. She is also gaining power to the point where she can kill Xivu. The more you kill, the more powerful you become so it’s a good chance she could turn on us after Xivu is defeated.
Thing about that is you need something to kill and if their breeding grounds are destroyed, no more tribute and powers are lost. No band aid, go straight for the root of the issue.
Eris' entire thing is absolutely despising the hive and doing her best to help humanity. Why would she turn on us? She's the hive god of vengeance. Going after those she loves would be like Savathun telling truths all the time, or Xivu Arath declaring peace.
@@hazeltree7738 yeah turning into a hive god is completely normal, nothing could possibly go wrong. Be serious she is a threat. She fell to corruption in the dark future, wasn’t specified how but here and now she turned into a Hive. She hated the Hive in the dark future and still fell to darkness and worked with them. She’s a hive now and gaining more massive amounts of power and she has struggled with darkness at times like in Shadowkeep. I don’t want to have to fight her, i really don’t. She’s one of my favorite characters. But I’m not blind to the fact that this can turn sideways real quick.
I wonder what’ll happen to Eris, I feel like it’s going to be a ton of work to return her to her normal form if that’s possible. Maybe she’ll be some kind of boss like the strike where we have to save maras techuen
Have we taken into account that when guaradians are brought back by the ghosts, they have no memory of their past? So when Sav comes back, her memory must be restored. I’m assuming there are recordings and visions in her throne world that will remind her. Still an interesting thought though as to how that will pan out.
She already has her memories back, we unintentionally helped her get them during witch queen, but defeated her when we revealed that her entire race was tricked into eating the worms by the witness and caught her off guard. Right now she is like us when we die, except only difference is she can’t press X to respawn because imaru fled before we could kill him
It would be awesome just to have a strike or mission that we go back with Elsie to that part of time line and we save Eris. That environment of the dark future could be amazing
He says our guardian didn’t exist but she said in the same video even we were turned to the dark makes sense why she was watching us long ago in d1 now it would be cool if the people she was talking to was future us
Are these whispers of the deep coming from the witness or from the actual “deep” itself, and is the witness possibly also hearing these whispers, and that possibly the witness is just another stepping stone to the ultimate evil in the universe
Dark future won't happen as final shape even has parts after the release of the dlc. Meaning the extinction is averted and the main big bad is gone, everyone is free to do as they wish. My thing is what will the God do, will it leave the simulation as is and return to it's domain outside? What will become of the Guardian will it become the Gods arbiter? Many questions remain, Dark Future was Elsie own infinite loop and didn't manifest outside of that. The US a different one which includes the Guardian but those have been averted. I don't think she can see this timeline future which is why she stayed here.
Think these futures are parallel to one another. Like a good and a bad timeline. Where the hero won instead of lost and the villain lost instead of won. Something tells me that the traveler might be aware of different timelines existing and resetting over and over again. And that it released our ghost to the wilderness to find us hundreds of years later. And this We know Cayde's been the vanguard for a while. Eris somehow sees a connection with us. She saved us all through destiny 1 and destiny 2. I think our ghost canonically has the deepest connection to the light and the traveler. As well as the veil and why he was the only one able to connect with the witness. While at first our powers were weak. We had the potential to exponentially grow stronger and stronger. The gods may killed along the way. We absorb their power with hive logic. I think the season is not only helping aris but help us a tune ourselves and become our own god.
Dark Future Eris timeline is not happening. The guardian joined the pyramid ships and fucked off, Eris and Drifter did not get close and Eris had not been able to work through the trauma of losing her fireteam. The guardian is still around, Eris has a friend in Drifter and others and has been able to move on from her trauma and uses it as a tool to help others. This isn't the same Eris.
I think they are setting up a "love conquers all" ending for her. She will go evil with the Hive and Drifter will save her with the power of love. I hope I am wrong.
