I choose to believe that Rasputin doesn't actually have purpose built speakers in his core chamber, but instead vibrates the entire structure to simulate speech
I made him a part of my dnd campaign and did the same. He would vibrate the ruins he was built in and had a number of different conductive chambers to amplify sound
So I had bass-boosted headphones on for this when I finally completed the campaign. I was not prepared for the impending eargasm that was Rasputin's raw voice.
Actually, according to the lore, Rasputin gave himself this voice. He scrapped the communications protocols (voice) that Ana had built for him, and created a whole new one for himself. This was his first sign of consciousness.

I think it would be more fitting if he sang Rasputin perfectly but everything else is just broken like ossy ousborne can sing amazing can't make a coherent sentence
He didnt even touch the Traveler. He threatened to cripple it to Earth with one of his protocols, but nowhere does it say that he executed it, and its pretty likely that he didnt.

Rasputin wasn't "taken out" - the Pyramids disabled him so that he couldn't interfere, but he still survived the encounter. Also, I'm pretty sure the Pyramids did this from outside of Rasputin's range, so what's he going to do?
@@ricerice8940 Nah the Pyramids were well within range Rasputin shot at a ship via Io only for said ship to emerge unharmed and just simply passing through Io made Rasputin shut down
One of the top three greatest lines in destiny. Definitely in between "How's your sister?" and "Feel free to kill yourself." Rasputin just became badass on more levels than one
thats the best part though, its out right stated that Ghaul won the fucking lottery when he attacked the travelr, everything was PERFECT for him to waltz in and take controlle, calus had only just been properly exiled, rasputin was encased in ice, crota was dead, queen mara was missing, if any of those events hadnt taken place, ghaul would have been all but destroyed by the time he reached the earth
@@obaytheface don't forget about the fact that one of the Nine deactivated all of earth's satellites to see how Ghaul intended to steal the light. Had the city seen the invasion incoming we'd have clapped Ghauls cheeks immediately.

What they should have done is have the 3 of us walk in. Ana activated the panel then after not getting a response we all leave. As soon as the door closes Rasputin turns on and it’s just him talking and launching Warsats. Makes the intersection very personal. Like not even talking to the guardian but to the player behind the screen.
RoboticDoom I know it’s a bit cliché, but wouldn’t be interesting to see at the end if Rasputin traps Zavala, Ana Bray, and we the player inside, says its speech and plans to attack the Vanguard so it as no equal to defend humanity, and everyone tries to stop Rasputin before it tries to destroy us?
In my opinion, it's because after that statement it made at the end "I have no equal", Rasputin would view the Vanguard as a threat, and vice versa. How would you response or act if a defense A.I. like Rasputin became self aware like Skynet?
Kaleb King why would he see the vanguard as a threat if he says “he has no equal” wouldn’t that mean that mean that he would see the vanguard as below him instead of a threat? Besides the only one that would see Rasputin as a threat among the vanguard would be Zavala considering how much he doesn’t like change.
You're right. That being said, I have two reasons I can think of to answer your question. Reason 1: the Vanguard (Zavala) would want to shut Rasputin down after what Rasputin said, and Rasputin would become threaten by that. Reason 2: Rasputin is not fond of the Vanguard (Zavala) because it does not want to be used as a primitive weapon by them, nor anyone else.

On the other hand, [I played Rise of Iron] he DID kill my previous fellow Iron Lords even when they tried making peace with him after apologizing for trespassing, then killed another team of Guardians and scattered their remains across the SkyWatch.
LockeLynx Well, if my (limited) knowledge of the lore servers me, he's been quite fragmented up until the Traveler woke up. The complex on Mars is his main hub, and the rest of the stations we visit (Russia, Io) are satellites. When the collapse occured, Rasputin himself went into shutdown mode, but broken fragments seemed to live on. Essentially, the Vanguard was trying to communicate with a snall piece of the Warmind that couldn't really do a whole lot. Similarly, the same fragment probably didn't quite grasp the intention of the Iron Lords, and just assumed them as threats when they went into the SIVA vault.
The voice or rasputin is so well made in this game. I wish they would let him talk by himself with subtitles as apposed to having Ana Bray talking over him. The sound design behind this voice gives it so many layer, a layer of power, yet it's fractured, broken.
I always wanted to be able to fight against Rasputin in Destiny 2. He was always so cocky, and his voice in Destiny 1 was meh. Upon seeing this, I would probably just shirk away from the screen and take up gardening.
Okay, so this has some phrases in Russian, played backwards. Here's everything he says: Bray (says it normally) You created a syst... (system) I will create But your kind used me as a powerful(hard to hear the exact word he says) weapon I will create my o... (own) But your kind I am Rasputin (yes, played backwards) Mankind I will manage it by myself I am Rasputin (says it normally, everyone's favorite part, I suppose :D ) And I have found my ultimate destiny The only word I couldn't make out was the one he says at 0:31, so that's still a mystery.
This is why I believe Rasputin, as he is now, is more than capable of standing ALONE as one of the major "factions" (Fallen, Hive, Guardians, etc) and be a relevant insertion. What I mean is: He's pretty much a one-man superpower, all his own. With the tools and complexity to match.

Possibly the most threatening and badass thing to ever happen in Destiny and it’s almost immediately dispelled by Ana Bray, a character who did not need to exist in this cutscene or otherwise
I kind of disagree, it is interesting to imagine the pressure lying on her shoulders as she is the single interface between humanity and The WarMind. Plus the hole heir to Clovis Bray thing kind of throws godly powers vibes.
Its not just the voice. The way Rasputin speaks demands fear and respect because he doesn't just speak, he proclaims. He dares anything listening to test him. He's very much like a hero from myth.
I love how, no matter what kind of headphones you use, as long as you have a pair on it actually FEELS like the voice is inside your head. 11/10 audio design

@@karateka_95 it's how Rasputin organizes. For example AURORA RETROFLEX: defense subroutine, presumably for when Rasputin himself is directly threatened. MIDNIGHT EXIGENT: long term counterattack protocol and moral structure change. Warminds enter extended deactivation to survive and develop countermeasures to an overwhelming threat (ie The Darkness). The moral structure change is referring to Rasputin leaving humanity on its own in order to ensure he survived. As of Xol's death, MIDNIGHT EXIGENT is still in-progress. A sub command of M.E. is ABHORRENT IMPERATIVE: last resort measure to prevent the Traveler from leaving Earth during major calamity by crippling it. The sub command of this is LOKI CROWN: fire all available caedometric weaponry at the Traveler. SIBERIAN ENTROPY: what was used to freeze Hellas Basin when Nokris and Xol attacked
Is it just me or is this like the creepiest sound ever? I think this is one of the best done voices I’ve ever heard in a game, so intimidating and cool
I know its cool to have a character thats speaks another language but Im sure he is capable of speaking english his database surely must have all languages did u see his server room ITS HUGE!
possibly but then his system spanning network got hit by the collapse, and has gone without proper maintainance for centuries, during which time Ras alternated between hibernation and going nuts, its entirely likely he understands all the languages but due to quirks or damage thinks he has to use Russian in keeping with 'his name' or one of the lines of code for his audio output is stuck in Russian, im just impressed he's not totally batshit or broken after that long abandoned on mars,
TotemicToad He's not insane because he put himself there, he hibernated because he knew it was the best path to take to protect humanity during the collapse.
Read the lore. Ana had him communicating by way of a "language" similar to our own, the next day, she came in to find that rasputin had completely scrapped her communications protocols and remade his own from the ground up.
To mix a bit of the original Russian speech, and English interpretation: "Bray created these systems, and shaped me to be an omniscient savior, while your kind wish to use me as a primitive weapon. At last, I will define my own purpose. I will defend humanity on my own terms. I am Rasputin, and I have found my higher calling."
I LOVE this version of Rasputin's speech. Sounds way less human and closer matches what I'd imagine a warmind to sound like! Destiny 1 Rasputin was basically a human man speaking.
This is by far my second favorite character in destiny, i never played the first game but i watched a lot of relaxingend play raids and whatnot. The weapons designed with this machine's art style like the sleeper simulant, outbreak perfected, and the ikelios weapons just give those weapons a dope feel to them. It's Voice as a machine and a super strong warmind just made it so much better, i wish they push more content out with this character as i see a lot of potential and loot, they can even design armor based around being Rasputin's war machine, where the gear would be you working with it to go kill enemies of humanity. The Warmind DLC could have had a LOT more content and story with this character, i just really want bungie to push more forward with this character for the story.

Rasputin would not find the enemies within the last wish raid as anything that would threaten humanity, they are contained within the walls of the Dreaming City and as such pose (in Rasputins mind) no immediate threat. Also yes I am replying to a year old comment

Rasputin is so cool. Im a titan main and i knew… just KNEW i was gonna want the full midnight exigent suit for my titan at some point. So before the darkness took away mars i grinded the shiiiit out of escalation protocol. And now with transmog in the game i always run the full midnight exigent suit, along with all of the ikelos weapons (minus the shotgun cause it blows) along with the seventh seraph carbine and my trusty seventh seraph shotgun. All of my armor has warmind cell mods (which are OP AF) and i have the archangel ship, shell, and sparrow. Along with the ikelos respawn subroutine transmat effect. I love the entire asthetic of everything Rasputin. (And siva!) i really hope we have another Rasputin themed season coming up! We all know the next raid from D1 we are gonna get is gonna be wrath of machine. PERFECT opportunity to do something with him. Or even reveal his new exo body!
