Destiny Lore The Collapse : What actually happened? | Myelin Games 

That was one of the toughest videos in a while! I really hope that I have given you some information about the collapse, sometimes I get to the end of the video and I wonder if I have helped understand the topic! At the end of the day, I spent a good 8 hours researching this topic, regarding any card or item description that used the word Collapse, searched through each NPC dialogue, searched transcripts of in game dialogue… just to see if we actually know what happened. Even then I still excluded, the Exodus program and detail about Rasputin (but I have covered that before). Ok… now I am rumbling… feel free to leave feedback. Thanks to the guys in discord for also helping

If you think about it the one thing all guardians have is a ghost. I think the ghosts prevent some memories from surfacing. In all the story missions there is no fear or wavering conviction in any guardians with a ghost. But those that lost a ghost like our there eyed friend in the tower or those that never had a ghost like Mira and the reef awoken show fear and reluctance to the movements of our guardians. It could be the ghost removes PTSD and other strategic memories to keep us on a given path while allowing just enough of a memory to keep is in a dream state and easily pliable. Just a thought.

Myelin I had a Pizza Hut pizza yesterday and looked under one of the 3 tripod looking things they put on the pizza so the box doesn't flatten and noticed it looked like the perk picture for the exotic perk for bad juju. Therefore Pizza Hut make the weapons of sorrow. Proven

I seem to remember that during The Blighted Chalice strike on the Moon, when a guardian enters the path to the final boss room and sees the giant "taken orb" above the shrine, the player's ghost asks "Eris, what is that stuff?" to which she replies, "Darkness, given form by Malok's cruel will." Perhaps this "taken orb" was indeed crafted by Malok and is made of pure Darkness? Could that be what Darkness looks like? I also seem to remember that Oryx's power to "take" things is given to him by the Darkness itself - since he spoke with the Darkness directly. Maybe when Cayde was enveloped, he was temporarily taken by the Darkness directly, rather than Oryx. The description of him fitting and not being able to control his movements seems logical since taken can't do that either.

Did the FWC tell us about the Red Legion?

I honestly think the Darkness is still here on earth and in small pockets all around the solar system, just not in its full strength. The guardians take the traveler's light with them in the form of ghosts, which enables them to venture into the darkness, but whilst inside, if they die, there is little to no light directly provided, to trigger respawning. Makes sense, doesn't it? What does it say when you wipe in a place where respawning is restricted, after all? "Darkness Consumes You" The Darkness is still here. You've just been overlooking it.

I love your work man, the work you put into crafting the lore is beyond amazing. don't ever give up on such amazing talents.

Great video about one of the greatest mysteries in Destiny. It's hard, intentionally I'm sure, to come to any concrete conclusions about the collapse, but you do a great job in highlighting what is known and provide evidence to support your theories without resorting to unsubstantiated wild speculation. As someone who is really interested in Destiny's alternate history I really appreciate that

Judging by the way the Darkness seems to swallow Cayde with tentacles, it definitely hints at Hive or Taken magic. One of the drawings in the journal also kind of resemble a Taken Cabal Phalanx

Never get rid of the background music ever, it's absolutely perfect it fits so well with the lore videos.

It's interesting, the wtich queen has given us more insight about the collapse. Savathuns worms tells us that the collapse was actually stopped by Savathun and it's implied even back then centuries agao she had planned to becoming a light barer, she knew becoming a light barer would free her from her worm, something she has been wanting to do for eons. The Traveller originally intended to enhance the Osmiums aswell. Savathun wasnt really our enemy, we were just in her way. Both the Witness and Rhulk were present during the collapse and woudl have destroyed the traveller if Savathun hadnt of stopped them. How she did it is still an unknown but she likley used her cunnign and trickery to falsifty the travellers destruction. Finally this comes full circle and helps explain the cutscene at the end of the red war, after the traveller reawokened it inadvertidly woke the black fleet up in the process.

So, given some new info that has come to light, here's what I think is going on. The Traveler, it has been said, makes us forget. Directly. Toland's ghost confirms this. Efrideet teased that an entire group of Guardians had left the solar system and had regained their memories as a result of being distant from the source of the Light. Then on top of that, the Exo's seem to have some sort of sub-routine that forces them to forget the details of any conflict they fight in. You can see the appeal; perfect robotic soldiers who never fail and never betray you because they do not even know what they have done for you. And I believe that the Traveler is making us forget the Collapse, because if we knew the truth we would give up, we would lay down arms and surrender. It can't take that chance.

This is one of my favorites that you have done. I love how you bring to life the almost hidden depth that most people overlook in the entire Destiny world. Anyone who complains that Destiny doesn't have a story has clearly never heard of you. Where Bungie failed to really bring their world to life, you have succeeded.

Love your videos, man. I do think the Vex had a hand only because Ghost talks about the Traveler stopping them at Mercury in one of the Vanilla quests.

Hey, Myelin, do you think the Osiris expansion may be an Earthborne Vex based one? Like, he comes back from Venus/Mercury/Mars to warn us of an imminent Vex attack on Earth? Kinda similar to Eris and the Hive. Or maybe Saint-14 comes instead, to warn us of Osiris reviving Earthborne Vex and leading them to the City after the Cabal attack and whatever happens in the Warmind expansion. I have other ideas if you want to talk about it.

Ive actually thought about the light shockwave theory before, as a last ditch effort from the traveler to push back the darkness. Your speculation into how it would contributed to the origins of the awoken makes a lot of sense. I think "true darkness" will eventually be revealed a whole new enemy type. something even worse than thr hive

another great lore video man, i pour hundreds of hour in destiny and i always had a love/hate relationship with this game due to the miss opportunity however, you make me so interested in the world of destiny with top quality video man. i just hope bungie learn from their mistakes.

You know it would be great to have the Fallen be good guys.They just seem like they want to save their race.I do hope Bungie makes the Fallen allies in Destiny 2.Then again we dont have the full story of the Fallen so I wont jump to any conclusions

Lore video idea/theory- if you haven't at some point made a video about the original khvostov flavor text I would strongly encourage you to do so bc I think there could be a very plausible theory that the exo stranger placed it there. Also she was at the end of the first mission when you leave in your ship and sort of tracking. I think that you should look into it bc you could do a much better job at digging up every piece of info on it and explaining it. Keep up the great vids!

This is also a theory I had at least on the awoken I was thinking that the queen might actually be one of oryxs sisters who maybe where in persuit of the traveler and the blast could have transformed her. This is supported by the opening video for the taken key no when she states she still remembers the day she was born and how she also mentioned oryx crawling out of the pit which could be the deep

I believe at one point in the original campaign they confirm something like that shockwave theory that you talked about. I completely support this btw

Loved the video! I left it only asking more questions, as Destiny often makes me do. and so i ask; what if the Vex are wiping the ones who are aware of the collapse from existance, as a way to hide the real truth of the Darkness' identity? What if the Darkness is the Traveler, and it has a deal with these agents of the dark? Oryx knew this, he spoke with the dark and gained its power. To Take, to control. The Traveler after all is only heard by The Speaker, so what if we are being lead estray on these "Side Missions." Being told me have to vanquish these foes that are a threat to the city, but who gives us this info? T h e S p e a k e r. The Traveler controls these minions, giving them power for their control of will. Oryx could take, but had nothing to give except his death. Atheon the times conflux lived within t i m e i t s e l f, and yet was killed by us. Again the question comes to mind when you question that some of our allies outside of the tower tell us to be warry of our power. What if the sting of Desthiny 2 Is that The Traveler and The Speaker are extentions of the Darkness. The Cabal attacking the "Last Safe City" removes the control of The Traveler iover us and our light and in a way we make our own Destiny, revealing the big bad as The Traveler and fighting it instead of these mini bosses. This is just a theory, feel free to poke holes and give me feedback!

I've got the mother of all twists. I have nothing to base this on but here goes. What if we don't beat the Cabal? They and/or the Psions just royally kick our ass. Instead of turning into Dark Guardians we look to the Void. But who can hook us up with a way to the Void? Well, a powerful enough Hive can cut holes in space and who do we know that's close to them? Eris and a few others not to mention Oryx's sisters are still out there somewhere..So we get booted from Earth and can't rely on the Traveler anymore. On our path for new light we run into Eris that, either herself or a Hive directly, gets us into the Void. We run into Osiris and come up with a plan to use Vex tech to travel back in time to stop an event that in the smallest way, butterfly effect, starts the snowball. Osiris tells us that the only way to use Vex tech is to suck down some Vex juice. Somehow Rasputin becomes infected as well and begins the path to becoming Atheon or at least a prototype that will eventually give birth to Atheon. Since we know very little about the origins of the Vex, what if we become the first versions of the Vex?
