Wait nevermind I see what you’re saying. Yes I know but we were referring to a top end only. If you were to blow it up completely the total cost would be around $1200-$1500. At least that’s for my rebuild if I needed it done.
Wow you guys really know about great production quality, I had a look at Devin's channel and subscribed right off, that is some slick work right there!
Love the straight to the point rebuilds. You skip all the BS and get to the point, hard to find video's like this.. It makes me miss rebuilding my yz125 and cr125.. I haven't had to rebuild a engine since i got a kx250f.
This engine reminds me of my ktm 525 engine(the damage was about 4000$ in new parts ). I rebuild it with a ktm 520engine and some new parts (only 600$ in total)
If you can, please show what parts of the dirtbike wear out fast. Which parts need to be maintained so they don't wear. I saw a video that shoewed the chain wearing through the swing arm, and the linkage bearing
hey cam! i love how you have your blast cabinet set up with a pressure washer i would love if you could make a vid about it how you built it and were you got everything from. i have not seen one like yours and i would love to have the same set up. thx!
I know this video is old but on my 2017 kx 250f I found 2 metal chunks along with a bunch of shavings so far and my mechanic friend thinks there from a thrust washer I haven’t opened it up to much but one of the chunks was in the clutch case and the other was in the black screen filter thing where they where in this video and I was wondering if you have had any similar experiences the bike runs fine but the clutch doesn’t work the best and from as far as I can tell there is not chipped gears or missing lugs on the clutch plates
So as an engine guy obvs. Are 2 strokes really that much cheaper to maintain and fix in a bad case such as this kx engine? Im debating between a 250sx/tc or a 450f but engine work scares me.
Cameron, let me ask you. So when you went to buy the bike, are their hints that the bottom end is shit? when you get hints like that, do you low ball the seller, So you don't spend to much? Do they usually get mad when you try to lower the price?
hi, i am looking for shell bearing assembly for crankshaft and not ball bearing, i want to learn the procedure, do u have a video of some engine with shell bearings? ty
Tyler Hughes i want to get to that point as well but i am just buying and selling dirtbikes atm Got to learn how to work on them pretty soon here probably in January
Hi. First off all, you did a great job on the video and your imagequality and content are amazing. But i have one question: How did you manage to break lose the bolt which on the crankshaft at minute 6:42? Im am currently also trying to repair an old Honda 125cc motor and I also removed everything except this nut, because I do not know how to lock the inner clutch basket so that it does not move when I try to losen the nut. In your your video it seems like you could just hold the basket but that did not work for me. I hope you can help me and keep up the great work !
i never been in a kx85, i have a kx125 2 stroke and it looks alot like that kx250 motor, water pump, kick start gear, clutch and all that look identical, if you showed me parts out of a cummins 5.9 or a 4BT or a cat 3304, 3306 or a C15 or a waukesha 330 or anything like that i would jump on it, those are the ones we mostly get, 5.9s and 330s out the wazoo from one customer runs locations but i rarely hardly ever get to work on bikes, sometimes i wish i could trade
Hey Cameron can u confirm that 3, 4, 5th gear transmision sprockets are factory made weak ? on my crf250r 2008 they ever even from difrent steel or somthing even color is difrent and i never had to change anything else that 4th and 5th gear
dont buy it! buy 2 stroke because you are not rich if you buy crap and it blows on u get ready to spend 2x you paid for your husy. or buy gasket kit so you could inspect engine before you even ride
I'm not too familiar with TE510s, but check over the usual. Brakes, spokes, suspension seals, sprockets, linkage, cleanliness of air filter, etc. Biggest thing, if it's hard to start and it backfires on decel then it most likely needs valves.
Good evening? why does this type of problem happen in this type of engine? CRF also causes this. What do you do to avoid this kind of problem? Thank you
U sure know ur way around an engine...so many little pieces...getting it apart isnt the problem..problem is wondering why i have leftover nuts and bolts and gears when its back together lol....nice work bro
With all the bikes you take apart, and parts that are trash. You could recycle the aluminum and just create ingots or custom casting. Not sure if you are into that but for my it is an interesting thing to do.
@@TheMotocross4life It's the top end that's the pain.. head and valves very $$ to rebuild. Also hate how hot the exhaust gets! Love the smooth power of the 4 stroke but 2 stroke wins every time in weight vs power vs cost.
@@99KingKoopa Yes but in 2t engines the main reason of failing is the piston, whereas in 4t engines I've definitely seen more broken rods than seized pistons, and guess which case will cost more.. To be honest I've never seen a rod braking in a 2t, only the bottom rod bearing
