even though there is a greater meaning in this game that I do not know of, it's so beautiful! thank you for playing this Ryan I really appreciate you playing games like this one. :3
Oh ryan the area you spent most of your time in was filled with only extinct fish and also when you meditate you watch a creature and in the bottom right hand corner it tells you that creatures name. You can meditate in every section. That thing you initially called a "big Whale" was an elasmosaur a big creature with a really long neck.
What a beautiful and breathtaking game. It's full of this sense of wonder that is almost overwhelming (in a good way) and it's a credit to the developers that you can feel so immersed even when watching someone else play it, it feels like you are going on that journey as well. Great series Ryan
I think the meditation thing is just so you can just sit there, enjoy the atmosphere, watch the fish and learn their names. It's really nice, actually.
Hey Ryan x I just want to say thankyou for putting your all into these videos we all really appreciate it x I have been subscribed to you since almost the beginning 💕 and from all the way back there you still put your heart and effort into your videos x ♥ thankyou keep up the good work :)
I was super upset when the shark died, but that comeback fiddled with my emotions In such a good way 😭 (Also Ryan, you completely didn't notice everything in that cave was prehistoric life 😉)
Wow, that Abzu game is so majestic! You know, this reminds me of a Wii game called Endless Ocean: Blue World. Man, I remember playing that game when I was young. It was so relaxing and a lot like Abzu in a way. I highly doubt anyone has heard of it, but seeing somebody play it again would be amazing. You should check it out when you have the time Ryan!
Ryan if you look at it closely, the temple at 1:27 seems to be a santcuary for creatures long thought to be extinct, like the Diplocaulus and Icthyosaurs
A protagonist is generally someone thought of as good. So you meant that you thought the shark was the antagonist. Anyways, this game to me is an analogy for what we are doing to the ocean. That's part of why I love this game so much.
I have two theories for this game. One is a theory on what the game could mean and represent, the other for the game's actual story. My theory for the story is that there was once this underwater civilization, sort of like Atlantis, and the residents lived in peace with all the wildlife of the sea. But then a certain group of these people decided that the life of the ocean was getting out of hand, and should be controlled. So they created the organization of the triangles to destroy much of the ocean life. The opposing people who were still trying to protect the sea eventually died or something, and the only one left is the character you play as; and their responsibility is to bring peace and life back to the ocean. And then my theory for what the game could represent is, maybe it's some sort of depiction of how technology is taking over the world, destroying many of nature's beautiful creations. But eventually, nature will soon rebel and take back what was stolen from it. That's what it seems like to me, with the triangles that will destroy anything that comes near it, but then at the end of the game moss and coral begins to grow over the remains of the triangle.
Ryan, I've been noticing this alot, so I'm sorry I have to say this: "protagonists" are the main characters or good guys of a story, and ANTAGONISTS are the bad guys/opposite of the main character in stories. You talk about villains or monsters and such with protagonists when it should be antagonist, as YOU are the protagonist. Again, sorry to be a grammar nazi or whatever, but that has been bugging me for awhile. STILL LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Can't wait for more! :)
thank you so much for playing this game and it had been fun experiencing the awesomeness of the story line please play more games like ABZU and stay awesome and I will see you soon thanks for reading this comment
RYAN! I'm not sure if you know who protagonist is and what it means. Protagonist is a center of the story. The main character. The one you control. Antagonist is a main bad guy. Darth Vader in the star wars, Joker in the Batman, Walrider in the Outlast... etc Here you called shark a protagonist. In the Outlast you've asked: "So, this is our new protagonist?", seeing that old cannibal dude. I would be thankful if you could answer to that comment. :) Sorry for my bad english, not my main. Still learning :P
Basically he talked about the programmer, not the cannibal dude. You were confused as he was talking about the programmer we were playing as, while he was near the cannibal.
Also, who is the protagonist is controlled of who are you. There are 3 cases : 1. The player is the center of the story and he is the protagonist 2. The player is taking part on the story, but he isn't the center of the story. 3. The player is actually a "God"(This happens mostly in Simulation games), as he controls everything, and no story occurs
Absolutely loved this little play through, this game is completely beautiful!! I also thinks there's a meaning to this: as humans, what we do with the ocean, is damaged it, killing living species for our own benefit, which isn't necessary (as shown by the ending and credits), so as humans, if we stay on land, and leave the ocean to be itself, natural beauty will spread (no I'm not a spiritualist)
Ryan, if you like this game you should play an older game these people made, the game is journey and i personally think Journey is a master piece just like you and this game! :D Edit: the ending of journey is VERY and I MEAN VERY like this one! :D
Hey Ryan, I found this playthrough so relaxing and amazing. So I want to recommend another relaxing game for you! Could you play Journey? it's got almost the same style as ABZU!
love this so much your my favourite youtuber always putting a smile on my face and I watch you every single day and this game is AMAZING do more games like this!!! please ;)
Sorry Ryan, but you're doing it again. :x Protagonist is a hero of a story. Main character. Antagonist on the other hand is opposition to the protagonist. Anyway, keep up the good work! Love your vids, man!
This game is beautiful, theres is a game just like ABZU called Journey. I highly recommend you play it. Keep up the amazing work, you an amazing person and very entertaining, you make every single video so much fun to watch
I know you posted this a while ago... But since you enjoyed it, I was wondering if you had heard of *GRIS* !?! It's a platformer game, but the style is beautiful and pretty unique. Like *ABZU* the game is very clam and relaxing for the most part... I'm honestly not too sure how to explain the game, but if you want to take a look at it, you can find it on *Steam* .
also Ryan the shark statue and meditation was simply for you to enjoy the scenery around the areas and look at the wildlife, they were actually scattered around every area and not important to the story :)
Two vids on a row...that's what i'm talking about :D Love ya vids! Keep it up..i always check your channel if you have any vids uploaded, but looks like i was kinda late on this one.
Pretty sure you've gotten this by now, but protagonist IS the good guy. The word you're looking for is "antagonist". Think of it this way; Pro=Good=Protagonist, Anti (in this case)=Bad=Ant(i)tagonist (Just drop the "i" I threw in there and you have An-Tag-On-Ist). Not ranting, I'm just trying to help cause I like your channel. I've watched you when this was 8 Bit Gaming. Where's Other Ryan, BTW?
you know what ryan i think that the ancient structures in abzu are supposed to be buildings of the lost city of atlantis, think about it the legend of atlantis says that it vanished because the city suffered from a mysterious flood that made the city sink into the ocean and the ancient building like structures that you see throughout the game resemble a flooded city.
Wow, I had been asking you to play this in your recent videos because it wasn't coming up in the search bar for some reason. I just found this and watched it straight through. If you want to play another game like this, I would suggest Journey or Rime.
