She's like the pretty music teacher in high school that all the kids fell in love with, and a fantasized about her listening to their terrible bands music and being really complimentary

A lot of the time The Charismatic Voice is reviewing songs / genres she’s not been exposed to before & it’s just so fun watching her experience ‘new’ things.
Finn, I know I’m probably in a minority of your fans, but I actually love when you go deep on the business, marketing, and art design of a band and explain how it helped or hurt their popularity. Maybe there are up and coming or underground bands open to your feedback or even artists outside the rock scene who you would point to as being on the fore front of where you see rock/music going.
Charismatic voice works because she's knowledgable and likable. It takes it to the next level because of how unexpected it is for a classically trained vocalist to validate a style of music most wouldn't expect her to give the time of day. Couple that with her being objectively attractive and her channel works on lots of levels.
I agree with your take on Charismatic Voice. I don't really care about most reaction content but her very technical reviews of Slaughter to Prevail, Lorna Shore, and Type O Negative were incredibly entertaining and she is an amazing vocalist as well.
My wife has a degree in vocal performance, teaches private voice lessons, and teaches at a school. She walked into the room one time while I was watching a Charismatic Voice video and started pointing out to me a lot of the jargon and terms she uses don’t make sense and/or are inaccurate. It was just a few minutes from one video so take from that what you will, but I think she benefits from a lot of her viewers not knowing about singing or not being a classically trained singers and can get away with saying some stuff that is wrong or not technically correct. She has a great voice and I’m sure she has had a lot of couching and what not, but at the same time I would take her technique things with a grain of salt.
@@suddenswarm5944there most definitely is!! You can go to 10 different coach/teachers and get 15 different responses. People that are classically trained are for the most part indeed trained different that someone who is pop trained.
@@clintjanes3784I think anybody can respect a music channel because they know what they are talking about while there are people out there that do make music content but don’t know anything about making music
I love how Pat Finnerty (my brain has finally hit the frying pan) insists on playing a Squire Strat signed by Train. I enjoy watching 12 Tone too, who is certainly in the same ball park as Adam Neely, but I find his explanations of music theory more comprehensible (and a lot of it still goes over my head), but at least he discusses 'popular' music, or at least music that isn't just jazz.
Doesn't hurt The Charismatic Voice is absolutely, stunningly, beautiful, and just seems to be a great person. Plus I like to see what seem to be, maybe a little "off-brand", to metal, reacting to it
Ola's such a beast, not least because of the "brand synergy". It works because the quality is there with Solar, obviously, but every single video he makes is also a Solar ad. Completely naturally too. Every product demo for other companies, everything. Incredible strategy.
Grady Smith's deep dive into those country singer turned tiktoker girl group was really fascinating to me! So cool to know you are friends. You guys are both great!
Also likes charismatic voice for the tea time interviews with different vocalists, like the singers from lacuna coil, sabaton and the darkness. She got that thing graham norton got, to be able to take stars and just chat with them and get them comfortable.
I think the thing you said about not knowing as much as Adam about theory, and tying into your music production company, is a good thing. A lot of artists who make their own music have a basic to intermediate level of understanding it, like Charlie Puth, and he just does what sounds good. I'm all for flashy and high level composition, but sometimes the feeling is more important than the structure.
i never watched todd in the shadows but i remember his name since forever because he was on channel awesome when they were like the first batch of youtubers
For episode 3, I’d love to see your cover: 1. Vin And Sori - a husband/wife Christian couple who does reaction videos to various metal and hard rock songs, but in a very thoughtful and nuanced way (they even got a shout out from none other than Nergal himself for their analysis of “Blow Your Trumpets, Gabriel”). 2. Metal Trenches, whom you’ve interviewed before. 3. Sea Of Tranquility
Finn I found you 3 months ago from your Jordan fish interview bc I watch BMTH interviews a lot. I stayed and like all of your content. That said, I think you are a really good podcast interviewer and it would be cool to see more interviews where you are having a conversation. I liked the Nik Nocturnal interview too. So yeah looking forward to more interviews with musicians, RU-vidrs, & other creatives!
The niche passions paying off is super true. My wife is into fountain pens and she tunes into a weekly RU-vid podcast called The Pencast. They just talk about fountain pens and ink.
I started watching you because you showed me Boxcar Racer, and I enjoy your videos especially when you throw in a real life “kinda” story about listening to so and so song back in the early 2000s and giving it a backstory.
You absolutely nailed it with Glenn Fricker .. the abrasive, yelling persona is a schtick, just like, say, Ola has his own different style of on camera personality.
Someone put it perfectly that Ola has "drunk guy energy" and it's a perfect description. I think people who dislike Glenn probably dislike Finn for similar reasons in that they both are very opinionated which can come off as being an asshole to people who don't like their opinions challenged
I watched Glenn regularly until he got stuck on the Gibson. I'm not a Gibson guy or anything, the shows just got too repetitive. I haven't checked back to see if he ever moved on.
I love your videos man its like you're so laid back and can be real about your opinions and not phony. You got me to listen to more Hardcore bands too so thank you lol never stop bro seriously MUCH LOVE!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
12:30 You seem to always express your thoughts in a respectful way without being wishy-washy or uncertain. It genuinely blows my mind that people would consider you to be a dick because I feel like I have learned how to be more thoughtful and fair when sharing my opinions from watching your videos.
I remember the first time I heard him make the point about trying to be helpful and it coming off as being an asshole and it made me consider that I probably do the same lol. I've also started trying to be more conscious about all the sarcasm I use because I wonder how much actually comes off as me being serious vs making a joke
Be yourself man. You’re not an asshole, you just tell it like it is. Some people just can’t handle it when someone else’s opinion is different than theirs.
You hit it perfectly. Strive to be kind as a first response and make it your mission to learn from everyone. I think those are the keys to being likable online and IRL.
don't wan to come across like a fanboy or something, but I've been with you from the start and i always found really nice and sympathetic, you never came across like a dick to me.stay who you are finn you're awesome and i learned a lot from you, have nice weekend with your family and stay rad!!!!
You have to be one of my favs. I love your sense of humour. Maybe I’m an asshole too 😂 anyway because of you I got into hardcore. I’m 43 years old and when I was in high school I loved punk like Nofx, green day, blink 182 but i also loved heavy metal. Especially slayer. Not sure why but I didn’t check out hardcore at all. You opened me up to a whole new genre!!! Thanks for the great videos
Love the Grady appreciation! He's so talented as a youtuber. Two years ago I didn't care at all about country music, but his videos are so engaging, and he introduces so much great music, that I have totally become a fan. I've seen 4 country acts live now, and I have tickets for a fifth. Totally changed my perspective on country music, and is entertaining no matter what you listen to
I haven’t watched too many Vocal Coaches, but I have seen Rebecca Vocal Athlete’s reactions to Devin Townsend’s Kingdom and Dead Head (in that order) quite a lot. Great for a pick me up with Kingdom or just an interesting moving experience for Dead Head.
Great way to "destroy" rival youtubers 😁Thanks for reviewing them. The content all of you put out is awesome. Great music, information and entertainment. I knew most of the youtubers you mentioned, and I'm happy to have discovered a couple new ones.
If Finn is going on a war against other RU-vid Finn's then I fear his battle against F1nnster. He has a instant +5 confusion against all enemies and has a army the size of Honolulu.
A good way to come across better is called a “bad news sandwich”. I work as a therapist, and this is taught in grad schools and used constantly in the field. Start with a positive: “I think drums are incredibly creative.” Then the problem: “however, I believe guitars should push the boundaries past architect riffs” Another compliment: “but again, drums are incredible.” Give it a shot! But there also people who just want their opinion to be the only opinion. So, gotta balance that out 😂
Yep! I always do that, but because negativity bias is a thing (look it up), people generally ignore the many positives and only hear the critical parts.
Thanks for turning me onto Grady Smith. I like to listen to country here and there, but nothing about it ever shows up for me on the algorithms, none of my friends listen to country at all, and apparently Grady likes Hardy as much as I do. He got a new subscriber in me.
I watch 3 of these channels on a semi-regular basis so I'm entitled to an opinion. And since I'm usually right about most stuff, you can safely assume I know what I'm writing about. 1. Adam Neely. If not most, then at least a large percentage of his viewers are musicians, myself included. Well, ok, I'm not a musician, I'm a bassist. But so is he - and a monster one at that. And he knows his theory, and he definitely can talk about it in a really interesting manner. Me, I know fuck all about theory, I know my minor from my major and that’s about it - but listening to him, I feel I open myself to new knowledge, one I once didn't care much about. I find myself wanting to learn theory. This is Adam's fault. 2. Charismatic Voice. Elisabeth is just so likable, it's hard to resist watching her videos. And, like with Adam and theory, she made me appreciate good vocals so much more! What's more - she made me want to learn to sing. I mean, actually learn. Besides, it's thanks to her that I discovered Jinjer and Devin Townsend. 3. Spectre Sound Studios. Glenn's an opinionated mf (like you are, Finn) but he does a really good job educating people on how to get good tonal results without spending a fuckton of money. Hell, I learned something from him, and, me being a bassist, says something. I only wish he didn't talk so much about Chinese gear, as sponsoring Pooh's regime will fuck all of us in the long run. Support Taiwan, people!
I also had Todd in The Shadows on my recommended page for a long time. I watched him and eventually binged his entire One Hit Wonderland series from newest to oldest. Definitely worth a watch if you are interested in the stories behind the one hit wonder.
I'm still shocked people actually make a living off RU-vid. I met a guy who's doing it. I guess its getting that common, but yeah he started making videos when he wa like 15 and is now making a living. I guess there's no way around it. it takes years
I hadn't really thought of it until recently, but Ola might be the biggest influence on my guitar playing, along with Alexi Laiho and Marty Friedman. I had been playing guitar for a long time, but I don't think I ever was a good rhythm player until I started watching him play.
Bradley being a software engineer makes so much sense, before dropping out of college most of the dude software professors were super goofy guys in a monkey suit 😂
Another reactor/teacher (who gives similar vibes as Charismatic Voice) I love is Chris Liepe. Super knowledgeable, also has done lots of collabs with artists for “this is how I do this, this is what it feels like, here’s what the production of that looks like”.
"hard work pays off" and he talks about a youtuber? LOL. The nurse or construction worker or waiter should just work harder to overcome poverty!!! This words out of a "punk"'s mouth are just so sad...unbelievable...
Big fan of Nic. He always has entertaining content. Ola is interesting in his own way. Stevie-T is off the rails, but dude is talented. Would love to see a colab review between you and Nic though
Why is it you never see any RU-vidrs doing this kinda thing, but in the EDM space? The only RU-vidrs that do electronic music stuff that I ever see are more DIY type channels or focus more on gear.
I literally started watching charismatic voice because her video with will ramos....word on the street is she is possibly gonna be involved on a future lorna shore song/album...
23:44 I love Glenn. He's not mean at all lol, he's like someone's big jovial uncle. A guy who acts crazy but has more common sense than anyone in the room. In fact he helps younger bands and producers not blow $1000s in cash on overhyped equipment.
Been a fan of Neely’s channel for years. He’s got some great vids that go beyond simply being an arch-music nerd (thought Finn was definitely pidgeonholing him here). One of my favs though is his dismantling the notion that the tritone was banned by the Catholic Church in mideval Europe - a sad realization for any metal lover!
Todd in the Shadows is a national treasure and I'll be a patron of his until the heat death of the universe - ditto that for Pat Finnerty. They both agree Train is the worst, which is objectively correct.
I love that dan frampton put out another video talking shit about finn and finns repsonse was to make a video about other music youtubers and flat out ignored his existence😂
I don't think I've watched your other "review RU-vidrs" video, so I'll have to go back and see who you talk about there, but my favorite music deep dive channel is probably Trash Theory.
Most just wanna see other people from different walks of life introduced to niche music and shit that they themselves like to see what they say about it. For someone like Charismatic Voice that's where most of the views come from imo. "Opera singer chick listens to grunge for the first time", that's what pulls people in
the difference between all those people and The Charismatic Voice is that she is a pretty famous Opera singer and she performed for the Queen and the royal family.
