@@Jeff-uk9cu Lithium, Sodium, Potassium Rubidium Caesium and then Francium metals, in that order, explode more and more re-actively in water, now that is pure elemental, metal Li, Na, K, stuff like that. However, Sodium explodes in water, and chlorine is a toxic gas, yet, when dissolved into water, and then crystalized, it forms common table salt. With that in mind, and all the phosphates, and chlorine/ fluorine, and other items found in the ocean, most of the lithium will form some form of ionic salt. once obtained, the salts, being LiCl or NaCl, will need to be heated until the salt itself melts, then a cathode and electrode are introduced, and the separation of the lithium and chlorine can happen then you can obtain pure alkali metal. It tarnishes, rusts (reacts with air) almost instantly, and introduction into water causes it to explode because the lithium reacts with the water, pulling a hydrogen from the water molecule, releasing the hydrogen, and heat, forming LiOH, lithium hydroxide, and a very hot, flammable gas, that, when hits air, combusts. The reason that Francium reacts more than Potassium, is that the single electron in the outermost shell is further from the atom, and easier to be "lost" making the reaction happen faster.
