In festivals, with a lot of bands, they have to set up their instruments quickly. Maybe for this reason, I saw Adrian Erlandsson from At The Gates using a "frankenstein" drum set, with toms and thw kickdrum coming from 2 different sets. When he was playing with cradle of filth he used a "true" twin kick drum..

Easier to mic, using triggers, and of course personal preference.

No offence ofcourse, but with triggers there's no use for miking the b drums.And if you prefere a twinkicker, get rid of the useless b drum....Its allways about choice and preference i know, but make up your mind...

Doctor Phibes you can mic and trigger a bass drum to give it a "big fat" sound like people do with snares you gotta understand soooo many people do this and its not just for looks some of the time
