Very enjoyable again Simon. Totally agree that polystyrene beads are inadequate for a bean bag. I have loads of bean bags, all shapes and sizes, some homemade and some quite expensive ones. Having tried many types of fillings over the past 30 years or so I have finally settled on a combination of plastic beads and buckwheat husks. The plastic beads are the best but bloody heavy, especially on a big bag so I now fill bags with roughly one third in volume of beads and the remainder in buckwheat husks. The beads can settle to bottom of the bag after a while but a quick shake soon redistributes them. That particular issue actually works well on an A shaped bag when used over a car door or similar as the heavier beads tend to go down the legs and hold it in place. Take care.

Another great video Simon. I really enjoy your channel. Gutted to see that the Fjallravens Stubben backpack has been 'improved'. Gone are those nice leather straps and disappointingly the side straps which would have been useful for carrying a tripod. Great shame as it looked like a nice bit of kit and I was seriously considering buying one.

Yeh, i know exactly what you mean Dave. I bought my lad the same pack for Christmas and was surprised when it turned up. He still ended up with it but i much prefer mine. Maybe worth phoning some suppliers to see if they carry old stock or keep an eye on ebay👍

That bag is just awesome isn’t it. Like you say expensive but you get what you pay for. I saw the thumb stick on a previous video, I do like that idea. Those shots of the king fishers and then the Deer were spot on and what a shame about the Deer though. Thanks mate 👍, Ant

SIMON EARDLEY funny, I sensed you were upset. Yeah life’s a bummer and don’t we know it at the moment mate. I mean you have to look at it as a kind of a privilege to see something like that?

Hey Simon, You're getting to be 'essential' viewing during the lockdown over here, please keep posting. This episode has really got my 'creative Juices' flowing and I need a follow up from you on how and when to harvest and create one of your thumb walking sticks? We are just heading into Autumn over here, so it might be a good time for me to be out and about with my Swiss Army chainsaw looking for the right kind of branches?

Great ideas on finding the Kingfishers, but by the look of the black ribbon flying from the branch on the stump that you sit under (16:56) it looks to me that you just have to walk the river and sit under everyone else's spots? hahaha As I said previously. . ."Essential Viewing" !!
@simoneardley
@simoneardley 4 года назад
Hi Bruce, only noticed that when ive just looked back at the film. Unfortunately that is flood debris that is literally everywhere. When this river floods it comes way up over where i was sat and the trees get full of plastic waste which is what you can see here👀😩

Hi Simon. It would be a great help if you could put some web links to your gear and you might be able to make a little something back if you used affiliate links. Just a thought Your videos are extremely helpful, so thanks for sharing your experience 👍

Hi, Just like to ask your views on that Sigma 150-600mm? I keep going back to it as also looking at a used Canon 600mm F4 IS original version at £3500 and the Sigma at £700 new, I do use the Canon 7D MK ll and also wonder if the 1.4 mk ll converter would aslo work along side the Sigma. Thankyou, Russ.
@simoneardley
@simoneardley 4 года назад
I'd love a 600mm F4 but the bank manager just wont allow it!!!😩The Sigma is a great compromise, youve still got the focal length and also the versatility of the zoom which can be a game changer. I use mine with a 1.4 x convertor and the light loss and image quality is negligible really. Ive had some great photos with mine👍🏼📷

A nice video, makes me miss the great outdoors, but could you point out to viewers that Kingfishers are protected by law. They are on Schedule 1, making it illegal to photograph them at or near the nest. Watching for where they fly into a steep bank and then waiting nearby to photograph them would be breaking the law.
@simoneardley
@simoneardley 4 года назад
Yeh I,m aware of that Andy. The location was next to a banking but i can assure you that they weren't nesting in it. Good point with making others aware of the Schedule 1 listing, I'll mention it in my next film
