06:13 Since were drinking beer in my shop its totally okay to mention that I work naked most of the time. I can express myself even better without clothes. BTW your filming and editing is just from another world. You increased your skills to a pretty high level, sir. Iam glad I could help.
Oh thank you! really appreciated feedback. Maybe I mention that you also have a new project ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-18_zSkv2zEM.html I'm 1 hour ahead but I think you catch up in minutes. Miss you!
Beautiful Restoration!!! That is genuinely a useful kitchen tool!. I might have painted the letters black or blue, so as to stand out against the white, but thats just me
An absurdly over-complicated solution to a simple problem: peeling a potato. In other words: I love it! It's also a beautiful piece of machinery, that I'd love to have in my own kitchen. We do have a modern version of that peeler, and while it's fun, it really does gouge out the apple/potato. Still: fun!
Google "starters apple peeler". This technology was already almost 75 years old when it was made. The first mass produced consumer mechanical goods were kitchen tools like these. Unless you count cauldron swivels and clod cutters for shoes. That was the 1600s in the uk.
Good restoration! But you'll need to do something about your sound for future visits, there's a high pitch coming through on audio, maybe from your lights or equipment?
6:15 Mister Patina working naked? Sounds like a familiar RU-vidr who does the same thing almost.. he throws eggs around too much. You know who I’m talking about. That crazy Australian named HowToBasic lol But hey, that’s good of Mister Patina to help you out. It’s a great restoration. Turned out excellent!
The first versions of thus were made in the 1850s, Mr starrett of starters tools fame fully funded his first factory by making food equipment like this. The infancy of the current habit of buying cheap crap and tossing it when it breaks was tools like these. Not that I wouldn't own one this old. Quality mattered still back then.
A potato-naked-making machine. Naked potatoes! Naked vegetables on youtube! Morality is lost! The end of the world is near! Now to be serious, nice restoration.
Awesome (restoration) no total rebirth of the product. Jawdropping attention to details as usual. A very minor concern of mine is the cover which you painted bright white, the text is a bit harder to read due to low contrast. I think the cover might look better off closer to the original like polished brass with paint stripped letters.
I never see a so hungry tool !!! I think you loose 1/3 of the potato that you peel using this item Too funny ! But you have done here a wonderful job .
I really cannot believe that you did not end this video with a review of a potato ale like Pühaste from Estonia. I can only imagine this minor oversight is due to the trauma of seeing Mister Patina au naturel.
just a thought, if any part is going to be near food, i recommend a food safe oil for hot bluing (olive oil is a good one due to it's high smoke point)
Wait, what ?? No kitchenaid for your girlfriend and no tricycle for your newborn nephew this time ??? 😁Hahahaha finally a gift for you and you deserved it ! 🤘
Als das Gussteil gebrochen ist, wären mir tolle neue Flüche eingefallen. Du hast das gut gemeistert. Das Vernickeln der Teile, die mit den Lebensmitteln in Kontakt kommen, ist eine gute Idee. Gruß Tino When the casting part broke, I would have thought of great new curses. You handled it well. Nickel plating the parts that come in contact with the food is a good idea. Greetings Tino
my great grand mom had one ,, i dont know where or when she got it, she kept it on a shelf and i remember looking at all of her "collectebles" i dont know who got them or where they went
First I click the "like" button, then I watch your videos. Also, your editing keeps getting better and better. Such bright lights and saturated colours could easily be too much, but you manage the right amounts and it looks great; great macros as well, and I love your detailed and clear explanations. Cheers!
Great video as always. One small note, the tool used for cutting the external threads on the new screw is a die. Tap is for internal or female threads, die is for external or male threads. Anyway, great job, can't wait for the next one.
Such a nifty device! Glad you got hold of it, and restored it with your amazing skills. It was a treat to watch; your editing indeed is from another world; the restoration result is - as always - impeccable!
@@NTRprojects Do as you wish, my experience is, that you want to unscrew it again, it takes a lot of force. And yes you are right, color ist nice. Prost!
I'm glad I saw this [I had been wondering about these -- and how they peeled just the skin off]. Thanks [I'll stick to my regular peeler]. Looks nice though..
Thank you for the question. I first prime before adding the putty, because even putty can cause rust, so there should be a protection beneath it. afterwards I prime it again. Wet sanding the 2nd layer is with very fine grit, so the primer doesnt come off, but the layer gets smoothend for a nice finish when painting. I hope this answers your question
@@NTRprojects it does thank you! So the whole time you're kinda rushing against more rusting so that's why the primer first just in case the item rusts while you sand it. It makes total sense now. Thank you so much! I love your channel and I love your restorations I am sure your channel will grow very big and I will be able to say "I knew him when he only had 20k subs" and then I will be the cool one. 😂 Lol
I like this one so much I had to watch again. That peeler is so pretty once you finished it. I also want to ask a question. Your files seem remarkably durable. Could you please let me know what kind I should look for? The only thing I have is a couple of chainsaw files and a few mill bastard. Can't seem to get much milage out of them. I appreciate it much doc. Kudos again for an outstanding restoration and wonderful channel! Looking forward to some new revives!!!
Some of the best gadgets are the older ones. I know someone who makes amazing apple dumplings for a local restaurant, and she still uses a peeler/slicer she inherited from her grandmother! Jam the apple on the corer and turn the crank, and the next thing you know you’ve got a cored, peeled, and spiral sliced apple ready to wrap up in pie crust and cinnamon.
Excellent work! Those poor tools fall into disuse too often. It's great to see one brought back to new condition. I was hoping you would repaint it blue!
This looks amazing! However, I would add one more touch - paint the letters black. This asks for some linework painting skills, but it would definitely look great on this piece.
Hello my brother Beer, every job you do I see great improvement in your skills, keep it up your my Favorite channel. Just a reminder to watch for a good canadian craft beer to test.
@@NTRprojects Theodore golden Griggs coined the term "taters" when he created tater tots in the early 1950s...I'm sure people in that area were using the nickname taters for some time before Griggs made it famous.
Hey my friend. Thank you once again for the review. this time there was no room for a patna piece so it actually looks like out of the box. I really enjoy looking at it
Really great restoration, nice paint job too. This would be really useful for people with bad mobility, my Mum's hands aren't able to do all she could in the kitchen anymore and potatoes and grating cheese are what she hates most.
Hey Ty. Its a picture I have in my head and I sort the parts in the beginning and sometimes change my mind. Also for the parts that are in direct contact with acidity, like from an apple, bluing is not protective enough. In fact bluing is a very weak rust protection, but its more forgiving in comparison to nickel plating
Sorry, but I cleaned it very proper afterwards! The "w" was also something new for me. Never ssen it written this way. I'm still not sure if this was normal back in the days or just a mistake in the press
