Hello everyone, for all of you who might be worried, I just want to say: I WILL NOT USE THIS FONT AGAIN :D. I chose it to emphasize the fairy tale theme. you also don't need to be worried that I will continue to expand my "poetry" on the channel in the future. I just wanted to do something fun & special for you for the start of the year. 👍
Nothing wrong with the poetry, the different style or the font. He who doesn't appreciate the artistic originality of this particular video needs a restoration of his own, which you may not be able to provide though.
Great work on this lock, but I think the gold leaf was a bit over the top. You did get it working again and overall the video was a pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing. 😁👍🇺🇸
Hey Paul, When I edited the video I also thought to myself "The cover looked really good when it was just nickel plated". But it was done already and like I said: My hope is, that the gold rubs off on the higher parts of the pitting and reveals a lot of the nickel plating finish. See you on the next one ?!
Okay, the Amazing Dr. Beer is at it again! Firstly, your videos are absolutely mesmerizing. The editing and attention to detail is a work in itself. Love the added twists, like the treasure chest which makes it fun. So creative. The restoration challenges are varied but you always have a solution. The plastic mold in another video for the coffee grinder was on a new level. Who thought you could bring this lock would come back to life? Bravo Dr. Beer. I am hooked. I will have to buy you a beer 🍺
I think the gold would've been fine if you had coated all the body parts, except the rivets of course. Just looked off with the gold AND black. @@NTRprojects
Once in a while a storry was told, Of a lock in in lake whichs was old. I listened with joy to this little story, and thought by myself "a keyway full glory".
That was really a joy to watch! I didn’t think that this lock would’ve come out that nice, since it was in a pretty horrible state before! The story telling is so out of the box, I really liked it 🙏🏼 thanks for sharing!
Daumen hoch für Deine Arbeit und das Video, zur Schriftart und Schriftdauer wurde ja alles schon geschrieben ;-) Bleibe auch 2022 gesund - ich lechze nach neuen Videos. Gruß Tino
Barely believable that that hunk of iron oxide could be turned into a functioning mechanism again. Doc, you are truly a miracle worker. Nice one and happy new year to you.
Wow bin Mal wieder Sprachlos wie all bei deinen Werken auf jeden Fall Daumen hoch da lasse Hammer gute Arbeit und dazu Hammer gute Aufnahmen plus mega Handwerk ❤️👍❤️
The font looks cool and I understand why you used it for the poetry but I think it would have been better if you kept the text a bit longer on the screen👍🏻
Hey Robert. Feedback accepted. So here is the deal. I wont use it again and you sub to check in if I keep my promise in the next video. And maybe you stay ;)
Wieder mal sehr schön gemacht 👍. Ich muss dich mal anschreiben damit ich Dir ein Fiege Pils schicken kann zum testen. Würd mich mal interessieren wie es dir schmeckt😊😉 LG Micha
Excellent video mate. I didn’t think I would be interested but yet again your attention to detail just keeps bringing me back. Happy New year to you too.
🎉. Nice work! You definitely locked the story in time! You should send your video to Lock Picking Lawyer! That lock has some great history to it, and you put it a tuxedo for its retirement years!!
@@NTRprojects I completely agree!!! The video he will enjoy. The lock you put ALOT of time and $ into making it work and look really nice again. Keep your work to enjoy for yourself! Its these kinds of things we all would love to get as a heirloom from our dad’s! Keep it and enjoy it!
I was thinking this lock would be toast, but with a bit of hard work, this one would be to boast. Lovely work Dr. Beer. Another nice restoration done here.
it really is a great feeling to read such a nice comment. it is so wonderful that you notice so many things i have been working on and trying to improve. best regards to ohio john
@@NTRprojects I understand that many people complained, and I also wonder how many people subscribed because of the comments!! This was an astounding restoration though, the best I have seen in a long time!!!!!
@@NTRprojects Don't worry, he only uses it for his extrememly short places like a "book title" since it is a "display" font. If you have many words in the "body" text like a book and you want people to easily read it then you should use a "serif" or "sans serif" font. Lastly there is "script" for fancy short sentences used in wedding invitations and formal events. Know your 4 font types and you will be well on your way.
I realize that Dr. Beer addressed it, but this video was sensory overload with trying to read both things at time. Lol. My eyes were darting all over the place.
@NTRprojects Hey, you tried something new out. I've watched entire restoration channels where everything is formulaic and the same, and I'd say trying different things and doing different things like the beer tasting sets you apart from others. It was just sort of hard to keep track of both commentaries. And who cares now? It was years ago, you learned from it, and are better off for trying something different.
Nice one Doc, this video is going to be a hit. Saving a padlock that is completely.... Going to be hard work, but ultimately satisfying for all that watch. Keep up the good work.
Very nice work! I would not have thought it possible to restore that lock. I was impressed with the poetry! I lived in Germany for many years when I was young and learned German well; and it gave me an appreciation for how difficult English is by comparison. To write poetry in English is impressive! Also, that beer... we had Tucher in the Hunsrück too. But I preferred the Pilsner. Most often we had Königsbacher locally. Very good though. Thank you for your videos. Always a pleasure to watch.
I was ready to burst when you about to fill the rust again lol. I wonder how long it must've been in the water to be in that condition. Really great work once again! Happy new year dr beer. Wishing you all the the great things this year. Have a good one!
Hey Anisa, I wish you also a very happy new year. I really think it must have been for more than 50 years under water. Since it really was becoming a stone 😁
Now this is beyond restoration, this is pure art. Thank you, sir, for this masterpiece. I am truly astounded and moved buy your techniques and result at the same time. Poetry, on the other hand... is ok =)
Loved seeing the lock brought back to life. I have a question about the beer reviews. In the US most beers are served cold, and I understand that in Europe most are served room temperature. My question is do you ever drink certain beers chilled, and does it affect the flavor much?
Chapter 12… And there among the appraising crowd stood a woman who badly needed a sign that angels of peace and war were watching over her beloved Knight and that she could find a fairy godmother to heal her father and fight off the evil sister-in-law having almost brought him to his death. A fairy godmother there might not be, but here between a pot of gold and a red beer, she saw a fairy smith. Could this Nibelung offspring be the Irish Goibniu in disguise?” Thank you for the moment of relative solace watching your great contribution.
A great restoration with retention of the patina caused by rusting. Personally, I would not have used gold leaf or gold paint, but would have left it nickel plated. But of course, that's a matter of taste.
I showed the old padlock to my granddaughter (10) and wanted to show her immediately the renovated result. But she wanted to see the process. Her brothers (8 and 5) came to us and all three watched fascinated the video and were very very impressed. Just like me. Wonderful!
Nah sorry this one I didn't like, the original lock had character and a story to tell, the restoration, IMO looks like a cheap Chinese lock the gold was too much, anyway was interesting to watch.
To fill the pits caused by rust, copper plate the piece. Polish off the copper until the bare metal remains. The pits will be filled by copper. It's a technique used by auto restorers to rechrome irreplaceable auto trim parts.
Happy New Year To Herr Doktor Beer I'm disappointed a Nurnburger beer didn't score higher as I've actually been there at least twice, but I was too young to sample their beers. Nice restoration, I never thought you would do it when I first saw the padlock. Well done, nice to read your rhyming couplets too!
@@-Deena. it wasn't Google translated but I had to find words that rhyme and this way I chose words that translate good in German but maybe not at all work in the context in English :D could you be so kind and give me an example?
@@NTRprojects Whelp got me :) A whelp is a dog giving birth to puppies 'She whelped six puppies' for example... or an impolite term to describe a little vulgar person! I have not see a dog giving birth smiling. Haha. Mind you my translation into German would be hilarious to every German speaking national! x ❤
Nicely done! You worked a lot of neat components there - almost lost my supper when you started pouring the dirt back into the lock! 😂 Extra points for Japaning (I think @Hand Tool Rescue will appreciate this) and also for gold leafed, nick plated, tinned pitted metal plates! I never realized you could plate on solder - that is pretty cool. Great video!
