I give you guys a 5-star rating just for not getting caught by security. Far too many people have been busted while making videos, so I applaud your successful adventure! Excellent video!! Enjoyed it very much!
Why would it be such a big deal to go in there? not everybody is so happy. I would go in there and if I hurt myself too bad I wouldn't see anybody. I should be allowed to go in there and take as many pictures as I want to. it's a free country.
At 15:23 that's one of the ice cream cones from Barbe's shop. Sadly, that clown giant head was destroyed a few years ago. You can see what's left of it at 28:52.
I’m in ATL, so I frequent six flags ga ALOT!!! I don’t ride anything, I just enjoy people watching bc I can’t ride anymore n I now use my electric wheelchair. I love visiting different parks bc my daughter, son n & dil are adrenaline thrill ride junkies, so I’m always up to flying off to a park. Your video was great, you’re brave, my fear of snakes, gators n jail would keep me out😂 It will never reopen as a theme park, but those kids in that area need something to do, all they have is a skate board park that someone started. The city needs to invest in the east side, maybe that will deter teen crime
Same for me. We live in Atlanta and go to SixFlags over Georgia a lot. The police was the only thing I was scared of lol. Didnt wanna get arrested haha. Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
8:03 - It's a shame they didn't salvage some of these rides before they were too far gone, especially this rare Schwarzie Polyp variation, _The Joker's Jukebox!_ From what I've seen and read about, there's only two other rides of this particular iteration in existence...Those are both named _The Jukebox -_ one at Nigloland Park in Dolancourt, France, and the other at Liseberg Park, in Göthenburg, Sweden... Thankfully, both of those _ARE_ still operating!
You got seriously lucky to not get caught here, lots of walking in the main streets in the open, let alone putting the drone up. Security were watching the game in their cars most likely.
been to this park before the hurricane 😢. I appreciate my six flags here outside of chicago so much since I see how this park been looking for almost 20 years 😢
I think it’s crazy how vibrant some of the paint has stayed. It’s also crazy and sad to see how much was uprooted and changed in such little time. The documentary “closed for storm” was so insightful. I hope whatever they turn this into flourishes, it’d be cool if they took some of the pieces left behind for like an exhibit or in a museum or even like at whatever they build next but roped off so people can just take pictures and reminisce.
That's some great footage of a bygone park, proving how much nature has taken it over. It makes me wonder what this park would look like today if Katrina didn't hit.
Great video! I've been fascinated with this park for years. It seems down to the bare minimum at this point. Not too much to see anymore, but still fascinating!!
Christina 100%. Go in there. I did not film it, but definitely. Maybe a few snakes. Gators please. Go there, do not let those donut eating 3rd rate police stop you
Cool video! I live about 25 miles from the old park. My brother in law was maintenance manager there. Me and my sister we t all the time. It was really good for New Orleans. Idk why they never actually went through with anything else again. Probably due to the swamp it's in! Thanks again! 😊
The swamp and money I think. I don't think they made a lot of money at the park and after Katrina I think it would have been worse with less people being there is my guess. I rushed out here last April on Easter to make this video because I thought it was going to be taken down by the end of last year... Still standing when we came last month for Mardi Gras lol.
The Closed For Storm documentary was done by Jake at Bright Sun Films, along with Dan Bell. Its fantastic. I paid a fortune for the dvd to get it imported to the UK via Amazon but it was well worth it
Thank you for doing the video and thanks to your friend for doing the drone footage. There are many videos out there about this park but none of them tour the whole park and look at what was where, like you guys did. I'm from Australia, so this gave me a really good feel of what the park would've been like in it's hay day but also a good look at the state that it's in now. It's a shame that so many people have vandalised it, although you were right about some of the rides. I'm surprised so many were just left sitting there.
One of the rail car rides was John Lafitte virtual ride...so cool. I think after it turned to six flags it went to sponge bob or something like that. The Pontchartrain beach was also a park like six flags a long time ago. It was open from 1928 to 1983. I also went to that park. Not in 1928 but in the early 80's lol
Ahh that would make sense. I wish I would have went inside the SpongeBob ride. I sadly didn't but it was a big VR type ride. I want to go back and try to explore more lol.
Went to Six Flags Great America in Gurnee with my niece and nephew - had a blast (they were more well behaved than my brother who was afraid of heights and disappeared while we were on rollercoasters and such). Thanks for taking the risk of being busted for trespassing and making this video - it takes a lot to take such a chance! 🤗🤗👏👏
I HOPE THEY TURN IT INTO A ZOO WHERE KIDS COULD HAVE SO MUCH FUN AND I THINK THAT WAS THE SPRINKLER AREA WHERE THAT COOL ZONE WILL SPLASH YOU WHEN IN THE SUMMER TIME IN HOT WEATHER SCHOOL SHOOTING LOL DUCKS ARE QUACKING
Hi from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦. Really enjoyed your video of this dump. I find it quite fascinating. Doesn't look like much has changed. Hurricane Ida did some damage to the park. The white building up you guys were looking at. They can say about redevelopment but I don't think so, it's a swamp. Anyhow, great explore, really enjoyed it.
If they did a new Amusement park they would want to out in a new pumping station to keep the park dry and have back Generators to keep them going if the park lost power 6 flags never thought about that
So y’all went in on Easter Sunday? Did I hear that right? I’m local here , and used to have a season pass when it was open ( I was 16😂) and I really want to try and get in before they tear it down. Any tips are appreciated. I can’t get over how easy y’all made this look 😂😂 GREAT JOB!!!
Hey! Yeah, we came from Atlanta on the day before Easter to get in here on Easter Sunday. I had season passes for years in Georgia, we must be the same age almost. I would recommend having someone drop you off like we did. If you get dropped off at the sign, just run down till the end and try your best to avoid the trail camera that we showed at the start of the video. We walked by it, not 100% sure if it worked or not but no one ever showed up... granted I dont think they were working since it was a holiday. It was well worth it though and if you were just recording a video or taking photos the security will just escort you off the property. I would try to go on Easter this year if I was you lol. I bet they will have extra security the next few weeks since Mardi Gras is going on. We are coming down the 11th for Mardi Gras! :)
You can do it bro! Just follow the path I took (have someone drop you off) and you should be able to get in. Also stay close to the buildings. If your just filming and not caught with paint cans or anything, they would just let you go or escort you off the property.
Fourth video I've watched of people exploring this park but not going up to the Mega Zeph roller coaster! Why? Yes, it is a wood coaster. Roller coasters are wood or steel depending on the makeup of it's track bed.
I wanted to but the entrance to it was very, very overgrown and almost in a swamp from recent rain. Same for the other big, green coster, the Jester I think it was called. Very overgrown and would of needed a knife to cut through the brush.
City of New Orleans should have offered tours through the remains of the park. I bet a lot people would have been willing to pay a few bucks to check it out. The city could have made some money or at least help cover the cost of security. Between the history of the park and the movies filmed there it would be interesting.
The SpongeBob ride was like a 4D movie type of thing. I rode it when was still a Jean Lafitte pirate ride. I almost rode it after they turned it into SpongeBob but it was storming really bad that day and my cousin was scared so instead of staying inside the building in the line for the ride we went out of a side exit into the rain. Idk how that makes any sense when you’re scared of the weather but that’s what happened 💀
@@BigCVlogs you can find a hidden six flags fright fest video of this park it was in the looney tunes area you will see some places u passed by just let me tell u the name
New Orleans is a swamp.. I’m from here . Six flags is located in a Area called “michoud” michoud is surrounded around swamps. Do your research on an area named michoud in New Orleans
It would cost the city about 20 million to do it I believe. So the city is hoping a development company will buy the land and pay that to put whatever they want there. They have a plan in place currently...if it doesn't fall through... again. (Like it has the past 5 or 6 times lol)
WOW GOOD NATURAL DISASTER IT WAS A HURRICANE DA BEST NATURAL DISASTER OUT OF DROUGHTS EARTHQUAKES AND TSUNAMIS AND TORNADOES ONE NATURAL DISASTER THERE WAS ALSO LOL THERE WAS A FLOOD
Proof police are so stupid. You are awesome. Do not let the lies of alligators in the park stop you. DO IT. NEVER SAY I OBEY TO GOVERNMENT BECAUSE IT LIES.
Nah bro Dey really have alligators . I’m from here. Six flags is a park that’s located in a area called Michoud.. michoud is surrounded around swamps .
