Many of you asked for videos helping to use colour analysis references… I find many are still being soooo technical with what references may be labelled with - I say who cares what a colour analysis reference is named (care about mapping to undertone, value and intensity scale or colour dimensions are most important imo). I also find many feel called to be so technical when using their colour analysis references… hope this video helps! Here is another colour analysis reference video I did talking about different colours being in references:
• No Need to be So Techn... 💕🎨⭐️

This is great information. When I got my results, I was so unfamiliar with my palette that I took my swatches every time I went shopping, and was super rigid on exact matching. I'm more comfortable and relaxed now, and find it easy to spot what I'm looking for. One thing I do is to look at what I'm wearing and see if the other color "goes" with it - is it in harmony? Have I bought out of palette occasionally? Yup. But not often, and it's still warm, and close enough, so it's OK. Another easy thing is to try the item on and look in the mirror. Do I see me or the item? Dead give away. I have also noticed that in my before photos where I am wearing the wrong color, my eyes sort of disappear. They just look like dark spots when I smile. If the store lighting is poor or confusing, I will take a selfie, and if my eyes are not sparking, it's the wrong color. I'm having a lot more fun with things now.

Thank you making this video. I think I’m obsessing too much and getting too technical at times.

Well said and I think needs to be said to take the criticalness out of colour analysis and put the joy back in of having a good guide towards colours that look good enough and that you love. Thank you Carol

Hi Carol! You analyzed me as a bright Spring so I bought the Spring color swatches but then later also bought the Bright color swatches but I am not sure which color swatches to use for shopping (I love the Spring palette by the way and was thrilled that I wasn’t a Bright winter (that someone else analyzed me as being) also big thank you for that ❤

Hi Lorry: for handheld references you would use the Bright wallet with Spring add-on card (see bottom of Colour Analysis Kits page on my site). Given you already have Spring wallet (not sure)… I would focus on the Bright wallet and use the Spring wallet like I used the Summer add-on to Muted in this video. Hope this helps!

@@carolbraileythank you ! I do have both a Spring wallet and Bright wallet - should I now buy a Spring add on or is that the same as a Spring wallet?

@@LorryHillI would just use ur Spring wallet like the add-on card used in this video. The Spring wallet is for a True Spring and your colouring is not that… your best colours are in Bright wallet 💕⭐️🎨

I love this video. I find for me as a True Winter that blues and reds (as long as they aren’t soft) are more forgiving IF I must to go out of my season. I can’t compromise with any other colors at all.

The only thing I don't understand is that true summers have a range from pastels to darker colours like you said in the beginning, but then later you say about a soft blue that it is too dark. How does that work? Is that just trying for yourself? Or do we use pastels and darker colours as layers and the medium colours as main colours or something? Something i really stuggle with...

My advice would be to ignore the words and focus on comparing to the colour analysis references as per this video… how to pull together outfits etc is really a style analysis thing (different topic) eg layering may not work for someone’s styling and/or personality style 💕🎨⭐️

@@carolbrailey ah I think I misunderstood. The blue in the video is an example, in the true summer palette are darker blues and so if I take the fan with me I go with that. Maybe it is because the references are all different in different systems and I once had a paper fan with true summer colours with pastels that really were to light for me. But I didn’t understand that back then and thought that everything in that fan would suit me because it was a summer fan. Anyway, thank you for your reply, I love your content😊😊

@@tessaspanjersberg8057I don’t think you got it. It sounds like you’re in the wrong season or have some swatches that aren’t really true summer

@@notblondeswede haha i’m not. Confirmed twice. But how would you answer the question? That summer blues can be lighter or darker? And that different systems have different references? In the colour wallet on Carols I see very dark colours in the summer wallet. Maybe that’s my computer showing then a bit darker but still. That’s why I asked. But I think she tried to just show 1 example and how to compare when you are in a store.

@@tessaspanjersberg8057 Okay I think I understand. In the system that Carol uses true summer blues might be different from another analysts. So you could have gotten analyzed by someone who has other blues in their system for true summer. In carol's system true summer colors are more smoky. Really pale colors are reserved for the light pallette in Carols system. You can go to her website or any of her videos, and look at her true summer pallette
