That is stunning, I had a silver one, E reg, the most fun amazing car I’ve owned, the registration was E30 MYM, I did a MOT checker search last year and it’s still about 😳 I owned it 25yrs ago lol
Askmid is a good site too. Have you guys heard of how many left? A site to find out how many cars if different vehicles are currently still taxed and not SORN
Fuzz and his team do a cracking job tho Tim is a waste of space. Not like those fly by nights wheeler dealers, those two idiots were just downright dangerous, total bodge jobs, they should of called their program "60 minute car make over"
Brings me back to when I was 22 years old and had the 11 turbo and very few of them were about, I took all the badges off and went out to blow of the then famous xr3i, they never had a chance lol
While we're in the "had one" mood....I used to run 9 turbo...ugly but fast as poop!!!! Outstripped a mate's Fiat uno turbo ie one night round climber park... 35 yrs ago....really????
I couldn’t of left that sat untouched and parked up like I’d of had it washed polished at least once a week and out atleast once a week it’s a dream car
Had this model in red ( E reg ) in my youth and can honestly say, it was probably the best car I’ve ever owned for putting a smile on ya face. I’ve had in my 35 years of driving...205 and 309 GTi’s, Nova GTE, Astra SXi and GTE 16v, Cavalier GSi 16v 4x4, Calibra 16v, pug 405 mi 16v, Audi TT 225 convertable, Renault Megan 225 and a Clio RS to name a few. Mi mate at the time when I owned it, had a Porsche 911 Carrera ( C reg ) and when we were out and about, especially up on the moors if we went for blast, I’d be stuck on his arse like a limpet, could never shake me off, that’s how good this little beauty was.....happy days and boy do I miss it....drive a diesel now 😆.
I remember that episode! The lad had caught a right nasty bug from his job clearing out houses. The car, Fuzz and his team never feck about and do a quality job! Just surprised the owner sold it tbh.
Yeah I remember that episode, it was a completely factory standard rebuild if I remember right? The lad had a garage full of spares for it, but suppose you never know people's circumstances though! 🤔
Lovely car. Drove one of these back in days 1998. On my holidays from London to France, Spain Portugal , Morocco around atlas mountains south Morocco until the border with Mauritania and back to London. Where I used it only between the train station and home then it got stolen outside the station and never recovered☹😡👹😭😭
This is the trouble with cars that have been rebuilt by car renovation programs. A big majority of people get 'informed' after the show, exactly how such an example COULD be worth, and quite rightly, they get scared, and ultimately sell it on for a nice price. Great video mate, and with such a genuine article too! 👍🍻🍻
I knew that was another GT Turbo under the tarp. If you pause @10:19, you can see the bottom of the bumper skirt is the exact same, same square spotlight and also the rear of the car is that classic Renault 5 shape. 👍
Alright Grant? I was wondering if you could do a video on how to spray a panel with rattle cans and how best to match up the paint. Also why a rattle can finish would never be as a gun finish. Cheers, Nav
I remember having 2 back in the early 90’s...showing my age now cough cough 86 plate phase 1 and 89 plate phase 2 which was F780JCH.....I can remember Renaults logo More smiles per mile!and it definitely was! God I wish I had kept them🤦♂️
mikefranky if I had a r5 gtt I’d keep it and drive it. Maybe a map to 175hp so a safe ish remap with all other parts changed if need be. I’ve driven one of these before. They feel like they are going very fast cos of their petit size and power to weight ratio being so high! Great motor, what a motor! I’d love to own one one day
Ben Rogers ......If I remember correctly they were roughly 120hp and you get roughly 150-160 Hp by fitting bleed valve a bit crude method but it worked The intercoolers were weak in them as the sides would blow with the increase pressure so you would have the strapped or put an all alloy one on them....happy memories 👍 My mate had the blue raider model hate to think what they are worth now
So gave some old tripe to get it fixed up on the telly only to sell it , didn't mean that much to him to deserve a restoration by fuzz, he should be ashamed. At least it's getting love now
I don’t think he was well enough to use it tbh and it just sat there he’s mate put it up for sale and he sold it to my mate for what it cost him 12k 2k for the car and 10k in parts apparently 👍
Take your post down you complete tool, you're the one who should be ashamed for posting such a dickhead comment. His illness was genuine and sadly he sold the car 2 years after the show, because of his kidney issue, a car which he truly loved and wanted someone to drive and enjoy it.
I was going to message you grant to see if you could track down the car for Ben's last trip, but seen your friend has since sold it in another comment. Thank you for the comments in your chat on correcting people on Ben's Condition.
@@grantssmartrepairs I was fearing the worst, I thought he had died or something . The boy looked like he was having a hard time of it and I can remember his mrs saying it's only going to get worse. Glad that's not the case. No point in having it if it's not getting driven. I planned to tax and take my Raider out this weekend but Corona spoiled that. Good luck with the rebuild mate
Yeah I believe the other lad is doing ok and my mate who brought this just didn’t want to use it which I can understand so he sold it in a auction just about got his money back and went out and got another one he could drive and put his stamp on
@@benrogersdevon sorry forgot UK registration crossed over the years . Just my dad bought an E reg nissan Bluebird and it was re registered in IRL and it had 88 on it :)
Mark Devlin that’s fine mate. The E reg. came out in 87 and went into 88 quite far. Trivia: the old E reg. when the last letter of the plate was the registration prefix....old E reg. was 1967 iirc
SALVAGE FLIPPERS you remember the black one on that tv program ? They had white suits on looking at , that’s a mates it’s absolutely beautiful 100% the best example in the country is in Essex It’s flawless Was very jealous 😂
Sorry grant, you "sound" like a nice geezer, however you " look" like the type of geezer who stands out side a nightclub who says " if your name ain't on the list pal, you ain't f****Ng getting in 😁
