Full on boat building jobs over the past few months. Adding some finer detail to the Catamaran Transom and seeing her final look is a great result.
This RU-vid build series is all about what it takes to build a Catamaran from Scratch. There is so much detail in a build of this size and so many different techniques involved in bringing her to fruition. I trust you will find something that may help with your current or future project, repair or dream boat build.

Dear Rosco and Janet You guys always crack me up. Your sense of humour is as as indefatigable as your work ethic. I do also enjoy Tally Ho. I mean who could not be attracted to those big bits of wood being cut and shaped....... so beautiful. My "Romance with Wood" ended in my mid twenties which was a very long time ago. I think that the skill of building with composite materials is generally underappreciated by the complacent crowd but I think it's amazing and I think you are amazing. Love from The Bahamas

There are of course dozens of nautical terms used only on boats and there is a reason for it. It is not for sailors to feel special or have a secret language but to save lives. Seconds count in an emergency so shouting at sailors probably in a midst of a storm to grab that rope prompts the question which rope there are a dozen to choose from hence they have their own names or sub categories like lines halyards etc etc. The reason I mention this is when you brought up Port and Starboard. Now I remember this as left and port have 4 letters so Starboard is right. However I always wondered why I mean everyone knows your left from your right but I was shown the answer. On a cruise for newbies the Captain described the terms pointing out whilst facing forward what was port and Starboard. He then did a 180 and pointed out Port and Starboard again which obviously did not change, Because Port actually does not mean left it means the left side of the ship facing forwards which takes it back to the historical means f saving seconds which cab save lives.

@LifeOnTheHulls Год назад
Great points and in the heat of battle (aka laminating in 35 degree heat) I couldn't differentiate the port and starboard so proves your very point.Saves lives and perhaps my marriage at that point.Cant deny it, my skipper Janet knows her stuff .Rossco

Rossco those stainless plates the guy welding those could possibly build them up to fit the pipes when he tigs it
@johnhodges8185
@johnhodges8185 Год назад
Hi Ross I don't know how far we are behind real time but I can cut you 4 prefect 316 Stainless flanges for the cost of one of the ones you purchased . Those ones are for pipe sizes not tube, that's what they are too large inside and too thick and heavy for what you need. I'm in Sydney
@LifeOnTheHulls
@LifeOnTheHulls Год назад
John.Thanks for the message.I have since sorted the Flanges but cannot find someone to make me a couple of chain plates for the side of the hull.I am looking at 2 pieces of 316 10mm thick about the size if an a4 sheet of paper is that something I could pay you to do?They will hold the shrouds with about 5 holes in them to bolt through the hull walls.The Lightwave Cat has these on their hull side and are perfect for purpose.Ross

Ross, Was wondering if the emergency liferaft is vulnerable to theft being so easily accessed from water by anyone passing by in a boat while tender is away from catamaran.. Would creating an extended or bumped outward hatch cover over raft capsule be an option if the release mechanisms are on inside of bench seats lip so as to be less visible from outside but easily released by releasing a recessed latch or pin ? Something simple to release in an emergency ? Concealing it in enclosed sealed space may extend lifespan too by avoiding UV and salt water exposure... The boat's name might fit on the hatch if it's named Janet or a similarly short appellation ! he he...
