The Tamil Nadu government owns all of TNPFC. Registered as a Non-Banking Finance Company categorised as a hire purchase finance company. It raises money using several deposit schemes. It provides funding to Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd. and financial assistance for infrastructure and power projects. The Corporation has been profitable ever since it was founded. For the fiscal year 2017-2018, a dividend at a rate of 30% of profit after taxes was issued. They follow the RBI's guidelines for their deposit plans. It should be noted that neither the application form nor the website clearly states that the TN Government is guaranteeing these FDs.
