Hi Guys, today we are looking at a way to detangle your wigs forever. My wig sisters were always asking for ways to detangle a wig. I had a few beginner wig hacks but I found the most amazing wig tip! This synthetic wig hack came from a fellow RU-vidr, Zuzu's Life. I must give all the credit to her for this one! My hair stylist reminded me of this trick when I last saw her. Except she twists the gathered strands then uses the thinning shears. It keeps from having a straight line across the back.

I just watched that other video and now watching this one. I'd never seen anything like this, I'm definitely gonna try it. I'm new to wigs, I usually wear extentions and some of them tangle pretty bad too, even my human hair extentions. Even the expensive ones tangle on me for some reason. So I'm gonna try this on both my wigs and my extentions. TYSMFS! (I know this video is older, but I'm just now watching) lots of love and God bless

Ive done it and YES Thinning shears work wonders on curly wigs and fibers that knot up easily. I especially focus n the under side at the nape of the neck....especially if I don't want to change the front of my wig at all....

Great video. Thank you. I'm new to wig wearing and one of my (very) long wigs has a 180% density. I've thinned some of the top part of it so it's not so heavy around my face but the bottom part is curly/wavy, really thick and heavy and tangles badly. I have got thinning scissors so I will try this. I'm really using this wig to practice on (it's a cheap Amazon wig) so if I mess it up, I can just get another.

Hiya! Love you vids, thank you!!! I have a shoulder-length wig parted on one side, and the other side is a little too full. (smooth on top, waves start 1/2 way down.) Looks helmet-y on that side. Shampoo and conditioner you can use a gentle baby shampoo and fabric softener if you do t have synthetic wig ones otherwise Amazon is a great place I am not sure what you have access to there. You can do it on as much as you need to just keep in mind it will thin the wig some as well. So the more you cut the thinner the will will end up being.

Hi! I just got a wig and can i ask if i can do lesser chunks every partings of the wig's hair? my wig is kinda pretty long and has thick volume and i wanna make it easy to detangle cause its so stressful but also dont wanna make t drastically thin. like for example, instead of biting (?) the shearing scissors for 4 times in a set of hair strand, can i do like 2 or 3, or even do 4 on one group of strands and then make like 2 on the other group of strands and you know just randomly shearing the hair? will it be alright or it should be the same number of shear cut for the whole wig's hair?

You can thin it out however you like.! You can definitely do more is some areas and less in some.

Make sure to twist the sections as that makes it much easier to thin out the sections. This is a basic technique to decrease the density.

Jesse, is there a way to wash a wig head? It seems to pick up odors from unwashed wigs. Mine is exactly like yours. Idk if it’s made of cork or styrofoam.

Febreze and then let it sit outside for a day. Then you can wrap it with Saran Wrap. That will keep it from collecting any new smells if you want to prevent it from happening again. You can put your wig cap right over the wrap and then use it like you have been.

Does it keep your wig from tangling in the nape while you’re actually wearing it? I have this major issue when I wear a wig all day it continues to tangle in the back nape area. Drives me crazy this is with human hair wigs. That’s pretty much all I wear. I’m definitely going to try this technique. Thanks so much for your help

If you want to get out some bulk and help detangling but not add layers just do it on the bottom half of the wig not the crown area or upper layers.

But what do you do with extra long haired wigs you don’t want ratty ends on? I have a few really gorgeous 30” wigs and I like them because they look like healthy thick hair, if I were to thin them they would look sad at the ends (which are already thinned out to look more natural) Would taking a weft out help?

You can remove a weft but that won’t solve the all one length issues which is what causes most of the tangling in synthetic wigs.

Usually the density of the wig would be on the page where you brought it. Some companies put them up some don't. If you ever want to know I would definitely email their support and ask. It's worth the wait! Get as much info you can about the wig before you buy!

It will usually be listed on the website that you buy it from or you can look up the brand/style name if you have that online and it is usually pretty easy to find. 😊

I recommend twisting the hair sections when you do this especially on a straight wig and I never do the top layer I pull that all up and start thinning all the bottom layers. 😊

All you’re doing is thinning it. How is that supposed to stop the tangles?

It helps break up the length more like human hair would have different lengths and helps prevent tangling since it’s not all same long length strands.
