I've been working on diesels for about 10 years now but I haven't gotten to work on any detroits so I've never seen this test. This is a great idea, I could definitely apply this to other engines with unit injectors.
A longer-than-normal start may be a fuel supply issue. I recommend inspecting fuel lines for signs of leaking or fuel seepage. If nothing is found, then replace the fuel filter and ensure proper sealing. If the issue persists, the engine needs troubleshooting for fuel prime loss.
I have Detroit series 60 14.0 engine be overhaul i put new remanufacture injector and now i have miss fire every time I release gas pedal sometimes white smoke
i have a 1999 freightliner with 12.7 detroit series 60 getting alot of fuel in crankcase oil getting worst i,m thinking injector seals what do you think put 6 remans in it about 8 years ago ?
Can a bad injector o ring cause fuel to get into your oil and the Mpgs and power be normal? The injectors are fairly new, so im curious if i can do the same and just do a ring kit on the bad injector.

Now I have a 60 series good engine but lately when I stop on a red light truck seems like it wants to turn off on me , does it for like about 2-5 seconds when I come even on empty from a long drive it dos not do it when Iam loaded . I change fuel filter which was really dirty( black) I cut in half the fuel filter to see. My friend told me to try seafoam to see. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND? THANK YOU/GRACIAS

We got 12.7 60 no one can Figure out.why it back fires. We tried a different ecm & lost all power,turbo psi was not past10. Put the old one back on,got my power back turbo psi 30. Now the ecm that had no power,no turbo psi it did not back fire. Any suggestions?
I rebuilt my Detroit 60 14 L I’ve been having and injector number 3 problems I replaced them three times all brand new injectors New ECM new wiring harness and still having that problem
Robinson, 60 series parts are no longer as reliable as before. We have had bad heads, injectors, and reman fuel pumps. The manufacturers have stopped producing the parts. Be sure to subcribe to the channel. 👍🏼🚚💪🏼

I'm glad this time is being fixed with three new injectors to sell this truck. I went from owner op to company driver and finally seeing money in my bank. Should've sold my truck years ago.
Thanks for your videos. I have 1996 Detroit serie 60 12.7 glider kit. When I turn ignition on is no voltage to injector wires , non of them , truck not starts! Any idee please. Should it be voltage there right?
I have an 05 F/L with a 60 series that will crank and not run. I have replaced the Cam and crank sensors. It appears to be getting fuel flow back to the tank, but not very much. I put a voltmeter on the injectors while cranking, and am getting .005 VDC. What am I missing? Thanks.

Hi have 09 westernstar with a 60 series 14 liter ddec 6 engine. Replaced engine from a freightliner columbia, but after engine was installed it wouldn't start unless I used ether. After engine is running there is no smoke, but engine won't hold prime. When I shut engine off it won't start back, could this be injector problem. Changed fuel regulator, fuel pump, fuel lines and fuel filter housing
2009 Freightliner with a Detroit 60 series 14 L, I have done air pressure test, truck is not loosing air at all holding 80 psi my truck sputtering and higher gears and losing prime when it sits for more than two days I have replaced all the o rings on injector’s 5 months ago, new check valve, eliminated the water separator, was sucking air, I just replaced fuel mechanical pump new camshaft, installed all new rebuild rockets, ran overhead, new fuel filter new air filter, no engine codes, truck still doing same thing, I was told to pull all injectors out and do a air pressure test on each injector and see if the tips hold air if they don’t there bad? Any help will be appreciated thank you so so much.
have one engine fuel in radiator suggestions. to me looks like pulling cups out probably use same technique as pulling cups of a 6.0 power stroke tread into top of cup or bottom of cup what do you think ? I don't believe in pulling head of what do you think?
Thanks for a great video. I have a 2007 Coronado with d60. When starting cold it blows a lot of white smoke for a couple of min. It also sometimes loose some power when pulling. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Interesting way to find bad o-rings on injectors. My question is why did you replace the camshaft if it showed no visible signs of damage? Another way to find a bad injector o-ring is to pull off the exhaust manifold. You will definitely see a difference in the soot pattern inside the head exhaust port of the cylinder or cylinders with the leaking injectors.

I think this is my problem. Truck runs fine until I start pulling a hill and more so when I'm heavy. It starts breaking up like it's not getting fuel. After I feather the pedal for about 30 seconds it returns to normal. Could the o rings be the culprit?
I figured it out today, after a few month long issue… it ended up being the pick up tube it had some debris in it. We just pushed air from the filter housing to the tanks and heard it shoot out.
I have a 2009 freightliner Columbia. My truck doesn't require Def but it does regen. I am running locally doing shuttle service. My truck is requiring daily regen. Is this normal??

Thanks for watching. Are they new or reman? We have a lot of issues with reman. Also check return lines for restrictions. How do you know the injectors are leaking?

Great video. I have one question. What did you say about 90 degree when torquing the hold down bolt for second step. Can you please explain that. I have 2009 Detroit Diesel series 60 in cold weather it starts very rough it spits and sputters for little bit and alot of white smoke, and after warming up it's fine. I m suspecting a bad injector. Sometime while idling it gets a little rough after giving it some power it becomes smooth.
hello and thanks for watching, 90 DEGREES is the final torque. Do you have any codes? If not, you could try this test along with dye to find leak. I would also recommend a oil analyst to verify if you have an internal leak

My dd 12.7 was making oil and had about 30% fuel dissolution so I had the injector rings all changed and it’s been about two months. But recently my low oil pressure shutdown sensor activated and derating the truck.. the mechanic never changed the hold down bolts…? Should I put the die in the fuel separator and black light it or pressure test it first?
I do have a question... 2000 Frieghtliner classic xl with a 99 series 60 12.7 So a Frieghtliner Dealership found cylinder 6 getting hot before the rest of the motor... said that the injectors were extremely to tight. recommended replacing all 6 injectors... so we did.. my question is... When you replace all 6 injectors do you have to recalibrate the ECM to the new injectors?

Dexter Williams a wiring harness could cause a miss, are you getting any check engine lights? If not, inspect fuel lines for leaks, replace fuel filter and retest.

I have 2006 60 series 12.7 and it has a miss at 12 to 1300 rpm on light acceleration other than that runs great at all other rpm? Seems to miss less at that rpm if full acceleration? Any opinion
Have a 12.7 losing prime and brand new injectors brand new check valve . The filter canister was low new check valve on that, too feel the canister start and shots of, but after cracking for a bit, it start
We have a 1995 Detroit 60 series in a Pierce fire truck that is getting worst. The truck will run sometimes cold, but when leavining the scene or just starting down the road it will blow white smoke and bog up hills until it dies. Full throttle does not help nor does half throttle. We made it to the scene today but almost did not make it back. We are a volunteer fire company so we are not very well off and would like to do the work ourselves. Injectors are on the outside of the engine on the driverside.. Any help would be appreciated.
A little over kill. You realize you can use a voltmeter on ac. Check for low voltage. Injector should have roughly 100 volts. You literally just wasted the customer money.
This is what I don't get about deisel shops in general... The truck originally came in for a cam repair. How come a injector problem wasn't noticed until after I spent thousands of dollars on the cam repair? Did I even need to repair the cam in the first place? Surely, their was a code for the injectors before the cam was repaired. It seems like a scam to me.

I’ve got a 14 L In a Cascadia right now that’s running on three cylinders or it seems to be. scan tool is not pulling data from the ECM ECM has been replaced I’ve took apart all the wiring from the ECM to the injectors and everything looks fine kind of stumped on it. No codes no check engine light I don’t even think the check engine light goes through it’s test cycle when you turn the switch on. It won’t let me do a cut out test or anything?? Looks like I’ll be digging into some more wiring tomorrow.
I have one inyector # 6 give me a problem is dripping diesel everything the other 5 works very good but the # 6 is giving me that problem it doesn’t matter if new still fill out with diesel and causes me white smoke and smell diesel
My dd13 has a hard start after I run it and I let it rest for over 45 minutes before i try to restart it again. But if I shut it off and turn it on right away I don't have any issues. CRAZY part is that when I start the truck when It's tested foe over 5 hours it's start fine. What do you think it is?

I have an issue with sucking air in the fuel system. Everything is new front the ranks themselves to all the lines. Yet still getting air and running horrible. Would injectors not sealing create that issue?
I had my DD S60 12.7L rebuilt four years ago, everything inside brand new except injectors. I replaced all fuel hoses from tanks to engine and back to tanks. Swapped out Fuel Pro 382 (see through filter) for old style spin-on fuel filters including all new check valves. The one issue which has never resolved is in morning with cold startup, engine fires up within 3-seconds like normal, immediately goes into cold start high idle and runs smooth (zero smoke) from 1000 rpms, 900, 800, 700, and then somewhere in the 600 rpm range as engine is warming up, it begins loping real bad and begins stuttering (putt-putt-putt still no smoke) and does not self correct as engine continues idling down into 500 rpm range. The only way to force it to stop is to blip the accelerator pedal which then immediately smooths out and stays like that the rest of day engine is running. It's done this everyday for the 11-years I've owned this truck. Sometimes during work day when going from road speed to a sudden stop such as at red traffic light, engine will lope for several seconds at idle and then smooth out. This is annoying and no one at my truck shop knows what is causing these issues. What is your experience with this irritating problem with the 60 series engines? I'm thinking about having an injector six-pack installed with all brand new injectors but I don't know if that is the problem or not. Also wondering could this be an idle validation issue with ECM. I have zero fault-codes.
I have a 2000 XL classic that does the same thing but now it has a power issues on and off randomly and is now parked until I can figure it out. It's a toy hauler not a revenue source so it can set.
@@emilyramsey9079 - Update to my earlier posting. In the time since that posting I had a brand new head installed with six brand new injectors, and my third set of TRS/SRS sensors. Had the ECM reflashed with the correct injector calibration codes and engine now runs like a new one without any loping whatsoever. It is a whole "like-new" experience and I love it.
Have a 2016 Cascadia with dd15 400hp. 375000miles. All computer diagnostics perfect, no check engine light. Sometimes lose pull power and engine brake power relatively similar. When it does turbo reads 21-24psi. When working normally 26-27psi on gas(pulls good and engine sound louder) and up to 32-34 on engine brake. When Idling it could work louder with 1-2psi pressure or become quieter and 0psi. Did dyno test 352hp, Valve adjustments, change air filter, change oil every 15k with full synthetic. Any test I can do? Or thoughts what it could be? MCM? Thanks for any answer.

Hey bro please help me out. I’ve got a 2005 Freightliner century with Detroit 60 series. I’ve got power loss on this truck for like 4 years. I’ve replaced turbo,v pod,egr valve,egr harness,air charger. It ran good when I replaced the egr harness for 3 days only. And then back to the low power. I took it to so many mechanics and no can figure it out. Recently I had replaced main engine seal and some other seals I don’t know what the mechanic did but I had power for 1 month. Now it’s low power again. I don’t know if he unplug the egr harness and plugged it back in. I have no idea. Please advise.

I have an old Greyhound bus like a 95 Detroit engine that has a new motor and starts right up runs good but it doesn't go faster than 20-30 miles per hour but when it's in park it has higher you can step on and it has high RPMs to anybody help me with that
