Okay funny thing we were in Cleveland yesterday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. we're on Detroit avenue heading through Lakewood going to Great Northern Mall whole foods shortcut to Edgewater Park but we also went to crocker Park the shops in Parma and other places we went to the flats at 8 p.m. Eastside and we walked around the flats and then we walked all the way to Public square and the warehouse district maybe we passed you
Wow! I grew up in Lakewood. This helps me see how things have changed over the years. That is so sad about the Trinity Lutheran Church. I used to go to church there when I still lived in the area.
This was probably one of my favorites that you have done (although I like them all!)...I lived in Lakewood from early 2000's through 2008 when I moved and got married. I lived on a few different streets throughout that time and have to come back at some point...Looks like there has really been a lot of updates to the general area....makes me really miss it! Thanks for all the diligence you put forth in each of your videos!
You ever eat and at Papa. Nicks pizza and Pasta on 116th in Clifton next to the TikTok?? I waitress there for a few short years, but I had blonde hair at a time
Thank you for watching and the compliments! I feel like I walk or bus through Lakewood at least once a week, so it helped me to have that familiarity factor when showing it off.
I like how they use the same tree for Christmas every year instead of cutting down a different tree every year like other cities across the country. It's much more practical this way.
Oh my gosh I totally love this video and I am now so homesick for Lakewood!! I was born in Lakewood Hospital, but I didn’t grow up in Cleveland my whole life .. lived in Lakewood in the early 90s and then moved to Parma Heights but you are covering a lot of area that I used to frequent. Just watching your video. It still feels like home. I wanna move across the bridge into Rocky River in the pink condominium building now I’m in love with it all over again. I’m going on Zillow to look at them.
@@zythr9999 lol,, my mom lived there, and I wanted her granddaughter to be close to her. My daughter was little when we moved to Parma Heights. That was some years ago though.
Thanks for sharing! Really has been a nice stretch of weather today and this week in northeast Ohio. 2 fun facts that apartment (across from Black Bird Baking Company) was actually my grandma's apartment. Another fun fact is I actually ate inside the Black Bird Baking Company. Wich was my first time eating inside. One problem is I am in a wheelchair and there is not wheelchair accessible in the front but in the back there is. (But I have to go through the kitchen to get to the main dining area. And I actually live on Portman across from Honey Hut. So it was cool to see my street on video. Sorry just had to throw that in there! I saw the Old Brooklyn video.
When I do videos, I often think to myself, "man, it'd be nice to try covering all of these city streets (with just houses) in a video, but it would take forever and there's just too many." So that's cool that two areas you were familiar with were featured! It's similar with food places, bakeries, restaurants, lol. I want to try them all (like Blackbird), but then there are like hundreds of other places I want to try too, lol.
Enjoyed all your videos Very much! Load girl, night owl. Only corrections...prounciations...Magee and Alameda. Ma like mah..hard g. Ala-meda. Watching in 2024.
Thanks! I think I do remember my mom telling me the correct pronunciation of Alameda; but my mind jumps to this character that used to be on the TV show "24" whenever I see it, and I think of that character's last name, lol
I want to cover both Rocky River and Fairview Park. I'm thinking the Rocky River video might start where this Lakewood video did, but I'd go the opposite direction on Detroit; then go to a certain point and maybe walk to Rocky River Park? The Fairview Park/Rocky River one would probably focus on Center Ridge Road, which is basically on the border of both.
Thanks for watching and leaving some history! Remember I don't profess to be an expert, lol, I like exploring, showing off, and telling history that I'm aware of, but it's always fun to learn more! 😊
The White, empty building you passed by ELbur Ave. used to be Miller's Dining Room, which was famous for their sticky buns. I used to go there with my parents to meet my aunt and uncle when they came into town, and we would all eat there together.
Unfortunately I don't have a clue where you are. Been away from Cleveland for》30 yrs. Is Detroit Ave and W. 117 still have the metro station on the corner?. Luv watching your videos. Glad to see the city looks more cleaner, and less run down. Alot more mon and pop shops around Wld luv to see edgewater Park and Clifton Blvd sometime if possible!! Great videos!
I did two videos walking all of Edgewater Park last year around June, so be sure to check one of them out! 😊 And the rapid station is at the corner of Madison Avenue & W. 117th; basically where I ended this video, but the station is across the street from me.
I was a student at Western Reserve U. In the sixties. Lived at Andrews House, which was a dorm then. Will never forget coming back there Nov 22, 1063, and seeing the TV on with Walter Cronkite [sp?] telling about the Kennedy shooting. Life was never the same after that. Anyway lived in Lakewood until 1974. Worked part time at Detroit Ave. Printing owned by Gary Friedman. His dad had started the business. Lived at a few places in my years there. Last was The Carlyle. Apartments when they were first constructed. My then husband, infant son and I were at Lakewood Park July 4th, 1969, when killer storm blew in off the lake. We were unharmed but other there were not as lucky. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. 😂
the building across from where the doctors' offices used to be when Lakewood Hospital was there, a restaurant used to be on the first floor called The Pouter Mug. My mom worked in one of the doctors' offices across the street and sometimes I would be at her work, and we would walk across the street to the Pouter mug for lunch. It was a very fancy place.
Aladin's used to be a local store with a deli inside and my mom and I would sometimes go there to get something for lunch, or she would send me across the street from the doctor's office where she worked to pick up something for us. The people there were so nice.
Fabulous video as always! Thank You!! I did see the story on the news when the ( founder ) gentleman known as, Mr. Christmas passed away. He was the perfect example of a man who truly loved his art.
Haha, was I saying it wrong at certain points? I was confusing myself when trying to say East/West/North/South; I know which way is which, but narrating it is challenging for some reason, lol.
Also, love your ideas of showcasing streets like Almeda and Grace. There are a few unique gems throughout the city…. Thanks for the fun videos! Godspeed!
I can’t believe Geiger’s is still there wow what was that seafood restaurant next to Geiger is on the main street in Detroit do you remember that that famous seafood restaurant years ago?
Seafood is one thing I rarely eat, lol, so unfortunately I don't remember. I tried looking on Google Maps back to 2008 around that area near Geigers, but couldn't see a seafood place.
Thanks for some of the background information! I remember the Party supplies store, if it's the spot I'm thinking of; my mom went there with me a handful of times.
