It's just such a shame, this run doesnt just stick to the pistons, it sticks to these young guys, just a forever stain on a franchise, it's sad, I hope the guys on this team can find success in the future, they deserve something, something better than these pistons, it's sad and I hope it doesnt effect these guys too much
@sethrivali9489 it's been well documented through statements from players and historical data that being on really really bad teams like this affects their long term development. You lose touch with the winning mentality that got you to the league. You lose touch with closing out games. You regress in other ways, as well. It really IS that deep
After watching the whole story of that Bobcats team, I'm so curious what's going on in the locker with those guys. It's gotta be a mental gauntlet just to keep your head straight
Best case scenario imo is that now that they've officially broken the loss record the pressure is off and they can just play loose. They've been playing tough, which makes me think the mentality is better than we might think. They play teams hard and really haven't been getting blown out as much as you think.
@@andrewchapman1494 i think pistons need to put up shots in there own basket..thats the best defence against other teams keep the ball out of other teams hands just drop the ball in your own rim////thats a great offense too..u can get piston players scorin 40 ppg///
I'm a T-Wolves fan and I have to say, we probably have it worse. The team is consistently hopeless without even the distinction of being spectacularly inept. Just bog-standard, uninteresting bad.
And I love it! All of them made fun of Kings and the fan base. They were celebrating that Kings traded them Bagley for Lyles. They celebrated that the Kings drafted Murray over Ivey, that they were calling Kings are dumb and "thanks!" Steal of the draft!
@@blowc1612 I can't blame people for making fun of decisions that the Kings make because (and I say this as a ride or die Kings fan) that team making a good decision is a freakish outlier
I would not be surprised if this roster just flat out walks off the court during a game, collectively quiet quits the NBA and each player finds reputable careers in some far-off country where no one can attest that they were on this awful team. Also, nice Kirby hat.
isaih thomas was seen laughing during celtic 21 point come from behind//they say they were sitting in a gay bar with some guy named magic and saw isaih kissing the magic wand and laughin at pistons.i dont know if this is true///////i hope not/
I feel really bad for both Pistons players and fans. I don't follow basketball super religiously, but it is crazy to see this sort of hopelessness and feeling of futility from a youtube analysis by a fan of the team. Here's hoping the change you guys are looking for happens and is successful.
James Wiseman has had years to learn. This is like, Bambi is an adult now and still can't walk. Someone made a joke post about the hypothetical of Detroit killing 5 of their players to trigger a disaster draft, which would obviously improve their team. James Wiseman was the only name mentioned in the post.
i still dont know how a piston fan can walk at all/////id be in a drunken stupir for hours after each game/if u took a shot of whiskey everytime pistons missed a shot u would be dead before halftime//
Even as someone who kinda hates the Pistons, I still wanted Boston to lose to them. They'll have a significant crowd of neutrals pulling for them from here on out. Also, some of those Wizards-level teams are gonna just overlook them one night. But, that's a tale for future games.
Personally I think it’s 100% Monty Williams fault. Cade has been balling, Duren and Bojan are good, Ausar has huge potential, Jaden Ivey can be great he just needs the confidence. Monty has given the pistons no consistent roles which can only get more into the heads of his players
The sad thing is they actually wanted to compete and had optimism at the beginning of the season. Like they turn the ball over at such a high rate, they give up like 33 points and at the end of it they look up at the scoreboard and they lose by 6. They have the same issue I saw in Minnesota in the 2010s with Kevin Love, it's literally a parallel situation with Cade Cunningham doing everything he possibly can and the rest of the team not being able to close out games. Keep your head up, Kofie 🙌🏾
After Ivey fouled out and the put Livers back in the game I was immediately like "oh this is over." Replace your best shooter with one of your worst lol
3:06 "Don't give me hope that we can win a game if we're not going to win the game." As a Minnesota sports fan, I feel that so hard. Ironically though, not with the Timberwolves. They never give me any hope.
I got my wife into basketball at the end of the last season. Enjoyed watching it with her and seeing her find favorites. I remember her asking about the pistons like “are they underdogs, those are fun to watch”. She ended being a big Celtics fan and kept her eye on the Pistons. It’s been wild watching both teams, we’re watching more out of morbid curiosity now. I hate it for those loyal fans, good lord I thought they would pull a cheeky win out.
Valuable insight for the future SB documentary :((( I love Cade and Troy Weaver as a former Okie so it hurts to see them this way. There is a strange connection with Detroit and OKC it seems
God fucking damn bro. I’m from Detroit and I like basketball. I don’t want to be a fair weather fan rooting for the warriors or whatever team Lebron is on. But how can I be a fan of my home team? What’s there to be a fan of? What’s there to be loyal too?
I didn't even think about the red flag Knox starting. I'm a Hawks guy and we had him year before last, and I think I remember him playing in garbage time once. The Hawks were beginning their mid run then too. So it's not like we were so good he couldn't see the floors bc of that.
Yeah I work at a sports bar I finished an order they were up 19 I got an order for a five top I cook that order then go to check again and they were losing 😅
The only NBA regular season coverage that I have seen in the news here was the Pistons losing streak. Usually NBA news doesn't start till around the playoffs.
I say this as a Suns fan. At least you have something to look back on. We went through this pretty much the whole 2010's and we don't even have a championship to rewatch and feel better. Thankfully I'm not bound to Arizona, it could be so much worse. A literal sports dessert
First off, love the hat btw Second, they have to turn it around at some point? Right? Like it shouldn’t be physically or mathematically possible for them to not take a singular dub at any point in the foreseeable future?
I like Isaiah Stewart, he's just miscast. Some spacing from a big is nice, but you can't expect him to be the 2nd/3rd best shooter on the floor; it reminds me a lot of Horford's struggles on the 76ers with Embiid/Simmons. The Pistons have to decide how many talented non-shooters they can afford (especially with Cade not being an excellent shooter himself) and move on from the odd men out. Ivey gets Andre Roberson coverage, Duren can be ignored if he's more than 5ft from the basket, and Ausar played himself out of minutes despite being the team's best perimeter defender. I understand you could trade Ivey only for him to blossom, but Detroit doesn't have the luxury to wait-and-see because these guys are in the way of each other developing.
This is horrible. The owners, coach and most of the players should feel ashamed of themselves. I’m not a basketball fan, but I can’t imagine how it would feel to watch THIS as a fan.
Wtf are you talking about. Kings have one of the bench unit in the league. Literally have a front runner in 6th man. Sounds like you're a casual Kings fan and think that were bad. We don't need someone like you in the fan base.
As a Celtic fan, its hard to believe a team that can play like that has had such troubles. I know it doesn't feel great, reminds me of the 90s Celtics.
If the streak is broken, there's no guarantee that they won't beat the season-long record of futility of 9-73. The closer that mark becomes real, the media attention machine will ratchet back up again. Sad times being a Pistons fan. Considering it has been 15 years of irrelevance, they found a brand new way of being brutal.
Not a pistons fan but I feel for y’all. I don’t even think this team is has bad as they’ve been playing. Idk if it’s coaching or something but they can’t close games out. I haven’t watched too many games but they have been competing and competitive in most of the scores I’ve kept up with. They’ve unfortunately choked a lot of games. I also think the bench is a huge concern.
If Sam Hinkie can trade Michael Carter Williams after a ROTY season, its time to let the Killian Hayes experiment to end. You guys are wasting 4 years of NBA minutes on a guy who plays like Bambi on ice. This season is over, you might as well try to develop and find gems on the G league who could end up being valuable role players around cade, duren and ausar.
Not a Pistons fan but what I had seen from Bagley versus what I've seen from Wiseman would lead me to think that Bagley would be getting the minutes. James Wiseman is a pretty awful basketball player. As a Dubs fan I appreciate you taking him off of our hands.
Kofie, don't forget about Stephen Silas being hired on as the assistant head coach. He really couldn't win in Houston and is now partnered with Monty. Those 2 plus Troy need to be in communications 2 - 6 times a day and it's definitely Troy's job to provide them with a better roster more suited. This is the result of a team that can't shoot, can't defend and is overall needing to develop in the G-League.
Honestly I feel like the Pistons losing streak is the biggest story in the league by far. Possibly the best team in the league rn the Celtics had more coverage because they beat the Pistons again than when they beat their rival Lakers on Christmas
Asaur needs to be on the G-League because he just can't play on this team. It's not a knock on him as a player in the NBA, but he cannot shoot AT ALL and is on a team that perpetually has no shooting. The player I am curious about is Killian Hayes. Monty keeps playing him and I wonder if it's a owner/GM decision. The lineups make perfect sense if Killian HAS to play - have to bring Jaden Ivey off the bench because playing Killian without Cade is suicide and need Burks in particular for at least the concept of shooting. The fact that Killian has played at least 25 but less than 26 mpg every single season of his career really makes me suspicious that there's some kind of ownership/GM demand that he play a certain amount. Livers probably should not play if he can't hit a shot, but also who else are you going to play? Like that ends up being the Pistons problem. You can complain about who does play, but you need alternatives. The backup plan to Alec Burks is rookie Marcus Sasser, and maybe he should play more but also that could go south quickly. The alternative to Isaiah Livers is Kevin Knox or Joe Harris and they are not the answer to any question.
I hear you going after the guy wbo was charged woth beating up his gf in front of thier kids. Bringing him back to michagan. Cnt wait to see it. And i hope i hope it hits 80 game losong streak
I looked at the pistons salary cap and Bojan Bogdanovic and Joe Harris are the two highest paid players at 20 million each. Also the pistons are over the salary cap at 1.5 million. I'm really starting to think that the pistons get there advice from one of there kids who plays NBA 2k24 my NBA.
The Pistons lack many things. They lack leadership, player development, competent executives, and most importantly a winning culture. Detroit spent an entire decade being mediocre and what usually happens is that the wheels would fall off, resulting in a disatrous collapse. But this feels different. The root of this team's issues are extremely deep. I really question if we'll ever see a great Pistons team again in our lifetime.
detroit fans should be loving this..why not go to a piston game and cheer everytime pistons throw up a brick/they should be rooting to lose 60 in a row//the ccity would mend jell together as one///////why not lose 60 in a row it would be fun and hilarious////drink your beer at home games and cheer everytime pistons go down by 36 points at halftime//
Blazers just got their butts kicked by the crummy Spurs. The fans in Portland are told to stop complaining and be proud of their team. Detroit needs more bullies in their media outlets. It's important to shut down negativity and make losing a happy place.
Detroit teams boutta have 2 of the worst teams in the history of their respective league in 2 sports, now just need the Red Wings and Tigers to have historically bad seasons at some point
