As a Wizards fan I have been watching the Pistons ever since we beat you guys. At first it was a sense of morbid curiosity. "How can this team be so bad that they lost to the Wizards going half speed." It turned into a sense of momentousness and history as the streak got closer to reaching history. It now has turned into a sort of queasy feeling where I almost feel like I am trapped with them going through it. I have become a Pistons fan during this.
I started watching the 6ers during full tank mode and bought into the process. To this day, I am still a Ben Simmons apologist. Long story short, I am trapped as well. I need them to either blow up the team or win. I can't exist in the middle.
I am not a Pistons fan, I don't even really watch too much NBA outside of my teams games and the playoffs. But for me the Pistons have become must win TV. This losing streak is how I found your channel, I'll watch or at least track the points and check highlights from every game in the streak until it gets broken, and I'm thinking all the time about how great the JxmyHighroller video breaking down just how historic this losing streak is will be. It's crazy, I love watching this kind of unique tv, and a huge losing streak is almost as good as a historic winning streak is. I just hope it at least gets to 30 because I highly doubt it gets to 40, but that would be great because that would be a record that would never be broken.
I'm rooting for 32. Longest win streak of all time is 32, so the longest losing streak should match it for symmetry's sake. What should they pop in the locker room for snapping the streak? Jeppson's Malort?
One strong reason why people are talking about the Pistons right now is because it can open up a variety of different topics that can be discussed about the NBA. The Pistons's losing streak has let to conversations about team parity in the NBA, the draft lottery, team rebuilds, front office decisions, whether good coaching or good players makes a good team, mental toughness among players, etc. Most importantly people are eager to react when the Pistons do finally win and the aftermath that ensues, or see the Pistons hypothetically lose all their remaining games and end 2-80, as if that's a reward in of its own.
I’m a Lakers fan, Born and raised in LA. The I watch the Pistons vs Celtics, instead of the Lakers yesterday. That game was amazing. Can’t wait for Pistons vs Raptors. The Super Bowl of The NBA.
Even big market teams get ignored, typically 2 or 3 teams totally dominate ESPN and the media, even if they are not the top teams. Cali teams in particular
The mindset of the execs seems to be to capture as much of the current nba audience rather than growing the audience by giving them more teams to learn about and come to be fans of.
I’ve tried…for years I’ve tried. Since 2008 I’ve tried so many times to get into the pistons. In ‘08 to start the year I was into it and then /chauncey trade/. During the 2012-13 nhl lockout I was gonna get into it and then /6-14 start/. The week they formed a wall in 2015 was cool…I guess, but again they started 7-23, over before it began. The years they made the playoffs in ‘16 and ‘19 I could see right through the blake griffin bandaid on a bullet wound coming from a red wings fan sick of them trying to keep the streak alive and nothing more. But now? Man people have been hungry for wingstop the last 2 months but I’ve been hungry since 2008 lmao
Seriously Wilbon couldn't name two Pistons??? Thats just sad. I think of myself as a casual and I can name like 4 without thinking just because I cant understand why the hell Bogandonvic is there. The ever appreciating bust status of Bagley and Wiseman and how can you not acknowledge the monster season that both Cade and Duren are having and whether or not their stats actually will hold up on a winning team. There are so many great storylines here...
Literally could name Bagley, Killian Hayes, Cade, Asur, and Alec Burkes. Not cuz I watch the team, but because these are people I hear about so often from piston fans.
I told my friend who is not even an NBA fan about the losing losing streak and now he is actually keeping up with the team and there record and even watched the nets game to see them break the record.
Hot take: if we'd drafted Hali over Hayes, Tyrese would be a shell of what he is right now for the Pacers and Hayes would likely be a significantly better player than him on a different team. Because if you look at the lack of the development across the board from the players the Pistons have drafted since Gores bought the team and the guys we gave up on who took big jumps in development after they left here, its pretty clear they can't develop players into anywhere near what their ceiling potential is. There was always going to be a gap between Hayes and Hali, with hindsight Hali was always going to be better, but I'd bet my lifetime earnings that if one of the like 20 other teams with a proven track record of solid to good player development had taken Hayes instead then the gap between him and Hali would be less than half of what it is currently. Hayes wasn't destined to suck luck this until he got drafted by an org that has no idea how to develop players. Which makes the Wiseman trade all the more egregious in hindsight because of the Warriors - probably top 1/3 in the league in player development - couldnt unlock ANYTHING in him, then why did an org thats maybe the worst in player development ever think theyd have a shot at suceeding where he Warriors failed?
I have a big 04 Pistons Jacket I wear this time of the year, and I keep getting comments from strangers from it. Also was a mistake wearing it to an open mic, like 5 comedians took shots at me. It’s been fun
Bro one player isn’t gonna win a game maybe once In A season and superstar players get maybe 6 of those games usually of the back of some crazy scoring output. Asking a guy in his second year to carry a bottom 3 roster is just not realistic
The bad boys pistons damn near 3 peated but finished they time with 2 back to back in an era with bird & magic. The 2000s Pistons beat Kobe & Shaq in they primes & went to like 6 straight ECF lol the team used to be tough. The malace at the palace I remember listening to that shit on the car radio🤣🤣 rushing home to see the replay on ESPN. Detroit is much better than this. That front office gotta go.
I am so happy the stupid streak is finally over. No one ever used to talk about the pistons, and i liked it that way. I consume quite a bit of pistons content and some nba general content and seeing non fans grilling them sucks. It actually makes me feel down. Pistons fans are my bros, so its chill when they trash the team, but randoms who barely know player names? Nah. I saw one of my fav nbatubers jxmy drop a hit piece on the pistons and dude called stew the starting center. Like brah. Gross If tom gores really cared about the community he'd know that putting a good basketball team on the floor would keep kids of the streets
It might be a lot tougher for the following games. Other teams are going to up their game against the Pistons since no one wants to be the team that ends this streak. The Detroit Pistons ironically just became the scariest team to face.
We’ll keep the streak going. Especially with all of our opponents treating each matchup like it’s game 7. No one will tolerate a loss to Detroit at this point. I think I heard that we’re the worst team in professional sports history.
As a Sacramento Kings fan, I can’t sympathize. My team is a small market team that did r make the playoffs for 16 years until last season and nobody cared
Im activly watching the pistons fan and i hopenthey hit a minimum of 50 straight loses. And i live close enuff to see them live and tixket prices are super cheap. Bt i would rather roll a blunt with that 5 dollars
Unfortunately, you have to be good to be featured on tv, be one of the major market teams that constantly gets talked about, or historically bad. The pistons making headlines really were for trades like the Blake Griffin trade or when they traded Andre Drummond. I felt the same way about the Heat when Lebron left. We’d always be in free agency talks but nothing too interesting other than Bosh having to end his career and Wade leaving and coming back. But when I look at the media now, it’s kinda consistent about how we go under the radar, but get talked about again during playoff time.
I highly disagree. Those Alex Caruso Lakers highlights are GOLD, BABY! Remember when he destroyed Lonzo so hard on a swat that Lavar disowned him? And the ball was out on Lonzo! Also, yeah Lincoln Logs are a trash toy.
10:59 the fact that Moist Critical has tried to cover to cover the Pistons like the freak of the week is very telling of the National discourse about the losing streak. Nobody cared when they were mediocre, but once the team reaches this low of a point people watch if it can go lower 🎪
Well it ends tonight against the Raptors. Get your morbid curiosity fix in while you can, because once you win tonight, and then 3 of your next 6 to pass the Spurs in the standings, you’ll go back to being completely irrelevant again 😂
@@wagglewiggle It's the other Detroit team. You know, one of 4? Since you don't know, they're the Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings. Since you're probably not aware, the Lions have won the NFC North; a division that they have been stomped out in for some time now. So, one Detroit sports team is having a historically good year, and the other one is having an awful one. Hopefully this clears things up!
@@wagglewiggle And you didn't? I made a joke, it flew over your head. I think you assume that you're far smarter than you actually are. It's okay, not everyone has joke comprehension, and there's no shame in that ❤️
I’m not an nba fan, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever watched a full game. But the Pistons are so bad people like me are watching videos like this. That’s got to be some historically bad play or something
Pistons might actually win now today, playing the Raptors with no O.G Anunoby and Precious Achiuwa, plus Raptors were trash anyways with those two playing
I genuinely couldn't care less about the Pistons, or any franchise from Detroit. And I actually liked the Ben, Rasheed, and Rich Hamilton Pistons back in the day. LeBron killers.
