fun fact : Elias Toufexis (Adam's VA) and his wife (Megan's VA) had an argument before filming this particular cutscene. Thats why Adam sounded so organically pissed off in this scene
How she says Jarons name so calmly drives me insane. That's the guy that for all you knew, killed Adam and kidnapped you but the tone sounded affectionate
Eliza already knew about this... And that's why she warned Adam about it..... "Just be careful Adam... Because everybody lies"... Just look at the part after Adam asked her about the truth.... She bypassed the main subject why she got involved and talked about Adam's DNA.... It was never the real reason. Now Adam once again get duped by her.... That drives me insane.
Could also be a psychological defense mechanism. She's amoral enough to use people's DNA without their permission (it happens in real life too occasionally, so not too far fetched), she values her work probably over anything else, and Stockholm Syndrome is a thing. Not too big a leap to say she could compartmentalize like that as a coping mechanism, if you ask me.
@@cedarwaxwing6290 Either she has a knack for working for morally questionable people, or literally everyone who could possibly employ her would use her research for something nefarious. I more ship Jensen with the Eliza Helle AI, personally, and I kinda think Jensen should ditch Megan after this one anyway. I absolutely get how Megan is cool, but she is probably never going to have time for him the way this is going if she somehow morally dodges everything. Working for Bob Page is probably not great for her health long-term anyway. If she is working for Bob Page, she either dies in the Area 51 explosion in Deus Ex 1, she dies sooner, or she quits. There is no version of events where Bob Page wins. Also, being in a relationship with a benevolent Artificial Intelligence would be narratively interesting. A human turning into a machine in a relationship with a machine turning into a human, that is.
Except for Frank Pritchard - sure, he may have been a bit of a dick (albeit a likeable one), but if you think about it, then he's the only character who's 100% honest with Adam the whole time.
I wondered why this scene felt so real, and ai didn’t know until Toufexis said that he and his wife had been arguing that day that they recorded this scene
I felt so bad for Adam after seeing this and him finding out about her participation in making the Orchid in Mankind Divided. You can tell he really loved her (in the prologue in Human Revolution, just the fact he can't seem to let go of her). Such a shame he fell for such a cunt.
She's an idealist at best, and a naive child at worst. Because she always didn't consider the possible motives of anyone she worked with, she added to the problem - the entirety of HR was made worse by her work, plus the D Project and Orchid were at least heavily accelerated by her. Seems she still remained attached to Adam though, as implied by a saved conversation in the Missing Link.
Probably not. As described in "Icarus Fall", Jaron was a family-type man, quite cold to other people, so probably this scene depicts how comfortable Megan feels herself here.
I sleep in a king size bed all to myself cause I need all of that room since I sleep weird, but I always thought that by the time of the beginning of Human Revolution Adam and Megan were no longer together "Fun Fact" the voice actor who does the voice of Adam Jensen and the voice actress who does the voice of Megan are actually married in real life and have been married for several years
@@LOSTGAM3R when Namir died he realised that he was just a henchman working for the illuminatis..... On the other hand, Megan's research made her more valuable than Namir to Bob Page.... Megan knew it.
@@sarahphyllis5782 Megan could have get Namir's DNA in other ways... but Namir was used as a henchman... all the development in the chip designing goes to Megan... at the end Namir lost to Jensen but Jensen would spare Megan and Namir knew it.
I seriously want a third game with Megan Reed as a major re-occurring character. I want to know exactly what her motivations / opinions are after the Aug Incident.
Think about it, all the details are in there. She is the one who has been developping different 'technologies' using Adam's dna, then after the explosion at the ending of the first game. She leaves Sarif and joins VersaLife (forgot the accurate name), that is around the same time, the illuminati's search crew finds Adam's dead body in the ocean where the explosion occured. Within a year, a clone of Adam is activated with experimental Augs that were installed by the russian dude. Then in the second game you find the original Adam's dead body in one of the vaults in Versa Life (still dont remember the actual name lol) Megan reed has experimented on Adam's blood since the start and has the most experience, most likely she had a hand in Adam getting cloned. The augs being installed by the russian dude after. Ofc i'm theorizing all of this based on a game and what ever the writer intended but that's how it's looking to me with everything i've seen so far in the story and not real life story but fun none the less 😄
@@saboormas TF are you on about? it was confirmed by the developers themselves that Adam survived the explosion of Panchaea,he drifted in the ocean in a comatose state but kept alive by his Sentinel RX Health Systems until he was rescued and sent to a Illuminati controlled facility in the Baltic Sea. While the events of what happened in the facility remain unclear,it was hinted that the Illuminati altered his memories and transferred him to Alaska after they ordered Vadim Orlov to install cutting edge yet experimental Augmentations on Adam. Adam then woke up in Alaska and subsequently returned to Detroit to continue his work, effectively making the clone theory false and moot.
@@videodeposu8741 *YES* originally this was meant to be a one-off game and lead directly into the original Deus Ex. The self-destruct ending is the only ending which perfectly ties up all of the loose ends. For as much as I love this game the second game ruins the narrative and the Adam Jensen, we see in that game is most likely a clone with implanted memories. The real Adam Jensen is dead.
There needed to be one last conversation between the two before the game ended. The game could have had you choose whether or not to break up with her.
megan is not "with" Jaron but she is not in love of Adam either. She just care about scientific research and her professional career. Simply as that...
@@othelliusmaximus This is usual in cientific community. Most of then keep investigating ignoring the real aplication of the research. They just focuse in the challenge.
@@FineWine-v4.0 sounds noble, but for such a smart woman she's willingly blinding herself on how her research is being used by evil men, all for the sake of being on the cutting edge of research. She's satisfied enough to be a pawn in all this, she's traded her conscience for her passion. "Howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone" She bears responsibility just as Bob does.
That chip just proves that you shouldn't get something just because its free. And I feel so sorry for Adam especially at this moment, after playing the side missions where you learn about Adam's past and it doesn't yield much for him to the point he doesn't even know who his parents are and now he's learning that Megan isn't all she seems. :'(
I love Megan voice actress, after all is the wife of Adam's voice the legendary Elias Toufexis, but I hate her character because of this things: 1.- She lied to Adam about her research and never told him it was his DNA that was used to delivered that discovery. 2.- She didn't bother to search for him after the Panchaea Incident and decided to go to Versalife and not aid Sarif until the end. In that case Francis Pritchard was more loyal than her. 3.- She is the real reason Adam became an Aug and transformed his life into hell more than before because he tried to rescue her and was victim of the Tyrants leader, Namir. (I love Adam's cyber limbs, but still his life wouldn't be so very difficult if it wasn't because of her and in some way Sarif). 4.- I don't think she loved him and only use him for her scientific research, even if you could see in Adam's apartment a photograph of him with her on his desk, everything was a lie... Of course Panchaea was a place where there was some radiation after the Hyron project complex were destroyed (in Black Light and Mankind mentioned it, but it was by PICUS, you can't trust those guys in anything), but still if she did loved him, she would a least tried to search for his body... Ohhh, this is frustrating.... I want her to pay... If there is a third game (I hope we could get a new one) and she appears again, I hope she gets a punishment for her treason. Adam deserve some justice for what she did.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Indeed... it seems the only characters who back Adam 100% are Pritchard (even if he is a bit insufferable), and Sarif (despite, or maybe because of, his somewhat naive idealism).
I know I'm just blabbering here, but I think Adam defeating Jaron after getting the new chip can be fit so well or so poorly with the plot. At first I thought it meshed horribly because it really bastardized the role augmentations play in the plot by allowing Adam to win without augs. But then I thought it would be a perfect penultimate twist to the story if Adam chooses the anti-augmentation ending. (Though I hesitated to call the Hugh Darrow ending "The anti-augmentation ending" because I simply chose it because it was the truth, but you know what I mean).
