This game surely is in a odd place: While there's no definitive canon of what happened on HR (if you see the endings you will understand, situation is pretty much like Invisible War was to the original DX), MD also is afraid to commit to any drastic plot points for the same reason: They know they will have a sequel and can't deviate too much. That's the problem of putting too much choice in a video game with sequels where you can't import your saved game and deal with the consequences of it. --- Edit: Oh, let's not even forget it's a prequel trilogy, so we can't deviate from original game canon too. LOL. Continuing... --- Interesting is the bait this game does: First it present it with a real choice (go investigate the bank or the bombing thing) and then later it present you with a big false choose-one situation since this time around you can do both (prevent the bomb and save Brown). I won't spoil you about HR (Why the hell you still didn't played HR in first place? Hahaha), but there's some moments where the theme of choosing is also well explored differently there and it's genius too. Go on and try to find it, I dare you. Great analysis, we definitely need more like that. And also we really need the sequel. Avengers was a fiasco, hopefully the studio can get back to working on MD sequel. The voice actor of Jensen, that also became a fan, already confirmed that some good stuff is coming, supposing they can bring us. Even if technically inferior or cheaper, they definitely should bring the last chapter of Jensen trilogy. Oh, and play also the original game. One of the best PC games ever period, even today. Cheers.

First off, thanks so much for the detailed and thoughtful comment. You're right about the ending of HR...I think the same goes for MD. I actually have since played HR, I think it's one of the great games of the PS3 era. I prefer MD, but really respect what Eidos did rebooting a classic franchise and simultaneously keeping what was so good about the original and making the franchise their own. I agree completely that we need to get a conclusion to Jensen's story. I was actually rooting for Avengers to be successful so that it would make Eidos some money and give them confidence. But maybe it's better that it bombed in terms of reviews and sales because now Square has nothing really to lose by letting Eidos finish off the trilogy.

@@anxietyreport9037 I wish we would have a good space to discuss such complex games, I simply love watching these analysis and there's some great videos out there. I found you and other RU-vidrs doing a great job, with really great points and nuances about these games. Back to MD, well, we only can hope. I also wanted Avengers to succeed, but now I feel that the studio is in more danger than before. I hope it don't close because of that, because they did a lot of games with a lot of praise from critics. In a worst case scenario, that they become independent again. so another publish can do the job. Deus Ex is a big franchise that can't die right now, these games are super relevant and need to be made. Cheers.

@@Rafa-Silva-Alt I'm with you 100% on there being a space to talk games like this. I go on the Deus Ex subreddit a lot and apparently there's an immersive sim one as well. Maybe that would be a good space to keep the discussion going.

I feel like story wise it was very short compared to human divided i didn't do all the side missions since i didn't find them in the first place x) whereas human revolution gave some away like the mother or colleague that is being extorted I don't know if it's a problem or not since Deus ex MD rewards you for searching areas but it also makes gamers miss if they chose an other pass .

That's true, one of the ways that player choice can lock them out of certain areas. I need to go back and play HR because I'm curious as to why a lot of Deus Ex fans prefer it to MD. I just think MD is such a rich experience that I'd be interested to experience what players consider to be the better game.

AnxietyReport I think human revolution had a better ending as in the fact that it doesn't feel like a cliffhanger but also had more content even if prague is a better place than detroit you also need to remember that there was also singapour that made for a compelling living world the entire story was longer and making the MD finish on such a sloppy note made it more feel like a poor attempt to a cash grab .

I have read about multiple hub locations in HR, it sounds immersive, like every few missions the player is discovering a new world to explore.
